Found out the hard way that despite what Boox posted on their UA-cam channel, you do not get the free cover / nib deal if you buy off of Amazon.
One thing to note for all is that the existence of a new device does not mean your current device is outdated. I am still using my 2018 iPad and it's still great!

Refreshing not to hear "should you upgrade? Yes, this is newer blablabla..." like you get with so many product reviews. Interested in this comparison to see how far the tech has come 1 year on (got my NA2+ 1 year ago). Good to see the progress being made but pretty sure my NA2+ will still be doing what I need for a good while yet. But then I also still have a 2016 ipad which works perfectly. But the e-ink future it points to is exciting. Something like the NA3C with perhaps the screen contrast and battery life closer to the NA2+ in perhaps a year or 18 months - that would be a great reason to buy new.

This is the most awesome video. I was all about it for the color and now know what else I want because of improvements, but being able to keep what I have until either price drops or note 4 comes out is a viable thing.
Oh yeah, love the new launch! the Tab ultra C pro for me was not expected, I hoped for a Tab X C but the Note Air 3 C is awesome so finally I bought it! :D so happy
Yeah, i wasn't expecting them to update the tab ultra just yet either. It's also a little bit earlier for a new tab x. Hope you really enjoy the device. It is brilliant. Let me know how you feel about it once you've tried it out for a little while.
The Note Air 2 plus is receiving also the same software features. Currently joining the Beta-Testing and have the V3.5 software features there.

I'm interested to get the Note Air 3 C, but want to know if there is a case available with a charging cable cut-out in the binding, so it doesn't need to be left open to charge. I can't seem to find one. Anyone know?

In using my NA2+ I'm mostly interested in reading PDFs so I will never upgrade to a device with a lower contrast, even if its hardware is superior. Hopefully, future iterations of color eink will fix this issue!
My Note Air 2+ is doing exactly what I need it to do. However, I may start to read more on the Boox device with color. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this, but as I draw (write Japanese kanji) on the right edge, the lines become about an 1/8 inch off-set from the pen nib. I've tried various different pens, all with the same result. Any else experience this? Maybe a reason to upgrade.
Is the magnetic clasp of the case? This is always the trade off for magnetic cases and wacom EMR screens. Try out of the case and see if it is still there.

Hello Kit! I really appreciate your videos, they helped me a lot in making my first e-book purchase: Air3 C, and I'm absolutely loving it so far. I have a question though: my reseller only sold black cover cases, so I didn't buy one. Can you please confirm that Air2 cases are compatible with Air3C? There are a lot of 3rd party versions, but they are all listed as Air2 accessories. By the looks of it both models look identical in size, but I'd really like a confirmation from you. Thanks!

I think you'll get on better with the note air 3 C, because the reading application is really good.
how does it compare with previous note airs sizewise? do their cases/ screen protectors fit the new air 3c?
Oh yeah, it is ever so slightly smaller than the previous note air, and that is because the bezels are a bit thinner. So, no, the cases don't fit.
Is this worth leaving the Remarkable ecosystem for? I have the R2, love the immediate access to note taking and writing experience, but it's starting to feel limited and tired. Does the NA3C come on instantly if you open the cover screen? Appreciate your channel.
Appreciate you watching, yeah, it is. For me, going to the remarkable is a choice to leave the Android ecosystem that I was invested in even before I became an e-ink addict. It does wake up quickly, initial start up isn't fast but it can happily stay on standby, and it is ready to go.
Considering this as my first e-ink product. Looks very good and not as expensive as tab ultra c / pro.

In terms of reading novels, how are these 2? I want one for note taking, but I do read from time to time, sometimes if I really like it, I will finish a few in a few sitting if I have time
I think for long sessions reading you'd be happier with the black and white, both because the white space is whiter and the battery is a lot better.
I have a question regarding the Note application of the Note Air 2+, i'm considering buying it but idk if it's like a papyrus style of writing where you go down and down as you write or is it page by page where it cuts at the end of the page ?
Interesting question. It would be great if both were possible. I am looking for a device that I can also use for online teaching and there the papyrus style would be great.

