Because B R E X I T They appear to have forgotten what absolute S*** the Tories are where I live in parts of Rotherham. The part where the Battle of Orgreave took place. Where the army was disguised as Police and allowed to cavalry charge striking miners like some medieval battle. And the current lot are 10x worse.

If you're a working man who followed the tory path; bought shares from Sid and Beatty, sold them straight back to the bank. Bought your council house at a 80% discount, set up your own business, etc. You've probably done OK out of them, and the country. Now the chickens are home to roost, but we sold the coop.

Critical thinking is a crucial skill, but many individuals might not have the time or education to practise it effectively. They often fail to question the underlying motives of society or to ask themselves, "Am I being misled?" This capability to scrutinise information critically is a skill that those in the higher echelons of society are typically well-trained in.
This caller perfectly illustrates the issue: they present a problem and then suggest a drastic solution, such as banning foreigners, without demonstrating the critical thinking necessary to fully understand and consider the facts.

    • @happinesstan

@@sod16 Exactly. This is why Farage was so impactful. He was on every show addressing every problem with a one word reply "Immigrants". This served to abbreviate the issues that people wanted to discuss. And when you've only got seconds to ask a question on programs like QT, people use the short-hand language that is offered by the authoritative figures.
      Does that make sense?

I pointed out that the military accepts people on merit and on their ability to do the job (there's a number of trans individuals currently working for the US military). I said that if a trans person worked in politics, then people could choose not to vote for them or the party they work for. But he disagreed and said laws should be passed to deny them the opportunity. That's bigotry.

Combined with globalisation, where poverty wages can be paid elsewhere by global companies that can choose where and when they pay tax. Next stop will be almost full automation, where, under the current model, the few get even richer and the many aren't employed at all. And there the broken model collapses because the many can't buy the goods of the few. So the state hands out money to go the businesses of the rich and the right screams socialism.
