Here's some video from my first flight with the HD Pro Kit from Walksnail on the AR Wing Pro. I mostly wanted to see how the new camera is in low light, and it surprised me how well it works... lol I included a bit of footage from another quick flight with a taller antenna for better placement as well. So far I like what I see, and looking forward to flying it more and seeing it develop!

I'm all analog but it is hard to resist the lure of the HD FPV. Walksnail is my favorite contender at the moment.
Same I was that guy but the more I watch I’m getting sucked in got my vrx on my transformers now
Nostalgia is cool, but Full HD in the googles is cooler! You really see, it's more pleasant and gimbal is really worth it.
Everyone that flies HD will tell you that once you start flying HD, you won't want to go back to analog. It's true... lol I had my doubts but I see it too now... ha
Honestly, just do it. It's an excellent addition to our hobby and it's now at a price point where it's no more expensive than decent analogue gear.
The way I view it is like this:
- Analogue = I enjoy flying but need to wait to get home to review the HD recording to fully enjoy the scenery, often I'll then notice something interesting and wish I'd spent more time exploring there.
- Digital HD = I can fully enjoy the flight and immerse myself in the scenery, whislt, I'm flying. I can also see the powerlines "before" I hit them!
Why walksnail? Tell us the reason if you would.

This system isn't perfect, but is any of them? lol There's a few little quirks but it seems like Caddx is listening and working to get everything ironed out and adding features that people want. It will be interesting to see where it goes in the future.
I would love to see a setup video and or build video on some of your hardware. ardupilot seems very interesting but I know nothing about it. I used to fly vector and still have several of them but never fly fixed wing these days.
That was a nice flight man. You're right, the camera is very deceptive. I think people struggle to take our word for it when we say it was properly dark (to the eye) whilst the flight was happening.
On the note of gyroflow, I did a bit of experimentation with it earlier. It seems to work quite well, but just a heads up you (currently) need to request the lens profile from caddx
Thanks for the tip on the lens profile! I asked and got it from them to start playing around with that next.
How do I go about getting the lens profile? I’m using the hd v2 vtx 32 gb , do I just email caddx support ? Or ?

Choosing between DJI integra + caddx vista pro and Walksnail avatar goggles + pro kit for my cinewhoop so many different opinions. So many pros and cons. Can't decide. Your flight looks pretty fine.

I saw you were not recording on the VTX. Is that because it still causes the OSD to flicker? Thank you for the GPS information also.
Correct, sadly the flickering is still there while recording onboard. Having plenty of storage onboard now and Gyroflow support, I really want to record onboard just to have it if something interesting happens... lol I keep reminding Caddx of the flicker, and they keep telling me they are aware and will fix it in the future. No time frame though!
@@bonafidepirate They are doing well with what the have given us. IMHO I can wait for that fix. Or I can deal with the flickering. We will see soon. I hope my VTX2 will arrive today.

Almost bought an AR Wing pro this week, but ended up choosing a Dolphin. This will likely be my next buy.
The Dolphin is pretty high on my list too, I probably would have ordered one if I didn't get the Swordfish to review, that will be my next project soon.
@@bonafidepirate Same for me. Check out "Notamed Closed" flights with his Dolphin. Farmer from the Canadian bread basket. Amazing flights.

10:30.. Why does the Horizon indicator drop in and out on the screen ? It also seems that you are not using iNav 6 since the Home arrow does not correct when you pan the camera to an off forward view. I heard iNave 6 fixed that.
This is Arduplane, no inav. I have the AHI set up to only show when looking forward, so it doesn't block the view when I pan over to look at something. Inav has had the pan servo/home arrow thing since like 3 I think. I know I set it up a couple years ago on one of my planes. It was always in the CLI until recently when it was moved to the GUI, and they added some other things that "obey" it too, like waypoints and radar.
While people are concerned about night flying I just wish they would make a system that would handle freestyle flying and not just fixed wing flying. in 20 days I lost two vtx and camera in a slightly more forced landing, including yesterday the sensor of my last nano camera broke in a landing. things that never happened to me in analogue and 1 year of hdzero. i am disappointed with walsknail v1.

Have you had any issues with EKF3? Seems to be making problems for some people (including me) sometimes. I switched to custom Ardupilot with EKF2 for now.
No, I use EKF3 on all my Arduplane builds with no problems.
doesn't anyone manucture a "lollypop" style antenna in which the "mast" is raked back maybe 45°, instead of vertical...? i'm thinking for aerodynamic reasons.
I checked your Thingiverse...do you have files for the pan setup and Avatar Cradle you're using here?
I don't, that file is someone else's design that's posted in the Walksnail discord 3D prints section. I thing he posted it with two slots for the V1 antennas, I modified it to use the single antenna for V2. I don't know if he posted another one for V2, if not I can upload it somewhere and send you a link.
What pids do you recommend changing for the pro? I'm yet to do my maiden flight still setting everything up for my siyi and crossfire
I just did the usual autotune which gets it flying pretty smooth, then tune some of the TECS things according to the plane's climb/sink/etc. so the navigation works well. It should fly half decent with defaults to start.
The range is not what I expected with walksnail I wonder if the antennas on the VRX are really not helping the system perform its best.
But my primary concern is that the VRX seems to have worse range than the goggles.
Are you flying the Avatar/HDZ setup? From the videos I've seen, you can definitely see differences in reception quality based on the type of RX antenna that are being used.
I modified my VRX with a custom face and a TrueRC patch/omni set. Gets me out a full 5 miles before I start to worry. It definitely helped!
