I never thought to do the Lazy Bastard and There is no Spoon in the same run, my Lazy Bastard run started way slower than Nilaus, really impressive start. Of all the timed achievements, I found the locomotive in 90 minutes the hardest, I failed the first time I tried it and only had about 2 mins to spare when I did get it.
Haven't watched factorio in ages.I am really interested in this series. This is gonna be fun and I look forward to seeing different designs. Please continue this series and I would like to see it become a megabase afterwards :)
I really am pained at the idea of you submitting yourself to these constraints, but at the same time, bringing some new challenges to your style of playing is getting harder and harder. I will be praying that you succeed with the hundred percent challenges and longing for the moment you can hand craft again. Good luck!
I once tried to complete this achievement. But he accidentally crafted a stack of chests when he began to go out into logistic chests. Since then, I did not try again. But maybe I'll try again by disabling manual crafting. P.s. Translated by Google translate.
I just heard SmallAnt talk about this game and looked it up and found this play through. I have never watched or heard of this game. Looking forwards to it, though!
at first i thought the same, until i remembered the changes in 0.17 ... i did it in 0.14 or 0.15 and you needed several late crafts, eg to make assembler 2 (had 4 ingredients) when assembler1 could only handle up to 2 ingredients, and for the refinery (5 ingredients) when assembler2 could only handle up to 4 ingredients while assembler3 itself only needed 4 ingredients and could handle up to 6, but also needed products from refineries. thus many people saved all "remaining crafts" for more refineries or chemplants at the start of midgame, and to have some spare crafts when not using /permissions. btw: without /permissions (which some consider to be a commandline cheat) it should be possible to simply clear the key bindings for crafting until they are needed for those last two crafts, and at the start it may also be helpful to disable "craft 5" and "craft all" (all bindings besides "craft 1")
And since it is only an achievement run, not a speedrun, anything in game that doesn't disable achievements should be permissible. :) Edit: well, except mods.
just in case anybody wouldn't know already: *disable key bindings by a simple rightclick on them,* with no need to invent some complicated new "I'll never grab keys like that" keybindings for each one or binding them all to the same "never to be used" keybinding like ctrl-shift-alt-NUM :-) ps: on average, all my keys have at least double bindings (few only single, some up to five) :-)
Lazy Bastard is pretty tight, just the mandatory crafts to get your first Assembling Machine is 108 items. Leaving you only 3 items to play with. Awesome start.
i think this was the first factorio video i ever watched, and i remember it fondly. wanted to revisit the series as my interest in the game is starting to take hold again. noticed you're also making some ONI videos, which is awesome. i think i'll stick around this time and watch more of your work (and learn about what's changed in factorio even though i haven't played the game myself.)
After some thought, I'm actually kind of interested in trying the Lazy Bastard run. And it's so good that I can disable crafting. I've played the game for a little bit since 1.0 came out, and I kept getting the inventory and crafting panels mixed up, so I would go to grab something from my inventory and accidently craft more instead. :'(
@@Nilaus haha. I do not think it is experiance i love your playstyle because it is so structured and i think thats the reason that you will not get to close. But i also watched nefrums speedruns and the last hours is only green circuits. With a structured base you can gain some time there. But 9 hours is indeed realy fast and he plays the game of fill in the blueprints. So i am curious how you will do. Good luck
Im doing the 114 limit crafts but i did the super careful way. At 104 crafts i only used the starter equipment and ran around the map a ton but worth it. Cleared all biter nests nearby and expanded my factory in a more organized way
Tip: Uranium does not affect achievements at all. You can use nuclear and achieve the Steam all the way achievement. Solar is the only thing off limits.
In old versions you must have one more manual craft - Oil Refinary - because it costs 5 items which could only be crafted with assembly Mk3... and you could craft assembly Mk3 only after you have plastics
This has inspired me to go for this is no spoon (and no time for chitchat since I dont have that one either). Gonna skip trying to do lazy bastard at the same time though, already have it anyways :P
About 2 hours in so far. Have a starter base for red and green science, plus some useful items like assemblers and miners. I also have the smelting setup for the bus with 4 yellow belts each of Iron and copper. Not sure if I'm making the best time, but I think I'm doing okay. Gotta get to Oil and blue science asap.
I look forward to seeing how this goes. Early game is always a bit of a slog, especially lazy bastard runs. But I know it picks up soon. Do you have blueprints you've made earlier or is it all on the fly? I can imagine you've built Vanilla enough that it's nearly memorized anyway
I know this is an older version of the game but when I try to load the map string into 1.1.36 I get an error saying "failed to import map string". Is there a version of the map string for this map that will work with the latest Factorio version or am I importing it wrong?
Great start Nilaus! Just a heads up though, hitting the choose new recipe button in the assembler trashes the materials for the current build if one is in progress. I generally just pull a material out so it stops with the next production.
Talk about a coincidence. I'm actually doing a lazy bastard achievement run myself. I'm past the hand crafting stage, so I've just disabled hand crafting.
@@Griexxt yes, and a single chunk is large: with sides of only 32, its area is 1024 tiles, up to several k of trees when playing with dense forests, and with low settings maybe you need to find 20+ chunks with trees, but no problem in the late game after launching a rocket with no more time pressure unless all the achievements are done as a speedrun.
Cutting it down to the crafting count wire didn't you. I left myself a bit of an oops buffer instead but wasn't aware of the permissions trick. Handy, that
