Not all the diagnoses require such a high speed scanning.
Motionless organs such as a brain or a liver does not reqiure it.
Scanning of moving organs such as heart requires it to get images without blurr.
It's like a shutter speed of a camera.

washing machines are around 1000 to 1600rpm depending on the model and brand, this is less than 400rpm, so it would be slower

It would be slower indeed. G forces scale with radius and RPM², so going down a factor of 4 on RPM would require going up from a 60cm washing machine drum to a 9.6m diameter MRI machine to compensate. They're big, but not that big. Stick with your washing machine.
