In the Halo 2 terminals when the heretic leader said "The arbiter would never join our cause" is that why he started shooting him instead of trying to have him listen to Guilty Spark?
I think it probably was because the station was falling into the gas giant and it wasn't possible to explain things, he literally spends the entire mission delaying the fight with you which strikes me as deliberate and not him being a coward given the lore behind elites and their values, if he honestly believed the conflict was inevitable I think he would have just faced him Jedi style and that would have been the end of it. They clearly recede to their Alien Samurai Clan ways after the great schism.
He did try to have him listen to 343GS during the fight also, he tries to convince the Arbiter that the Forerunners died and did not transcend. He only says this if you play on Legendary. Clearly the Arbiter was listening to him and not pointing his weapon at him before the Leader shot him. But they didn't have time to dialogue too much because of the falling station, but even then he tried to reason with the Arbiter during the fight. He clearly did not want to kill the Arbiter, but he also wouldn't allow himself to die without giving a fight so he could probably escape. He may have also considered that reinforcements could be sent at the Arbiter's location In the end whichever of them survived the message would carry on.
Zealotry tends to make the greatest of individuals blind to the dogmas they have set for themselves. He may have listened for a minute before Spark's words went against the doctrines that he has followed all his life. Yes, it would set the seeds of doubt within his mind with what Spark has told him, but not before he killed the leader and had Spark captured. Either way, the end is still the same.

Chakas didn't exist in lore until post MCC anyway, and rampancy isn't interchangeable with logic plague, they are very different things. Rampancy is the result of not being able to process the sum of all the data accumulated over an AIs life span (7 years give or take) Logic plague is the Gravemind forcing a nonbiological entity to do it's bidding by gradually removing all other options and forcing said being to believe that the flood is the Apex of biology and should unite and conform all biomass available for the sake of preserving the memories and accomplishments of all races consumed. BTW I FULLY believe the flood is behind the return of Cortana, and I could see a copy of Spark coming back too.

Imagine if humanity (before the halo array was fired) told the forerunners about the flood instead of going on a purge frenzy. they knew of each other beforehand, and they may have been enemies but sending the forerunners data on the flood would’ve probably gotten them to help. Instead of not telling anyone and burning their worlds, screwing them both over against the monument to all their sins
honestly i found it annoying and it took up an hour of the video for some stupid pedestrian hide and seek graphic novel. feels like theres more said in the 15 minute terminals then the entire sadie "storyline"
I knew the terminals between CEA and 4 referenced the events of the Forerunner books but I never actually realized how many times they were quoted word for word in 4
I wasn't going to watch 2 hours of terminal videos however once I got to the part about the Sangheili and San Shyuum history, I became hooked. The story telling there becomes powerful.
Tytan Gaming yes, of course lol. Engineers try to be efficient. Projectile weapons are simple and effective, and their ammunition can be manufactured en masse extremely cheaply. There is no point in “upgrading” if it doesn’t serve a real purpose.
Also that Bone Stellar was the one that fired the Halo rings and doesn’t harbor hate towards humans. Seeing as he made the similarity between forruners and the humans before forunners do their weird mutation thing
343 guilty spark is actually a human he's memory's were locked away. But after the master chief blew him up he reformed himself then remembered all his memory's. He then hijacked a UNSC ship then went to look for a forerunner witch he thinks is still alive.

@@water4204 Yeah but really the Forerunners plans for humanity failed almost instantly. A fragment of mendicant bias landed a key ship on what he thought was Earth it wasn't. That kick started the religious cult and assured they had a HUGE technological advantage. We know that the civil war for humanity was planned somehow. I think the human civil war was meant to be the first real test. To see if humanity could stay as one and not split into factions. And any Forerunner instantiation with a AI should of killed anything that wasn't human to begin with. We know at least how powerful the Ark's defenses truly are.
It is the gravemind. The ship that housed that AI was forerunner in construct. It's likely the gravemind/primordial that absorbed 032 Mendicant Bias. If I'm not mistaken the gravemind speaks in iambic pentameter, which the AIs speech matches

The writers behind the halo universe have done such an excellent job at creating a true cosmic terror with the Flood. Both the ancient humans and the forunners relies solely on annihilation to destroy it, and 343 Guilty Spark claiming that if even one spore escaped it would result in a failure of the forunners... Also, Vadamee is truly terrifying as well. The guy conquered 7 human planets, and wiped out 1 billion people with ease.
What a cool dynamic with the librarian and her husband. He destroys all life and she maintains and ensures it’s safety. Even in ensuring he can not destroy anymore life she did so by preserving life.
The covenant ai seems like it knows exactly what will happen once the halo fires. Hierarchics likely used forerunner ai but sealed it so much similar to the engineers to work for them.

