Wow, great post mate. I’m having health issues and part of it is damage to my face. Unfortunately it effects people’s perception, judgement etc but my husky came into my life just as it was starting to crumble.
He protects me, watches over me on really ill days, the meds in on can cause vertigo and if I hit the dirt he’ll stand over me protectively then when I’m ready he will physically help me of the ground.
What you said really resonated. He doesn’t judge me, see me different etc and just always makes me feel special. Friends, work colleagues and others one by one turned away from me. Making me feel inadequate etc because it feels like it’s because I’m no longer of any use to them. But not my big lad. If anything he loves me more.He is my best mate and what you said about dogs not caring about how we look , are etc but just loving us for us. So so true mate 👍🏻

No we are ok thank you so much! It got close 10 miles away but I was ready to evacuate. I had Roo and everyone packed up ready to go if we had too. We got lucky 🙏

What a beautiful story. I lived in Sacramento for 7 years and I’ve adopted three animals and volunteered whenever possible. My old employer offered us and opportunity to give back. If you volunteered 20hrs every quarter the shelter would receive $200.00 check. I stayed with that employer for 3 1/2 years, you do the math!! Nothing is more rewarding then giving back to someone or an animal(s) who have no voice.

About two years ago my sons wife opened their front door and she saw something that scared her so shut the door,then she opened it again.
It wad a pug puppy that appeared to have been “ placed “ on their front porch,it’s right eye was hanging out,she called my son at work and he came home immediately.
Long story short bus eye had to be removed but he doesn’t even notice just like this sweet dog,.
This is their fourth rescue dog they sadly lost one about four months ago,but they also have a rescue sheep.
It’s people like this woman and others on the Dodo my don and his wife that. make the world a better place...thank you.
Roo has no idea he’s different, but he knows he’s special. 🤗

How special. Those dogs are lucky to have a nice mom. I would have loved to see the Shepherd walking in the wheelchair a bit more. I find that very satisfying. Thank God that the original family were brave enough to admit to being overwhelmed and surrendered Roo. There are so many examples and stories of folks just abandoning their pets (due to unexpected medical costs, plain irresponsibility, or a "surprise" litter of pups/kittens). It just breaks my heart.

Hooray!!!🤗💕😍 So very happy Roo landed in such a loving home with a foster Dad that "got" him, gave him room to grow, and set him up for a successful adoption. This is a happily- ever-after story. His new Mom and Auntie are like fairy godmothers. His new brother and he seem to click. Not quite sure about the wheelchair on hilly & uneven property, but it looks like Mom, Auntie, and Roo will figure things out, & that Roo will have a wonderful life.
