I agree with you I have a remanufactured rebuilt deer 7000 just like that only has four row and I have precision meters in and they'll stand some pretty high-speed planting if I usually run mine about 3 mph now granted I don't have his amount of corn to plant some of these guys do but I found you don't push too hard don't go too fast you get a nice understand and you're a lot easier on the planter the tractor and not to mention the operator
When my dad was a contractor, here in New Zealand, we used to run 2 jd 7000 4 row planters, mainly because they were easier to get into farmer's paddocks, we planted about 6-700 acres a year with those, pulling them with jd 6410's.
I pretty much grew up on the dairy farm down the street when I was a kid starting in the 60s until I went to college. The farmer bought a brand new ih 656 in the 60s, I think. Tricycle front end don’t remember if gas or diesel. That box you see on the right fender of that 686 is a am radio. There was also one on the 656. Don’t know how good you could hear it as I was too small to drive that tractor. Awesome video! Thanks
That thing is a little sweetheart of a tractor. Somebody has some time in the restoration on that one. I’d venture a guess it’s a little north of 66 horse now cause there is definitely a turbski under the hood now. Lol
My family's farm ran a 560 for years until the cylinders froze up. Still have it and plan to restore it. We still run an 806 on the manure spreader and the hay rake. It was the biggest HP tractor on the farm until this year. Love the old red iron!
I joined the 21st century and bought a JD 5125R, the first green tractor we've had on the farm.. My brother made up for it by buying and restoring a Farmall M identical to the one we sold in the 80s. 😄 Love the videos!
My Grandpa fooled around with them little Ford and Case tractors in the mid 60"s--then a good IH dealer talked him into buying a "real tractor" {his words}That 656 narrow front diesel is still here along with a 686 wide front diesel he purchased as well-these 2 tractors have no balance due to us-in fact i"ve told the boys if there is ever a fire to get these out and leave the 7330 premiums for second--once a IH man--always a IH man-thx for the memories
Pulled a JD 7000 6 row planter with a 656 gas tractor for many years before retiring 4 years ago. Still have the tractor with 10,000 hours on it and motor never been touched!
Good classic tractor! We had one and just sold it a few years ago now. We are an International combine and tractor family here in the Willamette Valley of Oregon.
I have an 886 with the ROPS. My father purchased it new in 1978. Still use it along with a Farmall 656 and Farmall M to run a hobby farm. Mainly hay making. Guess I always thought the 886 was the lowest one in that series, that’s the literature I found with the books for the tractor. Learned something new today.
Nice IH line up. My neighbor had an 886 ROPS, 686 and 656. I like the ROPS 886 allot. The 686 was the entry model and jumped to the 886. In 1981 the 686 was replaced by a 786 which is on a larger frame. The 786 only came as an open station and a ROPS.
@@bigtractorpower I love the sound of the 886 diesel and the snort of the 656 gasser! Had to rebuild the 886 engine last year due to a cylinder sleeve getting a pinhole and dumping all the coolant into the oil. That was my dad’s tractor when we were farming, so trying to keep them in good condition. Always had red for tractors mainly, I do have a AC D17 series IV tractor I used a lot growing up, unfortunately it’s in rough shape. It’s had a lot of use over the years.
Nice machine. It does look a little funny with the light bars on the fenders. I think they look great on old cab tractors above the windshield or on a hard canopy, but it just looks wrong in place of the round lamps.
congratulations on your channel and beautiful footage and great capture, today I posted on my channel in another angle another video of the locomotives of the logistical course in Araraquara s.p- Brazil, thanks.
Great tractors. We have a gas 686 with a 2250 loader on it. Much tighter than the 656 it took over for even tho they are basically the same. It was a one owner tractor when we bought it, all original.
Nice ride right their be great with sonthing needing to be turned around sharp i like row crops great for tilling rows and plowing hit the end of row and spin right around some say use the break but i never had to use a break on one
That’s awesome Doing what it was designed to do I must say that’s a pretty big field I must take that guy a little while to plant all that corn in that field
Very enjoyable video Jason. Old school tractor with no cab at that. Was wondering if Michigan Farm Photos films for you at different times?? Thanks for sharing. GO BTP💪👍👍
I might be wrong, but from my understanding, isn't the 686 just a continuation of the 666, which is a continuation of the 656? Of course with drive train updates and body style changes.
Oh wow, I didn't knew, that these tractors were build in Neuss. I was there at a factory tour in 1993 I guess when the maxxum came out, it was amazing. But it is also closed now 😢
Very cool you got to see the factory. The 686’s diesel engine was manufactured in Neuss the tractor was built in Rock Island. The 756’s engine was also made at Neuss.
I am not sure that it is the same in US but here where I live, less and less people are willing to work in the field so the remaining farms are growing and farmers are forced to use bigger and bigger machines that are equally expensive, forcing them into debt. Yet, as we can see in this video and others provided by our favourite BTP, it is totaly possible to work with smaller and much cheaper machines - all it takes are big families that stay there to work, children that inherit the farms and continue to work there, using old machines or smaller and cheaper new ones, staying away from the debt slavery with six figure priced tractors and combines Sadly, very few stay to work the fields and produce food, everyone wants to go to big city and live and work there.
This farmer still making profit with payed off equipment. Not sure about other fancy farmers with millions of dollars equipment. Great to see this getting it done😀😀
Good to see I'm not the only one still using a 6 row 7200!
Hell we still use a couple 7000's. Old iron gets it done.
Still using a four row 7200
Old iron still getting the job done.
Nice looking Oliver going by on the road.
Great video! Several things you don’t see everyday in this one - narrow front, dry fertilizer hoppers, markers
Yes ,I'm 61 and this is how I remember farming. Over 40 years since I lived on a farm.
Thank you for watching. I have good memories of a 686 with duals planting with an Allis Chalmers 333 6 row in the late 70s.
We planted, plowed and picked corn with a AC D19 thats all I ever knew and I miss it bad
I’m with you... old school farming and IH & Farmal tractors, were the all time best
Nice to see the older tractors still working in the field
It’s great to film them in action.
Nice steady operator who knows it don’t always have to blow black smoke. 👌
😁👍

