Dad said grandpap and he used to do it by blocking the openings to space the rows out to 38, i think that was what it was to let horses walk through safely
Excellent video Farmall Fanitic :) also planting is fun to do and challenge too included! On axles spindles for wheels do ever put grease on spines so slip on nice and bolts on U clamps bracket with oil or grease on nuts so spin on or off easily to ? I know lots farmers my way do sometimes on nuts use Anti Seize thin layer on also spindles to also!
Good day Many yrs ago my dad cleared a spot, old water hole, tile it , black soil & planted corn seed on it with seed drill, boy it grew really well, no fertilizer . Thanks
That's pretty cool that you can plant corn with a drill . Do plan on chopping it or leaving it for the deer ? Thanks for sharing and have a great evening !
We always ran the dualing hubs the other way on our 7 and 9. The 7 has 100 inch axles with 15.5xR38 and the 9 has 118 inches axles with 18.4R38. It was always easier to tighten 2 u bolts than line up 9 hub bolts. I'm not sure of your duals would fit with the hubs flipped. That was for us do what works.
If you want to get fancy you can get those magnetic coated plastic floor vent covers for mobile homes that close off the registers in unused rooms, and then cut them up into covers for the seed meters on the drill... the magnetic stuff holds them in place.
Always enjoyed puttin up an down the fields puting seed in the ground 👍 we had a new guy came to work for us an we told him to run grain drill wheel inside mark from previous run 👍 he thought he be clever an run. Wheel mark on. Wheel mark 😳 🤣🤣
I always wondered if you could do this, simply for the fact in my area it seems cheaper to get a good grain drill over a good planter so I figure if one can do all jobs then why not right?
What are your thought's concerning gasoline powered tractor's (especially your 756, 400, M) with the current price of gasoline as compared to diesel powered tractor's?
FF, you should use safety glasses when running an impact wrench on heavy duty work like that. Can't replace eyes. Just concerned about your well being. Peter
You can cover some of the holes with duct tape and plant in close to a regular planter. My uncle did it before he could afford a planter. Poor folks got poor ways.
Of course you can plant corn with a drill. If there's a setting for it, you can plant it. And by blocking the holes off, you get your 28" rows, although you have to set your drill to seed 4 times heavier. I have a feeling that you're going to have to pull your dual hubs out. We have found that the hubs have to be almost to the end of the axle to work... When they are right in like that, duals won't quite go on, I don't think, and they need a slight gap. Your hubs are slightly different than what we have. Ours have just straight bolts going in to threaded blocks that clamp the axle, rather than U bolts. Those electric impacts work great.
@@FarmallFanatic It should work. I looked at some of our tractors and every one has the dual hubs right to the end of the axle. I think after looking at them again that your tractor has longer axles.
Hope you didn't waste your time running to Meadville to go to Fastnall, their closed. Franklin is the next closest I think. I have a pair of 38s but that's no help.
The drill worked pretty good for the corn. Great idea using tape. Going to be nice having them duals! lol Have a great weekend FF! See ya!

Yeah that sounds right
Congrats on 27k!!👊
The 7 will look great with duals 🇺🇸
I'm glad you mentioned travel speed when planting with a grain drill you can make a huge mess real quick by traveling too fast.
I'll never understand the speed demon

Hello was thinking tape off the drill before you said so have to see how it goes. Nice work. Have a great day.
Excited to see the 756 dualled up. Boom 💥
Excellent video, battle! Definitely more than one way to plant corn.
You mean the factory farms?
That's pretty cool that you can plant corn with a drill . Do plan on chopping it or leaving it for the deer ? Thanks for sharing and have a great evening !
Catching up again, lol. When you get the duals on it will look like a beast, lol.
Good job on video red power got love red power:)) keep up good video

I've never thought about doing that 🤔
I need to borrow that seed drill next spring, hahahaha
Cool use of a drill for corn. Show an update after the corn is up.
Definitely will
I was surprised there wasn't a way to block off seed tubes other than duct tape, but that should work just fine. Love my Milwaukee!!
I mean a lot of guys put card board over it
@@FarmallFanatic They [some manufacturers] actually made "plates" that clipped in place over the opening.

