i have watched this video over and over again and reading all your comments has bought yet another tear to my eye. My dad would be in his element on this adventure that he has been on and i can never thank you enough for doing what you have done for my dad. this is truly above and beyond what i expected anyone to do. so i thank you and i thank each and every one of you for your lovely comments regarding my dads journey xxxx
How fantastic Lorraine you were able to connect to this video. My deepest condolences to you. I lost my Dad in 2014 and I know how very difficult it is. He is on his way now to a new adventure. I hope this adventure continues and we learn more of his travels. Thank you Nicola for taking him on his way to new sights and sounds in the world.
Such a wonderful story, Nicola you are a very lovely lady - this really touched my heart, (I lost my dad at Christmas) happy heavenly travel adventures Lorraine’s dad 😊❤
Hi Lorraine, super excited for all of you, how wonderful... May I ask, where did his journey begin..? ( what port / lands edge. did he set sail from..) This is truly magical... You get to share the journey too. Oh the adventure is so exciting, please do tell, will he be travelling with nicola or is that a surprise/secret trip.. 🙏 Bless your heart, fill it with love and adventures we truly can dream of... Blessings from my heart to yours. Ellie of Britainia ♥️🙏
Always love it when you and Si get together for some “luck in the muck”. Lovely video and some very interesting finds. Can’t wait to see what Lorraine says about you bringing her father’s ashes here to the US. Travel safe.
Anyone dedicated enough to go out when it's that cold deserves great finds! With regards to the pipe stem, I did find reference to a promotional pipe - ‘Harry Clarke the acknowledged champion hatter, 195 Lambeth Walk (near Sir Henry Daulton’s Potteries)’. Might be a start for your enquiries?
I love foggy days like that! One of my favorite family vacation memories was when my mom, sister, and I were in Maine. We went to a state park that was the north-easternmost point of the US on a day much like this one here. We were just about the only ones there, and walking along the beach while barely able to see the seals hanging out on the sandbar just off shore was amazing. They were dark shapes in the distance and their barking just added to the evocative sensations of the day. The water was very still, and the waves were just little pulses on the beach. The lighthouse’s foghorn occasionally went off, adding to the auditory mix.
I Hope Lorraine’s dad is enjoying his journeys, and/or Lorraine is finding some comfort from so many strangers wishing them well. Much love and a warm welcome from the USA 💜
I found this Nic "The British Library has records for ‘Harry Clarke the acknowledged champion hatter, 195 Lambeth Walk (near Sir Henry Daulton’s Potteries)’" Hope it helps 😃
Had me confused thinking it was Sunday! Another great mudlarking adventure, and I think its a great idea to take Lorraine's dad with you to America to continue his travels around the world! What an amazing human you are!
Enjoy your trip to the USA. Lorraine will, I feel sure, be very pleased that her Dad will be given a little help along on his final journey. From the USA, he truly could travel the world. What a beautiful thought. I placed my boat-building, sailing mad late husband’s ashes in the North Sea from here in Scotland, and that thought continues to be a balm to my heart 19 years on…❤️
What a perfectly inspiring video! I just love the idea of you taking Lorraine's father across the pond and giving him 'the trip of a lifetime' hello from Denmark 🌸🌧
This strange piece of metal you saw just before picking up the second vulcanite top looked like Sputnik. The story of Lorraine's Dad warmed my heart. Hope he has lots more adventures.
How lovely that you found the bottle of the gentleman's ashes and that you will contact his daughter. Such a sweet and unexpected story for all of us to witness. I am charmed by it all. ♥️
Really enjoyed the Lovely day in the fog with the river, birds and bells! So many great finds today. May the adventures continue for Lorraine’s dad. It’s so sweet how you handle these messages in bottles. Such a caring heart you have! Enjoy your trip to the US. I hope you do not get caught up in our weather woes! Travel safe, from Richmond Virginia.
