Ihsahn is Einar's brother in law. He is one of the most respected musician on the Norwegian Metal scene and in the Black Metal community as a solo artist and with Emperor. Speaking of them, they are still performing and they are one of the first bands to come on the Metal scene from the early days of the Norwegian Black Metal scene. The band formed in 1991 in Notodden. Their influence is huge on today's scene.
Leprous were Ihsahn's backing band live early doors. Ihsahn is Einer's brother in law. They don't normally have 2 drummers. This was I believe a one off show in Norway and so they invited their earlier drummer back in to have some fun, which is super cool. The violinist was the guy on the original album recording as well. The song "features" Ihsahn so he does most of the vocals. The ending is bloody marvelous quite disturbing which I like. I have seen them live a few times (I am a gig whore😂) and they do sound amazing live. Great pick and reaction. All the best.
I was first introduced to Leprous while waiting in front of the stage for Ihsahn to start at Wacken 2013. I can't remember who was playing on the active stage next door (or two stages down?) But I could hear this really awesome jam coming from behind the curtains on Ihsahn's stage. It sounded so different to what he played at that time. It was really melodic and groovy. When it stopped, I was left with a mystery. What was that? Then a while later Ihsahn began his set with his "backing band", and that's when I first beheld the incredible keyboardist of that band. His vocals were amazing. Frankly, he kind of stole the show. And late that evening, I wrestled with the hotel Wi-Fi to go on a deep dive to find out who he was. And that's when I learnt about Leprous. I eventually saw them when they toured here in Australia, which was an incredible show.
First? Anyways. Leprous are amazing and this whole concert is dope af. Ihsahn is his brother in law and most of the Leprous members have also been in Ihsahn's live band for a number of years.
First off - they had two drummers for this show! One is the current drummer and one is the old drummer who left after they released the album Coal. :) Slight correction - Ihsahn is the brother in law (he's married to Einar's sister). For some reason I remembered Einar having more to do in the first half, but oh well lol I've seen Leprous live once and they were absolutely phenomenal. I would highly recommend! I absolutely love the back half of this song in particular - first half is great, don't get me wrong, but the atmosphere in the 2nd half is just enchanting to me. Eyes and ears glued to the performance. I can understand why it didn't get for you though lol Hope you are doing well, Mel! PS I see you decided against reacting to Hellripper. Guess you'll have to find out what they're like next Saturday!
King Crimson 2014 to 2020 THREE drummers in the front row of a 7 to 8 piece band. No studio albums, but a lot of top notch first class unworldly album and video releases.
I thought of that line-up too on mention of the difficulty of arranging two drummers. You probably know then that one of those drummers, the late Bill Rieflin, pulled double drumming duty with Martin Atkins on an early Ministry tour. Whilst not on the same level of complexity as Leprous or Crimson, it's pretty unconventional for a band coming from a metal/new wave background, and still one of my favourite concert videos ua-cam.com/video/sNCeL7oepIM/v-deo.htmlsi=oEx0mhM-rhY3GZNM
"Ishnar" 😅😅😂 The fact that some people now know Ihsahn as "Einar's brother(-in-law)", rather than the other way around, is kind of hilarious. Man's got 8 albums and 3 EPs under his own name, plus 5 as second-wave black metal legend Emperor, you should give him a listen 😉
I go in and out on Prog. It's best when mixed with another genre so it less often descends into noodling in circles. Don't mind some wandering, but we should have a direction.
Ihsahn is his brother in law and far more known in the metal community. He fronted a legendary and influential Norwegian black metal band Emporer which was one of the leaders in the 90s black metal scene. It took two drummers to match the power of Ihsahn's vocals.
Going further into the family, Peccatum is an avant-garde metal project (now defunct) between Ihsahn and his wife (Einar's sister) Ihriel (aka Heidi Solberg Tveitan). I think the album Lost in Reverie was their best take on what they were trying to achieve. And many of the musical ideas explored by Pecattum eventually manifested in Ihsahn's self-titled solo project. Ihriel also has a non-metal project that's still apparently active called, Star of Ash. However, the most recent album was 2016's "The Thread".
Nesse último ano assisti leprous e einard solo e posso dizer que ambos os projetos são incríveis! Você poderia fazer uma análise de Einard solo tamhem, fica a sugestão!!! Abraços do Brasil! Seu trabalho e ótimo!
Just a fun Family Band, playing sweet music for the people. :D I loved this, although I agree that sometimes Prog can get a little noodle-y. As usual, it boils down to good music being good-and that's the only label I'm interested in. Fun and informative reaction, as always!
No Metalhead Mussings! I say this with love in my cold, black heart fir you Melisa, you need to go to therapy! Something is not working like it should with you and I'm concerned. Seeking help is a good thing. We need to fix this so Metalhead Mussings can flourish once again. I am here fir you and we will get through this together 😂😂😂🤘🏻🇬🇧🖤
Cool song! Good band! The rythm section in great, bass and drums! Pretty unique lyrics! I do not know if I will ever be on another Metalhead Musing again? That red shirt looks great on You! Please check out the song Bled For Days, by Static X. Bellisimo! Keep up the great work My Fine Scottish Lady! ❤❤❤
King Crimson 1973 - 1974 David Cross violin, viola, keys, 1973 double drumming Bill Bruford and Jamie Muir albums Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Starless and Bible Black
You need to get you some Peccatum to see how the rest of the family does music. This is a power family when it comes to this scene and Peccatum is the nice blend before you dabble into Emperor.
Leprous has some great music, which I like and the Vocalist is very talented, however I cannot get into their studio stuff. I am enjoying the live stuff though.

I didnt know that! He kinda has a similar scream.

@Melisa I will be seeing Leprous along with another great Prog Metal band Earthside on Sept 18th! Look for vids from me

Yes, so much yes on top of other yesses, spiced up with a little bit of yes + a fiddle + a gong.
Great job by the music technicians and also the post-production. Great band, unconventional.
Couldn’t agree more! I can’t imagine how challenging it will have been to tech on this gig 😎

I wonder when you´ll hear their latest album or even their latests singles
Not enough prog 😂 We need Caligulas Horse!!!!
Einar should let his brother sing way more..... liked this a lot more than other Leprous songs I've heard
Check out Ihsahn's self titled album he released last year if you liked this song
Ihsahn is not in the band, he is a guest singer in a couple of Leprous songs
He’s not Einars brother. He is married to his sister 😊