We need to find you a fast hitch corn planter for the superC or mounted one
I was on one and it sold and I mean it was fully restored I try not to think about it too much

Turned out nice
Please show how the planter works and indexes the seed by chain and shaft
I was wondering how you shut off some of the holes, otherwise that corn would be like a single stalk blocking your way in. lol
I always wondered if you could do this, simply for the fact in my area it seems cheaper to get a good grain drill over a good planter so I figure if one can do all jobs then why not right?
I just wonder if you get the bushels per acre with a drill
It's that time...corn!🌽
I always planned to do the same thing never got to it.
Awesome video. Dumb question here: how do you harvest the narrow rows?
28" rows can be picked with a 30" corn head
I would go one size smaller on the duals alot less stress on the axle .I have 13.8 38s on my 630 and the duals are 12.9 38s
Most guys just put less air in the tires. run about 4 psi...
That way they just hang there as weight until tires slip then they are on the ground and pulling
Looking good! Is the corn going to be a feed plot or are going to harvest it?
Harvest/Chop
@@FarmallFanatic What type of header ? Row crop or grain head ? I tried using a grain head on a combine once. It knocked down as much as it picked.
Just a four row narrow cornhead
*Do you have a corn planter? Duals will be nice im putting them on both my tractors for next year I hope* #WorldsOkayestFarmer
Yep
The answer in my opinion to your caption is yes.
Red Power time 💪🏼❤️
How many ugga duggas do you give those dual hubs? ALL OF THEM!😁👍
Ol' Chinese socket had enough 🤣
I’m not even watching the video yet and I’m going to say yes because I have done it before
How good did the corn end up coming in???
Fantastic for 85 day corn
How many lbs per acre would you say that setting was?
I would say ten to twelve pounds
@@FarmallFanatic Based on your results would you change that amount?
Probably a foolish question but what do you do with the feed that you grow? Do you have various animals and chickens or do sell some of the product?
Many will grind it for muffins, cornbread, or cook it for hominy. Or some grow it for deer hunting or bag to sell to those who do.
I leave no option closed honestly
What are your thought's concerning gasoline powered tractor's (especially your 756, 400, M) with the current price of gasoline as compared to diesel powered tractor's?
Diesel is 6 bucks a gallon here
My old H gets better acres per gallon than a diesel equivalent.
400 uses 4 times the gas as comparable diesel
But u use what yu got
@@hollisrutherford4853 That sounds about right... The diesel 400s are very easy on fuel.
👍👍

Trust me, I thought about that
You shouldn't use Chrome sockets on impacts someone had to say it ha ha
Why not when they wear out or break I just throw them away

Damn right
The question is not can you plant corn, but, how are you going to harvest it ???
28" rows can be picked with a 30" head
Is that 90day BMR...??
Ugga-Dugga...!!!!
It's BRIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ur behind now! Was bush hogging yesterday and ran over a baby deer. And yes it was a boy. Never saw it! Sucks!!
They stay put that's for sure
Man I hate running them over! Had the hog up higher than normal also? It happens!

I guess you can drill corn - but it's not for me
Why do you buy a corn planter
That's the year I sold my four row
Oh OK bro me and my buddy got a 12 row corn planter we us to us two 4 rows them days or done lol
Ok interesting I use cardboard and duct tape
Cardboard is better

OK---when it comes to tightening down nuts and bolts---there's what's called "Farmer Tight"---and then there's Farmall Fanatic TIGHT. smh...
You don't gently snug dual hubs...it's the one thing you let rip
Be careful on the wedge type hubs .I overtorqued a circle of bolts and broke the hub one time. Never thought that would even be possible
Why not use the corn planter ?
Seems like the cost of everything
Why are you fooling around
Plus good crops, lots of money
this year. Just my opinion.
I’ve actually never owned a corn planter and have had grand success with a 510 drill I used cardboard and duct tape though
This was a unit that the raccoons found and ripped into so I figured I would do it
