"STICKY HULKS" LIVE ON KEXP!!! I'm surprised no one has recommended this track to you yet. Four hits on the strings by John Dwyer is a riff that stays in your head for a long time and shows the expressive power of this instrument. The atmosphere and the playing of the three musicians are impressive. In my opinion, this song is the best to start your adventure with this extraordinary band. It is better to postpone their sonic experiments until later. Not the way. It's a bit like getting to know KGLW's music starting from "Murder of the Universe". Probably not the best idea.

Osees is my favorite band, dude for real, they made a point of no return in my life.
Gotta listen their album "Orc". Masterpiece from start to finnish imo.
Oh and I strongly recommend listening "Scutum & Scorpius" they played it live for the first time ever at Red Rocks 2021

you're not crazy...the name/spelling of the band changes. I think they may have started as OCS, then The Oh Sees, then Thee Oh Sees, then Oh Sees, and now it's spelled Osees.

I feel like at some point they’re gonna make entirely electronic music and go by 05335

They're always trying something different for each album. This one's really long-form experimental/jammy. I love it.

For this album, John Dwyer tapped heavily into his krautrock influences. For krautrock music, it is more about getting into a groove and finding nuances that disrupt the pattern. Most krautrock bands were unorthodox with instrumentation and the guitar playing is often improvised and jammy. Check out the band Embryo!

This song kicks ass but is 100x better live.
What they've been doing for a while now is playing The Dream, then The Daily Heavy in one go, and it's a killer combo.
Here's a link to a vid which recorded the time I saw them in Glasgow and they played The Dream/The Daily Heavy:

I'm commenting this as you queried about the squeaky noise at the start of the song, your answer is at 6:40 of that video!!