My Grandmother who lived in the deep woods of Louisianna used to sew satin and slicky nylon robes, nighties, underthings and then quilts and pillows from the scraps. I loved anything that sparkled and glittered when i was little and she would let me raid her button tins. She had the most beautiful rhinestone buttons and the metal casings looked very much like the ones you found. Brought back sweet memories❤
I've just spent several hours, while ill in bed, re-watching your videos, and realising that during the whole time, I hadn't noticed my pain at all. No painkillers taken, and no "poor me" thoughts! I always find your videos fascinating and I love your enthusiasm, and your ability to see beauty in something that may be broken, but certainly isn't junk. You can also impart that sense of something exciting and full of potential ....... what is its story? Thank you for these, and have a safe and wonderful trip to America........ what a lovely thing to do, to take Lorraine's dad with you. Eagerly awaiting your return, and much love to you. God bless you ❤️
1. So happy Lorraine's dad found another adventurous spirit to travel with. Looking forward to updates. 2. The phone was probably a return intercepted by a package pirate.🏴☠️ 3. Spotted your Canada toque. Nice. 🇨🇦
I loved seeing the London fog and then the bells telling us what time it was. So kind of you to take Loraine's father to the US. I'm sure he is smiling too. Great video, Nicola. I can't wait for the next one. 😍
Some of the scenes in the beginning were so beautiful. Consider printing and framing some…foggy bridge, gaggle geese in the fog…stunning. So happy Lorraine was able to watch this, it was a sign that you found it. ❤️🙏🏻
OK Nicola, I have enjoyed every episode of yours I have watched and I have always tried to hit that like button because I do enjoy them so much. But this one TOPPED THEM ALL!!! I guess it's because it made me think of my Dad. You are a very special person, Nicola, and I want to say thank you for these videos. I believe that Rainbow was there for a reason, and you were definitely meant to find that bottle.
If you are in the US right now, Jan 14th, I hope you are somewhere safe from all this weird weather we are having. Loved the background on the boat. Have fun.
What an atmospheric lark this one was. With the fog rolling in off the Thames and the bells tolling in the distance. Your breath steaming but us knowing that its pretty darned chilly...and who cares, because your larking and enjoying it. I was too. Peering into my phone screen. Whats this, whats that? I love all the things you discover, but i found that Brazil nut, snuff box really interesting. Awe and have a great journey Lorraine's Dad. That was such a touching message in a bottle. May your journey be long and beautiful Sir. Rest in peace. X
Piped it again Nicola - another well preserved, intact pipe! Lovely styled snuff box to boot. Enjoyed the round up session on your friend’s boat and the heart warming read of the message in the bottle. Take care and keep safe on your trip to the States.
What a wonderful story. I am here in Northwest Georgia USA on April 2, 2023 wondering where the journey has taken Lorraine's Dad. Imagining what wonderful adventures he is having, hoping to hear more soon. Peace and Happiness to you Lorraine and to Nicola. I love your videos. I have always wanted to travel to England as that is where my Father's Family originated from, Melksham Wiltshire our Surname is Self.
Amazed how many Cormorants there were there. When I lived in London in the late 60s one was lucky to see one or two. Wild life on the Thames is so much better now.
Beautifully haunting and so very vintage London, I loved it. The message in the bottle touched my heart having only lost my beloved Papa' 16 months ago. A face full of happy tears for him 🙏Teresa 🇦🇺❤
The Thames looked so beautiful in the fog it magically removed all the modern new builds taking us back to a better time 😊 I’m sure I saw a horse shoe close to the intact pipe you extracted maybe it brought you luck
I love how unassuming and guileless you are Nicola…how soft and kind…I wonder that you manage to smile your way through life the way you do. Your a blessing.
Absolutely love how you get to bring Loraine’s dad with you to America!! One final journey for the lad!! and it will be a massive glorious and beautiful one!! You are an incredible human being!! Never stop being positive!
Morning, loved the foggy foreshore. Very magical. The Hatter pipe stem... according to website of Mudlarker Rosie Barker, the pipe is for "Harry Clarke acknowledge champion hatter". Pretty sure there is a very interesting story behind a series of clay pipes made to commemorate him. Have a great week. ❤️
I just wanted to say that I absolutely love your videos, and every time I have a bit of anxiety that's keeping me awake, I put on your videos. The music you choose and the gentle calmness of your voice help relax me!
Maybe you could punch a small hole in the top of the message and attach a small piece of string before you put it back in to help the next person who finds it to get it out of the bottle a little more easily without risking the ashes. I really love watching your videos. It's always exciting and I learn so much. Thank you for sharing your adventures and being so passionate about what you do. - Jodie from Australia 😁
It certainly looks like a spout but it looked like there were ridges at the tip which, if they were there, make me wonder whether it was to be inserted into some sort of flexible fitting.
Once again, I watched it when it aired & didn't comment. I absolutely adored that foggy London town of yore. So magical. Big Ben made it even better. It was like an opening of a murder mystery. I do enjoy your larks when you team up with Si-Finds. You make a great pair. I didn't expect you to find much given the fog. You always come thru Nicola. Cheers to you & London. If only.......
I love your videos, Nicola. One of the reasons why I like them is the tone of your voice and what seems like a precious, clean English… And I love London too…!!
