Return to Macon County is another pretty good forgotten car film.
Agreed! I'd love to have a copy of it for home.
Yes!!
Brilliant as ever MFP.
More films that have been lost and forgotten but now thanks to your hard work brought into focus.
Extra fact with regard to 'Shaker Run', it co-starred '70's singer Leif Garrett.
Cheers.
Saw Corvette Summer at the drive in, one of those all nighter dusk-til-dawn movie marathons that my aunt Rita would take me to when I stayed at her place on the occasional weekend. It was mid October, near the end of drive-in season so they crammed as many movies into those last couple weekends as possible. Corvette Summer, The Boys Of Company C, Jaws 2 and Dawn Of The Dead, I was 8, fell asleep 10 minutes into Jaws 2, woke up just before Dawn Of The Dead which is still my all time favourite movie. I also wanted Luke Skywalker's Corvette, it was badass. I liked The Boys Of Company C too, had that same Drill Sergeant from Full Metal Jacket.
If you're gonna make a part 3, i suggest you add Jade from 1995, directed by the famous William Friedkin. The chase is intense and absolutely underrated.
I don’t remember that part of the movie but I sure do remember another scene 😂
I remember that chase scene black Ford Thunderbird tinted out. Ford Taurus
I started watching this and said to my wife "I bet Goodbye Pork Pie is in this". I've only seen it the once about 35 years ago but remember it well as I had a mini at the time.
Terror Sqaud (1988) has a 20 min car chase with all troops possible
I'm looking to do a one off car chases list. Not all car chases exist in just car chase movies, so this might be a fit for there.
Excellent video, brought back some memories!
How about a video featuring those 70's Moonshine Movies you mentioned? Thanks ;)
Cheers. It's not a bad idea. There are more to be mentioned in future forgotten car chase movies.
@@MFPMapFilmProductions I look forward to seeing more of your work, great research and fantastic clips from hard to find films. And of course cool cars!!
I have seen a couple of these movies and 7 of them can be found on UA-cam to watch for free.
The ones that can not be found are Corky, Moonrunners, and Goodbye Pork Pie.

What no "Death Race 2000".... oh well.
You will find it on the 10 WTF Vehicle moments on screen video on the channel.
RACE,NOT CHASE,just sayin.
The capri in shaker sounded like a weapon thru those hills
Good doc, remember Goodbye Pork Pie and went to see Shaker Run in the 80s both good enjoyable films hope to watch some of the others mentioned,(Stingray,Grand theft Auto, etc) thanks for the post Auckland New Zealand 2023
I saw Moorunners on TV when I was a kid. I was very confused because I could tell that the Characters were like the Dukes & it had the Narrator but the movie was dingy & violent compared to the goofy show that I loved.
one of those rare times where the TV show was alot better than the movie that inspired it
What the hell is a Hydromatic V8?
well apart From learning about mark Hamill and the very cute Potts they are all Forgettable. Better Fun watching Bathurst 1000 in car racing
The Last Chase is underrated SCIFI film. California as a bastion of freedom is nowadays laughable.
The fact that their is no "Catch Me If You Can (1989)" is just wrong lol
@@TJ-W Its a joke dude, Plus I mentioning it so they can maybe look at it if they haven't and maybe put it in lol
Never heard or seen the Lee Majors or Cliff Robertson movies. The Moonrunners movie I’ve seen on tv and cable dozens of times. I remember going and seeing Corvett Summer in the theaters and being very disappointed as a kid into cars. That corvette looked as if it crashed into a 70’s shag wagon boogie van and the car was a result of the twisted wreckage left in the junkyard. Only cool thing about the car was the right hand steer, the rest of the custom fiberglass and those atrocious headers coming out to the side pipes was pure puke 🤢🤮
Why have I never heard of Shaker Run?!
I remember 'Watch Out We're Mad'. That was a drive-in theatre regular.
I just put up a list of 7 of the movies that you can find on UA-cam.

Rip to every car in grand theft auto😞
I own Corvette Summer on DVD and watch it at least once a year! Great fun from a throwback movie!
