This song was written as a joke basically. Noah has said in interviews that they wrote it to prove how easy it is to write a radio rock song. Ironically this is the song that blew up on TikTok and made them famous
I kinda hate that though. Like, it feels insulting to your audience. I dunno maybe I’m reading into it too much. I still think he’s got a great voice. Thanks for watching my dude 😊
It started as a joke but then they realized they were writing a good song. Their attitude changed and they put effort into making it great. Now we get to enjoy something amazing.
Yeah, these guys are really so good. Their collab with Poppy ('V.A.N.") really paints them like a new NIN. Others i really dig... - Nowhere to Go - Like a Villain - Concrete Jungle Always a pleasure - Rock on, Melisa! 🤘😎👍
So I think you'd really enjoy the video for Dethrone (gritty, kinda horror-y, dark), but the live version of the song from Sumerian Records is absolutely superior.
My take on the music video is that both characters were in the facility to relive their past memories together. Something goes wrong with hers and causes his memories to get all borked. Thats why they made a point to show her bracelet, in the messed up memories she died but when he runs out of his room in the present you see she was in the other room.
Yeah I’m sure it was lost on me which is bad on my part. I think I was probably a little disappointed because the last venture was so my brand of music and vid. I’ll watch it a few more times so I can digest and give the video a better chance. Seems fair. Thanks for the rundown my dude 😊💪
@@SoulSingerDiscovers if you want something like Death of Peace of Mind, give Like a Villain, Concrete Jungle, or Artificial S*icide a listen! One of my favorites is Limits - it's much more radio friendly rock but it has a super catchy hook and a neat video. As others have said, check out Dethrone if you want to see how heavy they can get! They have a live video for that song and it is so good.
As usual I think your take is pretty spot on. I like other tracks I've heard from them much better and I think those endeavors are much more creative. Tracks like Dethrone really show off much more of their versatility and interesting creative choices.
wdym... Dethrone feels like the other extream compared to this song... it's almost the same riff and Noah is singing in the exact same tone and the song isn't changing that much from start to finish, similarly to this. They're not bad songs, I love both and listened to them hundreads of times, but they're not crazy interesting like The Death of Peace of Mind for instance. That's way more memorable and the song progression feels like a journey, those are the best songs for reactions imho
@@AlexRaiu Agree to disagree ;) I think Dethrone shows range (as it varies from their more mainstream tracks) it has personality in abundance, it has a more interesting/unique narrative and it feels more alive/arresting IMHO. No shade to the band or Noah's vocals I just find this track to be pretty vanilla and without a lot new to bring to the table. For my taste I'd choose Like a Villain over this.... but that's the great thing about taste everybody has their own! So if this is more of your jam, good on ya!
@@aarinmiles990 I get that, it makes sense from that point of view. I was talking more generally, about what new music and new bands bring to table, and from that pov, Just Pretend is not crazy special from a clean vocals perspective, and Dethrone is almost the same, but from a screaming vocals pov. I think Like a Villain is more interesting than both :D
That was an okay song. I wish that there was more instrumentation. Believe Me, this Dude is shiny! Worked outside in the hot humid city all day. It is about 33 degrees C, with high humidity and an air quality alert! At least You cool Me down after work... Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤
Definitely less interesting than their first. Very standard radio rock tune (apparently this was intentional according to other comments). Doesnt really do much for me at all, even if it was well produced and well performed. Sounds like a poor mans Esoterica, who i think ill recommend on Monday 👀
See that makes me dislike them if I’m honest. That’s such an edgelord thing to do. ‘Yeah I just wrote it as a joke and these dumb dumbs enjoyed it’. Oh man!!! Do I hate Bad Omens now? Maybe. 🤔 yeah stick on the Discord I would be interested to hear 🥰

@@SoulSingerDiscovers yea I can see where you're coming from with that. I just think it's funny lol

A more egregious example is that new Architects song they wrote complaining about the fans, ironically the best song they put out in ages.
He may have done it as a joke but there is no radio friendly rock band that can make a song this good.

- Nowhere to Go
- Like a Villain
- Concrete Jungle
Always a pleasure - Rock on, Melisa! 🤘😎👍
intro felt like I tuned into an episode of "Deadliest Catch"
Maybe that’s what they were going for 🎣
if an armed assailant breaks into your home...you break into song!
That’s always my go to ‘Why, why, whhhhyyyyyy Delilah 😁

You had me at Horror-y :) Thank you! Ill check it out
I second this, go for the live version for sure, that goes for every other song by bad omens as well
Finalllyyyyy

Emo Total Recall John Wick. Judgy Wudgy was correct!

Plz plz plz do a few songs from boston manor, listen to foxglove first
Maybe the video is making it worse then it is, but it feels very paint by numbers.
girly voice to me but you now mainstream and all
It’s not their best song I will agree 🧐
Metal????? GlitterGoth ;-)
This song included about everything I despise about American "metal"
You’re a spicy meatball Subway, and I love you. It’s not a great outing tbf 💩
I love Bad Omens … but this is my least favorite of theirs. It’s musically boring. “Artificial Suicide” and “Like a Villain” are much better choices
this video is ridiculous, takes me out of the song.
Yeah same I’m not a fan 💩