I was just up the river from you both that morning, no boats til later, sludgy mud and some really sereal views of rolling mist and fog swirling around on the river. That is a truly lovely thing to contine Lorraine's late Dad's travels in his memory ❤️
I love all the birds you film. The Cormorants were especially fun to watch. You and Simone are such fun and find the coolest things. That wrapped-up phone will keep me up a night or two trying to figure out why and how it got there. ☺️ While showing the key/winder up close the foggy scene in the background made me think of Sherlock Holmes’ London. Just as I pictured it when I first read the stories almost 60 ago. Lovely what you are doing for Lorraine!
Wow! How sweet. Lorraine’s dad is still having adventures. Love it❤ The first button-like things looked like the tops of Christmas ornaments to me. The snuff box was very cool. Thanks so much.
A lovely view in the fog..a very eclectic mix of finds..your eyes never fail you to find interesting bits..what a sweet tribute to the owner of the ashes! Nice to see you and Si.
Wow , think this is my favourite vlog ever , the beautiful foggy London , my two favourite mud larkers , and that ending was amazing, the message in the bottle, I had a tear in my eye , what a wonderful thing to do , ❤
Great day with Simon and fantastic finds. The message in the bottle was awesome and to be able to take him back to the daughter is great. He is surely getting his traveling in by sea and by plane. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💗
Hello Nicola, I would just like to say what a lovely lady you are. You charm us with your narrative and your exploits. Please do keep up with your videos, which are a escape to a bygone time. Thank you regards Kevin.
Hi Nicola, I mentioned to Si in one of his videos a few weeks ago that the silver hallmarked triangular item you found was a snuff box lol. They were popular at the time because brazil nuts were expensive and a curiosity , it would have been something to show off ,or be a talking point. Quite a lot of snuff boxes were modelled on odd or curious items, I have one in the shape of a horses hoof , a similar shape to some of the pipes you've found.......thanks for another fabulous video, best wishes for 2023 :) x
Luck in the muck with Nicola and Si and on a Sunday here! I was surprised to see the video today. Some nice finds and the day wouldn't be complete without a great pipe find by Nicola! Happy Sunday from Australia!❤️😊
Love & Blessings from Yukon, Canada to you both, Nicola & David. May 2023 bring you good health, contentment & lots more interesting mudlarking finds. Cheers 🍾🥂
Foggy mornings are lovely. I live in western Washington state. It's foggy in the early to mid mornings and in the evening quite often here, regardless of the time of year. We have lovely tall trees and forests all around our small town, some in town as well. I love how the fog hangs around the trees on the mountain sides. Too bad it obscures the beautiful view of Mount Ranier, if we travel down Highway 6. Great finds Nicola. I can't wait to find out more about the message in a bottle. We live quite close to the ocean and I think I might send a message soon.
I love the 'bookends' of your videos, especially this one. The atmosphere set by the music exactly matched what we were seeing on screen. Thankyou for taking the time with that. I hope your trip is going well and that you've managed to see off Lorraine's Dad in style! RIP.
Good evening Nicola. Lorraine's and your story is so real and heartwarming, in this ever more distressing world. I cannot help but remember a quote from Zen an the Art of. . . " an what is right, Phaedrus, an what is not right. Do we really need anyone to tell us these things?" No, nobody needs to tell YOU anything. Some yrs ago, i was doing a dredging job on the Soar, nr Kegworth, to help prevent flooding. We were on the pans ( like Thames lighters, only smaller): one day we were working outside a large mansion, that backed onto the river. It soon became apparent that loads of stuff had been thrown out back windows into the river, the dredger bucket kept coming up with china an that, whenever the driver saw something he would hover the bucket so we could pick it out, got some nice pieces. But i cry to think what we would have missed, small metal items, etc. Ah well! Carry on, Miss, cheering us all up. XX, Mark.
Thanks Nicola. What a wonderful gesture to take the ashes to America with you. I think the little nozzle is from an oil can for oiling a sewing machine. It looks like the one I have that goes with my antique treadle machine that was my grandmother's. Much Love ❤
Okay my friend I’ve yet to meet…have you taken to having senior moments like me and forgotten what day this is ??!! 😂 I just love when you go mudlarking with Si. Your friendship is so special to watch. Some absolutely gorgeous pipes you found Nicola!! Much love from DeeAnn 🇺🇸
Another lovely mudlarking adventure with our endearing Nicola and Si-Finds! Don't remember ever seeing an episode in such foggy conditions, that was like soup! Great finds...thought the Brazilian nut snuff box was modeled from a Portuguese-man-o-war jelly fish! Wonderful tea on the river, must have been delicious! And am so curious about David's art work, where can we find it? Lorraine will be thrilled you're taking her Dad with you. We'll all be waiting to see where he actually continues his journey! Good luck and safe travels here in the States!
