Most surgeries that can be performed on humans can be performed on other animals. Putting them under tends to be more dangerous because humans are generally better at surviving trauma, but if it's important enough to one's health or quality of life, it's totally worth it.

I can relate to this pup! I was the youngest in a large family in the 50's and could see nothing but a blur of colors, unless something was within a few inches of my face. I had no idea of how I was supposed to be seeing, so never complained (I was just considered to be a klutz). It was my 5th grade teacher who figured it out, after we had a math test, and the problems had been written on the board. I got every one of them wrong (I used to pull at the sides of my eyes to try to see), but my homework was always correct. He noticed that the problems were written down wrong. I remember the eye doctor, after the exam, telling my mother it was a wonder I was never hit by a car, as I couldn't see one coming (I couldn't even see the big "E" on the chart, just a blur of white). I will never forget the day I got my glasses, the beginning of November 1963, when I got 20/20 sight! It was and will always be the happiest day of my life.
Kudos to everyone that helped this pup see again!

Maybe they couldn’t afford surgery for her and knew that if a rescue picked her up, they would raise money for her surgery? Maybe it was the ultimate love for her? So maybe they didn’t «dump» her, but rather gave her a chance to see again?

A lot of people hand over their pets so they can get treatment. It’s actually a good thing. I knew someone that had dropped their dog off because they had cancer that they couldn’t afford to treat. The shelter treated her cancer. It was either give her up or out her down, both options are hard the the owner

quite a few years ago now, our husky / Kelpie cros, Mitzi, went diabetic, she was around 10 at the time. After a few months she developed diabetic catarachs and was blind. We took her to the Vet teaching hospital in Columbia Missouri, and they said they could put new lenses in, she would be able to see again! At the time it cost 3k, which for us was a lot, she was there for a week including surgery, and the day we went to pick her up was the best day of my life! We took her best mate, our Smithfield Kelpie Jess, and Mitzi walked into the room and went straight to Jess, my wife and i were bawling our eyes out, the surgeon, doctors and nurses all starting crying, it was just such a great feeling. Mitzi lived to 16 years, we managed her diabeties, she got a full happy life. We don't always win, but when you do its sensational!

I used to view it the same way. then I realized that when people foster they are in a way like teachers, nurses, carers of elders, nanies. they help those in need, but they are meant to teach, help etc others as well. and even though each animal is unique, in a way it is not a one and only love, which makes it easier for both parties to deattach.

I about dropped my phone when I saw this! Our previous dog Cali looks just like Hazel, markings and all, and she was the first dog I lived with. We had to put her down because her seizures were so bad and we couldn't help. I am glad Hazel has a wonderful home now :3 beautiful doppledogger!

She is so sweet and absolutely adorable. What she can't see with her eyes she makes up with her other senses. But now that Hazel has her vision she is even happier. I thought she was gonna wag out of her skin when she saw u all for the first time. I know it's so hard to foster and become attached but u all will have a cushy cloud when u get to heaven. Now she's in her forever home with ppl that will love her. WHAT AN AMAZING STORY OF HAZEL......💖🐕🐾💞

First off God Bless Mr Bones and Co. This rescue have to be one of my absolute faves. These people are genuinely so compassionate and will do whatever they can and whatever it takes to save these furries. Truly there are so so many great rescues out there who truly spend every waking moment saving these babies and I for one am thankful to each and everyone all over the world who do this tiring and sometimes so frustrating work, yet end of the day so very fulfilling.
This baby getting her eyes fixed from having cataracts is such a beautiful blessing. Thanks to her fosters who took good care of her and then her furever home. Gotta love all these people🙏🏽❤️

I had a Mini Schnauzer that became diabetic and with 4 weeks of Me being told of her condition she lost her eye site she was only 4 years old and there was not way I was going to let go the rest of her life blind so I had the surgery done on her and she regained her site and lived to be 15 years old full of life. It was a chore to keep her stable with her being Diabetic but I gave it my best she was My $20,000 dollar dog but I would have not had it another way.

I can never get enough of these stories. As a lover of all our four legged friends, I often get emotional. This story in particular is one of them that brought a tear to my eye. God bless Hazel and all who helped this angel to live her best life. I just want you to know you are hero's.

This is s amazing… what a beautiful soul she is, and it has always astonished me how blind people and animals interact with the world, it literally looked like she knew where everything was even before surgery… now she has her sight and a family which she so desperately deserved - really awesome stuff!