So let me get this straight. The war between the Forerunners, the creation of the rings, the deevolution of humans, and the firing of the rings happened partly because the Lord of Admirals... refused to make a fucking phone call!?
It's because the humans and forerunners were not on speaking terms. I've seen this complaint a lot. But a little forethought tells you why the humans didnt beseech the forerunners. The forerunners had, in the scope of their time reference, just got done almost wiping out the precursors over jealousy. Why would the humans entreat with a group that just violently killed their creators and friends. Plus humans had no time for anything. The rate at which the plague spread made it so the humans could only move and glass. As they were doing. They were trying to scorch earth as many planets as possible to deny the flood any food. Even if they wanted too they probably didnt have any time to actually talk to any one as they had to glass the planet they had just reached then move on until the flood starved.

But in the face of Flood infestation they should have seen the need for cooperation. One hour of conversation could have seen a defeat of the flood without the Halos and would have saved millions of lives (human and forerunner) from unnecessary war.

Sry I havent really gotten into Halo before and now seeing Holo Infinite will be on PC I wanted to watch lots of gameplay and get into the story, anyway I came here cause I heard terminals were like colectables in game that dished out lore to people who found them in the form of small clips.
Close but you're wrong. Those nicknames are the joke names of the other installation monitors, 7 broken ipod would be ring 2, 49 fuck light bulb would be ring 3, and so on, if I remember right
The idea that some part of the Flood could be beyond the rings AOE isn't completely without merit (As the forerunners didn't see where they originally came from as far as I can tell) . Clearly though they should have programmed the monitors to destroy all the samples once their experiments to try and find a "cure" were concluded. (Whether successful or not)
TheDjbz old post but whatever The Forerunners did not know where the Flood came from although they had suspected it was created by the Primordials (which is correct). Like Spark pointed out and was right about, there is likely Flood floating around in the Galaxy somewhere so not researching them based on the fear of them escaping is dumb once you consider that. I also think that Spark should’ve continued research as he was assigned with 5 directives in mind: 1)Activate ring in case of outbreak 2)Facilitate the ring 3)Guard the ring 4)Research the flood for a cure 5)Assist any reclaimers I say “assigned” and not “programmed” because it he was programmed he wouldn’t have improvised and instead kept to a strict regimen. Spark should’ve continued the research on his own instead of letting them sit around in containment. The librarian probably intended Spark to continue research but he just didn’t.

Do the terminals in Halo 3 (from the Master Chief Collection) tell the same story as the terminals from the original Halo 3 or have they been edited, to patch the story together better? Because I can’t fathom the Didact and the Libarian communiticating with one another back on the original release. I feel like there was something else in its place
If non hostile. For example a tired grunt or a wounded elite unable to fight. That has stumbled away from the battle. Most certainly. If hostile then he’d be dead before he could offer.
Not gonna lie, these sure are worth the find during our game runs on the Master Chief Collection. Bonus if you read a lot on the Expanded Universe lore, particularly The Forerunner Saga when it comes to CEA, 2A, 3, and 4.

Go either right or left and jump over the low barriers until you get to the opposite side. The terminal flashes yellow, and can be clearly seen across the chasm.
18:33 - "Two Betrayals", in the Control Room at the level's very beginning; just walk around the circular platform and the terminal can be found directly across from the central console.
20:41 - "Keyes", found after the player finds Captain Jacob Keyes absorbed into the Proto-Gravemind. Eliminate nearby Covenant and Flood forces, then search the sunken crevices to the side of the raised platform. The terminal is a red holographic panel, and will be on one of the right crevice's walls.
24:00: "The Maw", found in the cryo Bay's second floor, where Sentinels are fighting a large Flood force. The terminal is a computer screen on the wall, similar to the first terminal.
There's also an eleventh terminal, but it's actually not in the game proper, but rather on the Halo Waypoint Classified section, which is now defunct.

Imagine if humanity (before the halo array was fired) told the forerunners about the flood instead of going on a purge frenzy.
they knew of each other beforehand, and they may have been enemies but sending the forerunners data on the flood would’ve probably gotten them to help. Instead of not telling anyone and burning their worlds, screwing them both over against the monument to all their sins

I knew the terminals between CEA and 4 referenced the events of the Forerunner books but I never actually realized how many times they were quoted word for word in 4
I wasn't going to watch 2 hours of terminal videos however once I got to the part about the Sangheili and San Shyuum history, I became hooked. The story telling there becomes powerful.