This ranks right up there with the coolest videos you've ever done!
Nice ! Thanks Jason. I'm planting corn with a I h 1086 tractor pulling a allis chalmers 600 6 row planter. Getting it done slowly but surely.
Oh wow that’s cool. I grew up watching a 686 with duals pulling a 6 row AC 333. Where do you farm?
@@bigtractorpower we farm in fauquier county virginia.

My highest admiration to the farmer where you filmed.
I like the drone footage, seems like it gets better and better every time.
Very nice old 686. I remember when my grandfather bought one of the first 6 row planters in the area. It seemed huge!
Very cool.
Thanks my dad planting we had a wide front with a international planter...
He worked hard!

You might be right there that is my grandpas tractor. And yes it north of 66 horse
Wow this brings back memories ... grew up in the late 70's and early 80's riding on one of these IH .. man I miss those days
Dad bought a 686 back in the early 90s with 400 hours on it. Still uses it to plant today and now it has over 9000 hours
Its always fun to see the old iron tractors at work
I planted a many a row with that very 7200 30 inch John Deere planter loved every minute of it. Don't use it anymore but still have it.
😁👍
This video reminds me of my childhood growing up in the early 80's. Great find!

That's a nice rig. We run a 656D and an IH 800 cyclo planter
Love old red tractors. We have 2 1066’s and a 766, mainly for auger work and other small tasks around the farm
Very nice. Hard to beat a 66.
Brought home a f656D in December, just about done going through it now. Gonna run mower and baler with it for hay and turn dirt with it in the fall
I think it would be interesting seeing how this guy farms all his ground. Other equipment and his farming methods. Neat video! Thanks!
Old school, love it. Thank you
😁👍👍
The light bars in the fender is a sweet idea!
Nice to see a local farmer on BTP !!!
Very nice video, like the tractor sound in the drone footach, very special, nice IH and bonus Oliver
Love seeing the old school equipment out in the field!
My favorite to get to film.

Now that guys making money...I had a 656 diesel years ago. Wish I still did.
We have had several as of now Super M,685,666,C90,986 and 7110. Good show. I not a green fan but that is a good planter.
Those rear tires are HUGE!!!
It is an interesting set up for a 686.
@@bigtractorpower i know good and well those ARE WAY bigger than factory standard size they are so big they allmost hit the fenders

I would love to own one of those, I would also be happy if I could go down to that farm and spend a few days driving it.

Another interesting one going past on the road @ 7:00. Oliver, I think
It is an Oliver. Always fun to catch some tractor road traffic.
Very nice, she's a beaut 👍
Looks like a vintage Oliver going down the road, yes man machine markers open air no gps no electronics just steel chains and iron,
Good eyes on the Oliver. It’s always neat to catch some tractor traffic in the background.

Something not seen much in a while is a Narrow front end.
Rare sighting for sure.
Looks good, but it need cast wheels on the rears.
How can he possibly know where to go and where he has been without GPS?
The marker arms help make repeated row after row.
Oliver sighting at 6:50
I still use a 4 row 7200, with a 766 ih on it.
Is dont understand tricycle style front axle. Is there any avantage?
Tight turning, row crop cultivating and mounted corn pickers. By the time of the 686 the narrow front was all but gone.
