A very satisfying hobby. When I was a child my father had a vegetable allotment in what had once been a walled Victorian kitchen garden. I helped him a lot and often dug up old clay pipes but all of them were broken. They still fired my imagination as to the men who had used them. I think they were cheap to buy at the time and were considered disposal. There is a town somewhere in the the Republic of Ireland with a small shop which still makes and sells them mostly to tourists.

You are so lucky to live where you can find so many historical things with the naked eye. Really love those pipes and the history they tell. That bullet you found is from the 1860's or so, we find them all the time in the states from the American Civil War. Thanks for putting out some very neat videos, always enjoy watching and seeing what you pull out next, just like metal detecting without the cost...

I’ll bet that is a good feeling, finding a complete pipe! I know I’ve said it before... but I’ll say it again... I enjoy hearing you speak. Here in California when people speak it’s just bla bla bla. But when you say something, however simple it may be... it sounds beautiful to my ears. I’m a sucker for an English accent, but yours is even better than the usual. Ok... enough gushing from me. 🤷🏻‍♂️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👍

Nicola your teaching is making a mark, when you pulled the J. Kemp pipe, even through the mud I had a picture of the design in my mind, and would have bet under the mud would be stalks of thistles and related to Scotland. After the clean up reveal I saw how close those thoughts were thanks to you helping me to develop an eye, thank you!

Fantastic video! The geocache was a fun find! They are quite fun to go searching for. It's an adventure for certain.
I love that you do your plastic art. It would be fun to get a large bunch of like minded artist/ everyday people, to do a clean up day/ art session. Everyone gets a big black bag to fill. Making an art piece to photograph, then pack it all out . I can see photos being put together to make a calendar to sell. All proceeds going to beach clean up and restoration. Art book perhaps down the line. Coffee table type book explaining the groups mission, how it got started, why it's important to recycle the plastic... I will find you some info on the bullet you found. It's a musket ball.

nicola white mudlark - Tideline Art , in all of your spare time, that should be easy to do ! 😉
Wish I could help! I live near a good size river, each year a group of 50 or so volunteers float down the river and pick up junk. Cans, bottles, plastic, metal. The items are mostly discarded by people using the river. Most bottles and cans you can exchange for 10 cents here. People still dump them. The group has a cook out at the ending point, the collect donated prizes and do drawings. Which helps get volunteers. The biggest point is they pull out so much waste! Flip flops and shoes are counted, other clothing items. Any cans and bottles are returned that can be. The $ goes for the next clean up.
The idea just popped into my head that it would be great to do there. Adding in art would be fun!

I recycle as well. I include my family. We have recycling bins here in our town. You have quite an ability on your pictures. Who would have guessed you could make configuration of a cormorant? An artist's 👁️. I love your pipe display for the pipes you find for comparison. I’m in a warm home but I commend you battling the cold. When I do go out I also brave the weather conditions in an appropriate place. A warm hat, gloves, etc. Good show.

So 3 items of plastic,is not a lot,but much more than not collecting any thing. 😊 ❤ Love your videoes by the way. 😊

Hi Nicola we often hear of plastic pollution and with the help of people like you word will spread of what must be a horror story for the wildlife. We tend to be thoughtful enough to take our own rubbish away when we go but we must learn from your example to take any plastics away irrespective of how it came to be there.Love your casual style and the way you don’t claim to know it all nor talk down to us.I want you to know you both educate and entertain many of us and what you do is much appreciated.👍🏻

I commend you for taking trash and making art of a sort out of it. I am glad that you try to do your best to clean up the environment. Every little bit removed from the water or land is an improvement. Mother Earth thanks you as I do as well. When I lived in Louisiana we were part of a beach cleaning group led by the US Dept of Interior, Minerals Management Service. We did two beach cleanups each year. We had to annotate the number of items that we found and noted if anything had foreign writing on them. We had glass and plastic bottles from as far as Israel and much was marked China, which was not surprising. We also found light bulbs and 3 and 4-foot fluorescent bulbs. Most of the light bulbs were from offshore oil platforms. Over a weekend we often filled several 30-yard roll-off containers. The folks in charge would give us a report summary detailing the overall weight of what was recovered, usually, it would amount to 20 to 30 tons and sometimes more. We also would report all dead sea turtles as the Dept of the Interior tracks sea turtles. We also found dead sharks and one time we were jumping over a 15-foot long tree trunk but it turned out to be a very large and dead shark. It did make us quite happy to do something to clean up the beach but the thought of all the other shoreline that was not being cleaned just makes you wonder what else is out there? I do hope that you will continue making great videos and showing everyone what you are saving for the future. Please also include a tidbit about all the trash that you remove. Please continue to make the world a cleaner place! Congrats on all the finds and for showing everyone the GEO-Cash. ;-)

Hello again Nicola an interesting video again and I always enjoy them whenever they pop up and I look forward to them, That is a great find of early pipes and they speak a lot about early smoking in England over a period of time the smallest one being at a time when tobacco was very expensive so only very small bowls were used as time went by and tobacco became more common and cheaper the bowls grew in size, That intact one was a lucky find indeed and I'd say it's my favourite so far, I see you got your answer about the bullet so i won't bore you and tell you again lol!, Take care happy Mudlarking and hopefully I'll comment again soon.

Thank you Cynthia. Yes, wonderful isn't it. I used to beachcomb in Cornwall where I grew up. You never know what will wash up!