343 guilty spark is actually a human he's memory's were locked away. But after the master chief blew him up he reformed himself then remembered all his memory's. He then hijacked a UNSC ship then went to look for a forerunner witch he thinks is still alive.

@@water4204 Yeah but really the Forerunners plans for humanity failed almost instantly. A fragment of mendicant bias landed a key ship on what he thought was Earth it wasn't. That kick started the religious cult and assured they had a HUGE technological advantage. We know that the civil war for humanity was planned somehow.
I think the human civil war was meant to be the first real test. To see if humanity could stay as one and not split into factions. And any Forerunner instantiation with a AI should of killed anything that wasn't human to begin with. We know at least how powerful the Ark's defenses truly are.

It is the gravemind. The ship that housed that AI was forerunner in construct. It's likely the gravemind/primordial that absorbed 032 Mendicant Bias. If I'm not mistaken the gravemind speaks in iambic pentameter, which the AIs speech matches

The writers behind the halo universe have done such an excellent job at creating a true cosmic terror with the Flood. Both the ancient humans and the forunners relies solely on annihilation to destroy it, and 343 Guilty Spark claiming that if even one spore escaped it would result in a failure of the forunners...
Also, Vadamee is truly terrifying as well. The guy conquered 7 human planets, and wiped out 1 billion people with ease.
Aaaaand was also the youngest elite to be promoted to supreme commander, which is not so easily obtained.

So let me get this straight. The war between the Forerunners, the creation of the rings, the deevolution of humans, and the firing of the rings happened partly because the Lord of Admirals... refused to make a fucking phone call!?
It's because the humans and forerunners were not on speaking terms. I've seen this complaint a lot. But a little forethought tells you why the humans didnt beseech the forerunners. The forerunners had, in the scope of their time reference, just got done almost wiping out the precursors over jealousy. Why would the humans entreat with a group that just violently killed their creators and friends. Plus humans had no time for anything. The rate at which the plague spread made it so the humans could only move and glass. As they were doing. They were trying to scorch earth as many planets as possible to deny the flood any food. Even if they wanted too they probably didnt have any time to actually talk to any one as they had to glass the planet they had just reached then move on until the flood starved.

But in the face of Flood infestation they should have seen the need for cooperation.
One hour of conversation could have seen a defeat of the flood without the Halos and would have saved millions of lives (human and forerunner) from unnecessary war.

The humans were powerful enough to scorch multiple systems at a time. I understand what your saying. But honestly when it comes to the flood. Only quick desicive action can stop them. And this also begets the question, would the forerunners of even believed them? I personally believe, they wouldnt have. I've read the three forerunner books. And their hubris is astounding.

The idea that some part of the Flood could be beyond the rings AOE isn't completely without merit (As the forerunners didn't see where they originally came from as far as I can tell) . Clearly though they should have programmed the monitors to destroy all the samples once their experiments to try and find a "cure" were concluded. (Whether successful or not)

The Forerunners did not know where the Flood came from although they had suspected it was created by the Primordials (which is correct). Like Spark pointed out and was right about, there is likely Flood floating around in the Galaxy somewhere so not researching them based on the fear of them escaping is dumb once you consider that. I also think that Spark should’ve continued research as he was assigned with 5 directives in mind:
1)Activate ring in case of outbreak
2)Facilitate the ring
3)Guard the ring
4)Research the flood for a cure
5)Assist any reclaimers
I say “assigned” and not “programmed” because it he was programmed he wouldn’t have improvised and instead kept to a strict regimen. Spark should’ve continued the research on his own instead of letting them sit around in containment. The librarian probably intended Spark to continue research but he just didn’t.

Do the terminals in Halo 3 (from the Master Chief Collection) tell the same story as the terminals from the original Halo 3 or have they been edited, to patch the story together better? Because I can’t fathom the Didact and the Libarian communiticating with one another back on the original release. I feel like there was something else in its place

After just listening to the ODST one (i remember hearing 90% of it, but not know if it was finished or not) i have to say i think it was utterly pointless. and pretty unbelievable with the Commissionaire.... like really? People are going to shut down the city in a time of crisis because he says so? and cops are going to kill innocent civilians for no reason just becuase of his command?.... and then while it is kind of a cool personal story, it really has no impact on anything. idk.
