Saw Corvette Summer at the drive in, one of those all nighter dusk-til-dawn movie marathons that my aunt Rita would take me to when I stayed at her place on the occasional weekend. It was mid October, near the end of drive-in season so they crammed as many movies into those last couple weekends as possible. Corvette Summer, The Boys Of Company C, Jaws 2 and Dawn Of The Dead, I was 8, fell asleep 10 minutes into Jaws 2, woke up just before Dawn Of The Dead which is still my all time favourite movie. I also wanted Luke Skywalker's Corvette, it was badass. I liked The Boys Of Company C too, had that same Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket.
Brilliant as ever MFP. More films that have been lost and forgotten but now thanks to your hard work brought into focus. Extra fact with regard to 'Shaker Run', it co-starred '70's singer Leif Garrett.

Loved this, thanks. It was too fast for me, so I set the playback speed to .75 Much better. I have seen some of these, and was a crazy car nut in the early 70s; lots of stories!
I got one that I saw in the theater as a double feature with "Eat My Dust": Called "Checkered Flag or Crash", it started Joe Don Baker as a Mickey Thompson-esque off road racer competing in something similar to the Baja 1000 in a Jeep or Bronco type vehicle. I have never seen it shown, or even mentioned, since that day. Circa 1976 or 77. I was about 11.
I vaguely remember that one, it was more of a single seat dune buggy he was racing. I believe Susan Sarandon and Larry Hagman were in it too, if used to turn up on cable long ago

Ok, the Barracuda in Corky is in fact a 1968 Barracuda Fastback. The 1967 was only available in a coupe. The 1969 was identical, except it was available with a larger powerplant and one major difference, the side marker lights on the 1968 were round, they were square on the 1969. People often mistakenly check the date on cars by looking at the identification plaque inside the door panel. This shows the year it was manufactured, not the model year, since cars have to be ready to be sold by the first day of the new year, they begin manufacturing them six months prior. So in order for a 1968 model to be ready to be sold in 1968, it must first be built, which for some cars could have taken up to six months to do. This is my 1968 Barracuda Fastback that my grandfather ordered directly from the manufacturer.
I have seen a couple of these movies and 7 of them can be found on UA-cam to watch for free. The ones that can not be found are Corky, Moonrunners, and Goodbye Pork Pie.

That Barracuda in the #10 video might have been anything from '67 to '69. It was too customized to tell. But one thing is certain is that it wasn't a 383 or a 440, it was a small block. It could have been a 273, 318 or 340.
Thank you for your comment as you and another viewer had pointed out this error. A correction has been made and it is much appreciated as sometimes situations like this happen and MFP is dedicated to present the most accurate information as possible.

at 1:16 it say as seen in the film with the 383 engine. The picture clearly shows the distributor at the rear of the engine. Making it a LA mall block, proabably a 318 .
In the introduction of this video there's a brief clip of a black sedan, maybe a Holden EK crashing into the burning overturned wreckage of a red car. What film is that clip from?
It's watch out we're mad. The scene is the moment the Dune Buggy is hit by a random European car. It might be a GM, though not 100% sure at this moment.
Number 9 The last chase, the art department totally screwed up with the artwork advertising at 2:08 what looks like a Mirage IIIV and 3:37 instead of a F86 Sabre they used a F4 Phantom. Almost as bad as the motorcycle John Conner rode in Terminator 2 with a 2 stroke sound instead of the actual 4 stroke Honda XR100 and sporting about 200 gears instead of the actual 5 gears.
If you do a third series you might try to find the Taxi series out of France. Some amazing stunts. Don't confuse them for a movie of the same name in the US which was abysmal.
Cheers. It has popped up on the channel and you can find it listed on Top 10 WTF moments in car chase movies list. I was planning in doing a breakdown video about the film, but most of the behind the scenes info available is in french, so it proved difficult at this time.
Never heard or seen the Lee Majors or Cliff Robertson movies. The Moonrunners movie I’ve seen on tv and cable dozens of times. I remember going and seeing Corvett Summer in the theaters and being very disappointed as a kid into cars. That corvette looked as if it crashed into a 70’s shag wagon boogie van and the car was a result of the twisted wreckage left in the junkyard. Only cool thing about the car was the right hand steer, the rest of the custom fiberglass and those atrocious headers coming out to the side pipes was pure puke 🤢🤮