Great vid MFP! Watch Out We’re Mad and The Italian Job are still one of my favourite car chase movies. Both movies used Remy Julienne Stunt Team. 😉
I try to get my car buddy's to love and like Corvette Summer the way I do ..They say it's corney and cheap..I'll watch it any time❤ ..side note the original name for that movie was "stingray" But as you know it was taken.
The main character from Goodbye Pork Pie looks like Johnny the Boy from Mad Max!
The Chase (1994) Charlie Sheen on the run in a red BMW E36 Coupe with hottie Kristy Swanson as hostage
I regret not buying Corky's Barracuda back when I worked Bob Butts Fantasy Cars back in 1977. But $2500 seemed a bit expensive! lol I never thought it would be valuable, I planned to restore it!
I'm surprised you mentioned "Speed Zone" aka "Cannonball Fever". It's a guilty pleasure for me. One of my favorite 80s comedies.
By the way; have you ever mention 1982's "Safari 3000" starring David Carradine and Stockard Channing?
You overlooked another great car chase movie, "Cannonball!" which starred David Carradine of Kung Fu fame, Veronica Hamel of Hill Street Blues, and was directed by the late Paul Bartel.
No I didn't. You will find it listed in my top 10 forgotten car chase movies part 1 video you can find on the channel.
Shaker Run was brilliant, a great Kiwi movie, and Goodbye Pork Pie was great too
Before Claude, CJ, Tommy, Nico, Franklin, Trevor, Michael, & Lucia, we had Ritchie Cunningham as the original GTA protagonist
The movie the chase (1994) is a forgotten one, with the red BMW chase.
Your channel rocks dude! I just love it!!!
Cheers mate. Much appreciated.
The Last Race....sounds like what is happening right now. Sorta.
Loved this, thanks. It was too fast for me, so I set the playback speed to .75
Much better. I have seen some of these, and was a crazy car nut in the early 70s; lots of stories!
"White lightening" with Burt Reynolds doesn't get enough recognition.
You will find it listed on the top 10 forgotten car chase movies part 1 video on this channel. Also mentioned in our Smokey and the Bandit breakdown video as well. Enjoy.
Ron Howrd's GTA was a romp. It kind of reminded me of American Graffiti when I first saw it.
Not even close. American Graffiti is a cult classic.
@@galeaiken3841 Absolutely. The chained up axle scene was pure gold.
@@BradGryphonn "Stand by for justice " lol American Graffiti is my favorite movie of all time. The cars the sound track are amazing. I met Candy Clark (Debbie) In late 90s at car show took a picture with my Grand National for me. And came back and ate lunch with our club
Very nice and still gorgeous.
@@galeaiken3841 That's way cool! Awesome memory to hold.
Wow! The Last Chase! I haven't thought about that in 40 years. I remember watching it as a kid, I thought it was badass.
I know Cannonball Fever as Speed Zone
Corvette summer corvette is forgotten simply because it's buttass ugly
Speaking a little more slowly would make it easier to watch. 🥴
I am sad to say I seen " The Last Chase" " Speed Zone " and " Corvette Summer " in the theater. I'm Old. Lol
Imaging going to California to flee tyranny 😅😂😂😂
Dude........ You aint forgetting the original "Gone in 60 seconds" are you? That would be ace #1 of forgotten chase flicks dont you think?
More or less. I don't see it as forgotten as some on this list and the first list. To be quite honest I am not a fan of how the estate of that film has gone after several youtubers for building tribute cars and confiscating their vehicles with little to no legal president. Good film, not a fan of the producers.
I was hopeful you you show" firebird 2015 " another government cancels gas powered cars .
There is always room for another top 10 list.
Speed zone had John shinder bo duke in the Lamborghini
Was wondering if the last chase is on Blu ray or dvd
You know I like this though it's funny I stumbled upon The Last Chase, Grand Theft Auto a few months back (and Eat My Dust! From your last video). These are all nice chases honestly
quality production
Haha Street and Strip magazine.
the voice is awful... he seeem to be in high speed chase !!