The Note Air 3 C is better in my opinion, choose the NA2+ if you need longer battery life and only want to use written words.
King of vocal fry 😅 Thanks for the comparison. To my eye the colors are ... charming, but not quite there yet. Reminds me of printed material making it to the west from Eastern Europe back in the 80's. When drawing, the terrible lag in Android apps has to be solved. I get that the build-in notes app does it quite well.
You mention black and white text being better on the 2 - does that mean that the 300dpi “upgrade” makes no difference in reality? I.e. the colour filter still makes this worse than the 2 plus screen?
It's more to do with the white space being slightly darker and it has this very fine matrix (the colour array), which is there all the time. This means that whites look whiter on the B/W screen.
@@KitBetts-Masters Thanks, my 3c just arrived and I have to say I disagree that text looks better on the 2 - I'm delighted with the text quality at 300dpi, a significant upgrade on the previous Note Airs for me. The darker background is a non-issue also, when counteracted with the front light.
If I got the 3 c and set it up like the note 2 (black and white), would I manage to achieve similar battery life?
No, there is no way to turn off colour I am afraid.

Wow! When I first saw the presentation, it didn't seem all that new or truly distinctive to me. But now that you've shown them side by side, the difference is quite noticeable. I still have the Note Air 1, and I'll continue to have it for several more years due to my lack of funds. But if money weren't a constraint, and I could, I would upgrade it. Great video, as usual.
ps: Could you please make a video showing how the Spacedesk app works on the new Note Air 3C?
Yeah, sure thing. I was using that earlier on, actually, and i found it really useful just as a quick way to do pen input into photoshop on my big pc. Brilliant.
Hi there. I purchased the Note Air3 C and compared it in the office with a Note 2. I was a bit surprised, that the "lights off" white of my Note Air 3C was a lot more "grayish" than the Note 2. Is this something I missed when choosing the Note Air3 C? I was under the impression, that black and white content still shows with same advantages than non color devices.
Yeah, it is just the colour e-ink screen, that's a well known trade off that I've talked about a fair bit. To be honest I am sort of used to it now, and I generally run the device with lights off. :-)

In regards to the difference: yes. Me too. I did not see an issue and was only getting a bit emotional I guess. Newer is not always better :) But turns out that is Carta vs Kaleido 3 eInk, right. Still in love with the Note air 3C. And I enjoy the carta plus screen with my boox page.

There's been a lot of discussion about exactly which chips and clock speed we have in this device. I think that CPU-Z might be throwing up inaccuracies here. But I have had it confirmed that the NA3C uses a Snapdragon 6225 2.4GHz chip: www.qualcomm.com/products/mobile/snapdragon/smartphones/snapdragon-6-series-mobile-platforms/snapdragon-680-4g-mobile-platform
Regardless, it's a fast e-ink device and an absolute joy to use!
Whats the battery differences?
I'll have to give it a more thorough test, but at the moment the note air three c does seem to be doing a little bit better than the recent tab devices. But it isn't great.

Yeah, it's fabulous to read on.
The blacks on the Air 3 C look darker than on the Air 2
They do. But i think honesty, i might be able to increase the darkness on the black and white ink screen. You tend to lose the contrast on that older screen, when you're not in the HD mode.
If AIR 3C has a 2.8 and the Ultra C pro has a 2.8 why does the PRO destroy Air in one of your more recent videos? I was going to get an AIR but now I’m fixated on the performance of the ultra Pro!
Haha, interesting point. I don't quite know the answer. I think maybe the processor speed is not the only factor. For example most intel processors haven't got much faster in the last decade or so, but the real world performance has improved because of all the other factors that make for quick computing. It could be as simple as thermal management, or the speed of the buses in the SoC.

I really hope they upgrade the NA2+ to Android 12. I saw on Reddit that someone got 3.5 beta on his device, so...
I also don't think I'll upgrade to color in exchange for great battery life on a device I exclusively use for note taking.
Yeah, i hope so too. I don't think necessarily that three point five has to be on android twelve, though. So fingers crossed, but don't get your hopes up!
Yeah, it may as well be chipset dependant. That would make sense. So maybe that's why we're just getting betas now.
@@KitBetts-Masters As I got an old 32 GB 13,3" Max 2 (very cheap on eBay; I think this one is from 2018?) some weeks ago, I might add that this oldie, while running on ancient Android 6, did upgrade effortlessly to the firmware version V 3.3.2 and does synch my notes with the Boox Drop App on my Acer laptop as well as my Samsung phone, and it easily transfers files by just dropping them within the same Wi-Fi network.
I just don't get access to the Google PlayStore (anymore?); I don't know whether it is blocked (edit: and, yes, I did enable GooglePlay) or just too slow to connect, but for my use case of mainly reading PDFs in full size instead of printing them to have them next to me AND for the PDFs to be searchable (I am doing freelance copy editing and proof reading, oftentimes checking citations or having to look at the latest proof before something goes off to printing), this is perfect.
So, even if the NA(2+) won't get Android 12, it should be usable for some more years.
Getting this old biggie (next to a Nova Air 2) really did assure me of Boox's claim to support even older devices for quite some time.