To be quite honest I am not a fan of how the estate of that film has gone after several youtubers for building tribute cars and confiscating their vehicles with little to no legal president. Little know fact about speed zone and the dukes of Hazzard John Schneider played in the movie as himself and that was his Lambo though it was a Pontiac fiero that skipped across the water cuz countach cars don't have a flat underside like most lambos do today
A couple of interesting points... I remember seeing the Last Chase as a kid on HBO, and being somewhat facinated with it. I later thought it was funny they were fleeing to California as the last bastion of freedom, seeing as how California in our reality is very much anti-freedom. And in Corvette Summer, the last chase was against a Trans Am. Since the company that "stole" the Corvette was a custom car shop, the Trans Am was modified with a Formula hood. It has all the other call outs of being a Trans Am though, shaker hood scoop (along with the front facing formula scoops), fender extraction vents, and wheel well spats. Yes, it could be a modified Formula with Trans Am parts too, but more likely to use the car with all that already on it as a baseline.
Anyone able to help? I remember a film either from the late 1980s or early to mid-1990s, featuring a bizzarre range of cars and characters. Of the cars I rememver, it featured a pink Citroen Mehari driven by an older hippy-ish couple. The car itself seemed to be sentient too, since I remember it making hiccup noises. A middle class family was in a Volvo 740 Turbo estate/station wagon. At one point it ends up totalled by another car, and the accountant-in-a-suit-and-glasses style dad/driver of the family Volvo said in an upset tone "Awww my beautiful Volvo! 😥" A muscle car of some sort was in it driven by a "Fonz" type guy with the rest of the passengers being women. Pretty sure a Countach was in it too. It was a comedy and I'm pretty sure the plot involved "whoever is first wins big money", a la Cannonball. Anyone know the name of it from these few details!? 🤣

would "Runaway Car" (1997) classify ??? the whole movie is about a car who lost brakes and must navigate hazzards until the fuel tank finally runs out and they can stop
First time viewer of MFP - Map Film Productions. Good content ( I actually own all but 3 of the films listed) in a 153 DVD 'where cars were the stars' collection. Probably the last time viewing your content, as the narration is spoken too fast ... (even closed captioning can't keep up) ... slow down and make a 22 minute film. It isn't a race.

Unless I am misraken, you will find it attached on the end of this video. Or you can look on the channel under "popular" as it has over 1 million views. Enjoy.
I saw Moorunners on TV when I was a kid. I was very confused because I could tell that the Characters were like the Dukes & it had the Narrator but the movie was dingy & violent compared to the goofy show that I loved.
one of those rare times where the TV show was alot better than the movie that inspired it
Haha Street and Strip magazine.

How about Vanishing point?
It's not Forgotten. In fact, you will find a 20 minute documentary specifically about the film and the car on this channel, celebrating its 50th year anniversary. Enjoy.
@@MFPMapFilmProductions will do!!!👍😎
would "Runaway Car" (1997) classify ??? the whole movie is about a car who lost brakes and must navigate hazzards until the fuel tank finally runs out and they can stop
The Last Race....sounds like what is happening right now. Sorta.
Imaging going to California to flee tyranny 😅😂😂😂
First time viewer of MFP - Map Film Productions. Good content ( I actually own all but 3 of the films listed) in a 153 DVD 'where cars were the stars' collection. Probably the last time viewing your content, as the narration is spoken too fast ... (even closed captioning can't keep up) ... slow down and make a 22 minute film. It isn't a race.
The one with Leif Garrett
Shaker run is mono sound film
I was hopeful you you show" firebird 2015 " another government cancels gas powered cars .
There is always room for another top 10 list.
👍👍👍.