Having watched many of your UA-cam videos and Simon's this brought a tear to my eye, that as I have learnt through watching your clips, you both as an example treat finds with the most respect deserved, and never as a selfish find, I hope Lorraine will appreciate your care and respect and her Fathers ashes continue there journey as she so requested, a lovely finish and sentimental ending, and in awe that you cared xx
i cannot describe how much i appreciate this and for the email to come through on the 1st anniversary of my dads passing was quite a shock to see the title of the email saying “your dad” but what a shock that was a mixture of smiles and tears. restored faith in humanity xxxx
Thank you for extending Lorraine's father's journey. And we've been having fog and hoar frost almost daily in Minnesota. Hope you are having a great time in the US.
I just found this on ethe Rosie Barker artist page, The heel in the form of a bowler hat was a promotional pipe. The British Library has records for ‘Harry Clarke the acknowledged champion hatter, 195 Lambeth Walk (near Sir Henry Daulton’s Potteries)’ I hope it helps :)
What a lovely heartwarming video. Thanks so much Nicola. I love it when you join forces with your mudlarking chums (especially Simon, you two are a hoot!) and I'm so happy that Lorraine's dad found you and that you are able to help him on his journey. Hope your cold gets better soon. xxx
A wonderful Christmas production. The foggy atmosphere, and the river scapes would provide great subject matter for a Plein-air artist to paint. Great episode, thank you.
What a lovely video. I love the fog, and it’s how I always imagine London to be. I do believe the dog head belonged to a young child and he was their very best loyal companion and protector. How he ended up in the River Thames, is a very good question, but no matter why, we know he is a very brave and loyal friend. I do so hope you get to feeling better. Love as always.
Always enjoy when you and Si get together! Fun finds again.😊 Happy to see all the finds laid out, especially Si's little Victorian ring find(thanks again Si!😉) Loved seeing you on a Saturday afternoon this week! And, great silver snuff box find....too cool! And forgot how awesome finding those ashes! In the US today, lol, I'm in Pennsylvania....come visit anytime!!🤗Have a blessed trip!
Well hooray for finds, Si-finds, and Nicola ! and happy travels to Lorraine's Dad. What an unusual message in a bottle. Enjoy your trip to the USA - Hope you are staying somewhere warm 😊
There is such mutual respect and genuine affection between the two of you just like a brother and sister. I always enjoy seeing you together and sharing your excitement.
i have watched this video over and over again and reading all your comments has bought yet another tear to my eye. My dad would be in his element on this adventure that he has been on and i can never thank you enough for doing what you have done for my dad. this is truly above and beyond what i expected anyone to do. so i thank you and i thank each and every one of you for your lovely comments regarding my dads journey xxxx

I hope this adventure continues and we learn more of his travels. Thank you Nicola for taking him on his way to new sights and sounds in the world.
Lorraine I'm so glad Nicola found him! Of all people, she would understand and appreciate your gesture to your dad.
( what port / lands edge. did he set sail from..)
This is truly magical... You get to share the journey too. Oh the adventure is so exciting, please do tell, will he be travelling with nicola or is that a surprise/secret trip.. 🙏
Bless your heart, fill it with love and adventures we truly can dream of...
Blessings from my heart to yours.

Happy travels to your Dad, what an adventure to head off with Nic!
Awww . . . Lorraine’s Dad found the right person to continue his journey in this realm. I loved that you were so respectful.
absolutely amazed and so grateful. how lucky was my dad and of course me for this amazing thing she has done for my dad xx
Always love it when you and Si get together for some “luck in the muck”. Lovely video and some very interesting finds. Can’t wait to see what Lorraine says about you bringing her father’s ashes here to the US. Travel safe.
Venturing into the freezing cold, sick, with your windswept, lopsided glasses. That's dedication.
I love the care you give the offerings and the messages in bottles, it makes my heart happy.
Brilliant!

to Loraine's Dad: have a great journey, courtesy of such thoughtful and kind women!
I Hope Lorraine’s dad is enjoying his journeys, and/or Lorraine is finding some comfort from so many strangers wishing them well. Much love and a warm welcome from the USA 💜

The broken pipe stem refers to Harry Clarke. 'The acknowledged champion hatter' of 195 Lambeth Walk (near to Henry Daultons pottery) circa. 1890.