I seen Eat My Dust! And GTA at the drive in! And Corvette summer! Dig all three of these movies!!
never saw any of those except the Corvette Summer flick which at the time hated - bet i would love it upon revisit
It's a fun film to watch on a lazy Sunday to look back at a time when we were young and a car was the ultimate dream of freedom for many of the time.
I got one that I saw in the theater as a double feature with "Eat My Dust": Called "Checkered Flag or Crash", it started Joe Don Baker as a Mickey Thompson-esque off road racer competing in something similar to the Baja 1000 in a Jeep or Bronco type vehicle. I have never seen it shown, or even mentioned, since that day. Circa 1976 or 77. I was about 11.
I vaguely remember that one, it was more of a single seat dune buggy he was racing. I believe Susan Sarandon and Larry Hagman were in it too, if used to turn up on cable long ago
That Barracuda in the #10 video might have been anything from '67 to '69. It was too customized to tell. But one thing is certain is that it wasn't a 383 or a 440, it was a small block. It could have been a 273, 318 or 340.
Thank you for your comment as you and another viewer had pointed out this error. A correction has been made and it is much appreciated as sometimes situations like this happen and MFP is dedicated to present the most accurate information as possible.
I saw three of these movies on first release in the cinema: Shaker's Run, Corvette Summer and Good Pie Porkpie. The later is the best of those three.
The guy that built the corvette for corvette summer lived in Morgan Hill CA. I lived there at the time, and I remember seeing it parked in his driveway in a normal neighborhood!!!!
Number 9 The last chase, the art department totally screwed up with the artwork advertising at 2:08 what looks like a Mirage IIIV and 3:37 instead of a F86 Sabre they used a F4 Phantom. Almost as bad as the motorcycle John Conner rode in Terminator 2 with a 2 stroke sound instead of the actual 4 stroke Honda XR100 and sporting about 200 gears instead of the actual 5 gears.
how about Hi-Riders (1978) plenty of muscle car action in it , movie is on youtube
Corvette Summer the best out of the 10.
First time viewer of MFP - Map Film Productions. Good content ( I actually own all but 3 of the films listed) in a 153 DVD 'where cars were the stars' collection. Probably the last time viewing your content, as the narration is spoken too fast ... (even closed captioning can't keep up) ... slow down and make a 22 minute film. It isn't a race.
'Hot Rod' (1979) or I think it is called that; I have the DVD somewhere? and what about 'The California Kid' ? Just saying
Anyone able to help?
I remember a film either from the late 1980s or early to mid-1990s, featuring a bizzarre range of cars and characters. Of the cars I rememver, it featured a pink Citroen Mehari driven by an older hippy-ish couple. The car itself seemed to be sentient too, since I remember it making hiccup noises. A middle class family was in a Volvo 740 Turbo estate/station wagon. At one point it ends up totalled by another car, and the accountant-in-a-suit-and-glasses style dad/driver of the family Volvo said in an upset tone "Awww my beautiful Volvo! 😥" A muscle car of some sort was in it driven by a "Fonz" type guy with the rest of the passengers being women. Pretty sure a Countach was in it too.
It was a comedy and I'm pretty sure the plot involved "whoever is first wins big money", a la Cannonball.
Anyone know the name of it from these few details!? 🤣
Ok, the Barracuda in Corky is in fact a 1968 Barracuda Fastback. The 1967 was only available in a coupe. The 1969 was identical, except it was available with a larger powerplant and one major difference, the side marker lights on the 1968 were round, they were square on the 1969. People often mistakenly check the date on cars by looking at the identification plaque inside the door panel. This shows the year it was manufactured, not the model year, since cars have to be ready to be sold by the first day of the new year, they begin manufacturing them six months prior. So in order for a 1968 model to be ready to be sold in 1968, it must first be built, which for some cars could have taken up to six months to do. This is my 1968 Barracuda Fastback that my grandfather ordered directly from the manufacturer.
I've watched Goodbye Pork Pie about 200 times growing up in NZ. Shirl was a stunner!
I loved the movie Corvette Summer back when I was a kid and it came out...
1977's Double Nickels has some great chases.
I saw Corvette Summer when I was like 11. Back then I thought the car was over done and I still do. Enjoyed the movie though. Just watched it last month here on UA-cam.
The Vette is another of those Dream Cars that occupy space in my imaginary garage.🤣
"Corvette Summer" -- it was a time of cool cars and coming of age.
Goodbye Pork Pie. One of the best cars chase movies of all time
The Last Chase 🥸👍🏼
Corvette Summer was my favorite movie when I was younger. I currently have it on standard DVD and watch it from time to time just to get my fix 🤘😁
In the introduction of this video there's a brief clip of a black sedan, maybe a Holden EK crashing into the burning overturned wreckage of a red car. What film is that clip from?
It's watch out we're mad. The scene is the moment the Dune Buggy is hit by a random European car. It might be a GM, though not 100% sure at this moment.
Great vid as always, "Shaker Run" is my favourite out of that list, still got the original VHS rental copy that I forgot to take back, doesn't play to well now though lol
For a bit of esoterica, I watched Corvette Summer in French in a theatre when it first came out.
GTA MOVIE?
If you do a third series you might try to find the Taxi series out of France. Some amazing stunts. Don't confuse them for a movie of the same name in the US which was abysmal.
Cheers. It has popped up on the channel and you can find it listed on Top 10 WTF moments in car chase movies list. I was planning in doing a breakdown video about the film, but most of the behind the scenes info available is in french, so it proved difficult at this time.
the opening scene of Speed zone is IMO the best of the three. buuuuut the movie blows
What about the Commodore in Cold Sweat starring Charles Bronson?
Eat my dust is a pretty good movie and it's free on UA-cam.
mk1 is not pronounced "em kay one", it actually means "mark 1"
Stingray hasn’t aged, still got a tempo and action going with very nice angles. My #1
The Driver with Ryan O’Neal is an excellent movie
When even having the 6 million dollar man driving a Can-Am Spyder vs The Joker flying an F-86 Sabre can't save your film it's time to find a new job delivering pizza. It's one of the worst movies I have ever seen.
#3 should include Vanishing Point, Black Moon Rising and The Wraith.
That's the Penguin, not the Joker.
You will find The Wraith mentioned several times in the channel. Including an in depth documentary about the car from it and a 20 minute documentary on the 50th anniversary of Vanishing Point. Enjoy.
Happy to see Corvette Summer on this list.
Very very good Work and best decisions. Thank you for doing this!
Cheers. Feel free to check out the other top 10s on the channel.
Subscribed mate .
Cheers mate.
would "Runaway Car" (1997) classify ??? the whole movie is about a car who lost brakes and must navigate hazzards until the fuel tank finally runs out and they can stop
Corvette summer vette was probably the ugliest Corvette ever
‘A 7.4 liter hydramatic V8’ 🙄🧐...🎉
very cool video! lots of lost cinema
'Corvette Summer' is not a forgotten film.
Love corvette summer and Terrence and bud Spencer movies
Very cool list! Don't forget about the 1981 "King Of The Mountain" with Harry Hamilton and Dennis Hopper.
I haven't. You will find it mentioned on the top 10 forgotten car chase movies part 1 video on the channel. Cheers.
That film is free on UA-cam, and I have to agree. Also, another good one is The California Kid w/ Martin Sheen.
*Harry Hamlin
Robert Blake just died recently.
The Last Chase is an excellent movie!
Little know fact about speed zone and the dukes of Hazzard John Schneider played in the movie as himself and that was his Lambo though it was a Pontiac fiero that skipped across the water cuz countach cars don't have a flat underside like most lambos do today
perfect.. i need one more film to see, No Mans Land's car chase, it has a detective and his partner in a 930 Turbo while be pursuited by a Lincon Contental
How about Greased Lightning (Richard Pryor) and King of the Mountain (Dennis Hopper)
11:51 Aw, RIP Jessi Combs... 😢
at 1:16 it say as seen in the film with the 383 engine. The picture clearly shows the distributor at the rear of the engine. Making it a LA mall block, proabably a 318 .