That funnel looking item looks like the spout of an old oil can. The kind you push on the bottom to create suction for the liquid.
Thats what i thought
It certainly looks like a spout but it looked like there were ridges at the tip which, if they were there, make me wonder whether it was to be inserted into some sort of flexible fitting.
Possibly for sewing machine oil. I have a similar one.

Beautiful with the fog, and the Cormorants gathered together.
Oh…those introductory scenes were absolutely gorgeous! So atmospheric! Love it!
LORD I LOVE YOUR OPENERS --Hello Nicola
Thank you Peter!
You were the perfect person to find the message in a bottle. Lorraine must have been so pleased. Cheers from Canada.

Luck in the muck with Nicola and Si and on a Sunday here! I was surprised to see the video today. Some nice finds and the day wouldn't be complete without a great pipe find by Nicola! Happy Sunday from Australia!❤️😊
Loved seeing London in the fog, gives it an authentic look and nice to hear big Ben. Good pipes, and nice to give the dogs a home
Everett here. Yes, we live in a beautiful place.
What an absolute treat Nicola. A foggy day in London Town! X
Great video Nic! Loving the ‘fails’ they made me laugh. Great shots of the river as well! 👍🏻🐾🧡
It was so beautiful down there that day.
Thanks for the lovely video with Si, it was beautiful in the fog. Wonderful finds and very sweet of you to continue Lorraine's dad's travel.
That scene in the beginning with the bridge is worth printing.beautiful
I love the 'bookends' of your videos, especially this one. The atmosphere set by the music exactly matched what we were seeing on screen. Thankyou for taking the time with that. I hope your trip is going well and that you've managed to see off Lorraine's Dad in style! RIP.
Hello Nicola
Love the toque. Oh Canada.
Take care Chris and Sandra of Canada.
David has an interning companion there in his tugboat! Glad to see you’re taking dad on another adventure! Much love to Lorraine.
XX, Mark.
Thank you Miriam! xx
Hi DeeAnn yes I got my days mixed up!
The bottle ending is precious
What a programme, I could watch all day. I find it so interesting and you are such a lovely person❤😊

Having watched many of your UA-cam videos and Simon's this brought a tear to my eye, that as I have learnt through watching your clips, you both as an example treat finds with the most respect deserved, and never as a selfish find, I hope Lorraine will appreciate your care and respect and her Fathers ashes continue there journey as she so requested, a lovely finish and sentimental ending, and in awe that you cared xx
i cannot describe how much i appreciate this and for the email to come through on the 1st anniversary of my dads passing was quite a shock to see the title of the email saying “your dad” but what a shock that was a mixture of smiles and tears. restored faith in humanity xxxx
what a lovely relaxing foggy video with some sweet finds. Bon Voyage to Lorraine father 💙🤍💙🤍🌊 Happy 2023
Great to see the both of you collaborating on a mudlark adventure. That fog made me think of a Sherlock Holmes story.
Your comment about 1:05 made me think of the beautiful work of John Atkinson Grimshaw. So lovely.
The two of together are such fun to watch. Always glad when I receive my notification. Good luck in the muck. Hi Si!👋🏼
Your a beautiful person to keep Lorraines dad travelling. Take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️
What a lovely heartwarming video. Thanks so much Nicola. I love it when you join forces with your mudlarking chums (especially Simon, you two are a hoot!) and I'm so happy that Lorraine's dad found you and that you are able to help him on his journey. Hope your cold gets better soon. xxx
Always enjoy watching you and Simon together🥰🇺🇸
Thank you Nicola ❤
It is so good of you to take Lorraine’s dads ashes further on his travels ❤
A wonderful Christmas production. The foggy atmosphere, and the river scapes would provide great subject matter for a Plein-air artist to paint. Great episode, thank you.
You are such a kind and thoughtful woman Nicola ❤️
Gorgeous intro! So well done! Love your Canada hat!
Thank you!
What some lovely finds well done Nicola xx
This made me happy. Her(Lorraine's) dad got a plane ride and many miles to travel! Thank you so much. ☺️☺️👍👍
Im very happy for him too!
A foggy day with studly Si Finds makes a great video.
Well hooray for finds, Si-finds, and Nicola ! and happy travels to Lorraine's Dad. What an unusual message in a bottle. Enjoy your trip to the USA - Hope you are staying somewhere warm 😊
Great Sunday morning watch in bed with a cup of tea ☕😘 love the shots of the wild life
There is such mutual respect and genuine affection between the two of you just like a brother and sister. I always enjoy seeing you together and sharing your excitement.
