    Thanks for that video! So wanted to see how rookies got taught the track. And what NYST was like. I just want to know how you manage without rear view mirrors!!?? That would scare me more than anything. Did a great job riding! 90 mph!

      I think more or less the expectation is that people honor the racing line so hence no mirrors cause if you're getting passed it'll be on the straights. But it was pretty fun day for sure! If you go, enjoy!

      Did you rent or did you have your ride? Either way, it's definitely a blast!

    Hey man, thanks for the upload. Im thinkin about headin out there for a rookie weekend. Nervous, cause track riding is a whole different beast. This looks like it "holds your hand" and guides you through being on the track. Am very excited as well!

      Yes, if you go with Bad Kitty Pete will take care of you. He was supposed to plug in his GoPro and show us our footage (lines, etc.) on his TV in his RV but he didn't do that for us for some reason. No matter, unlike the other two guys who were in my group that day I was very comfortable on a sport bike so I picked it up quickly and that's why he took me out with the Novice group later in the day instead of leaving me with those two guys who were holding me back a ton lol.
      I definitely recommend it. I haven't been back but really need to. It was awesome.

      oh, cool. Yeah, I've been ridin on the same bike for about 3 seasons now, was at the Dragon last year - which was crazy (definitely recommend if you havent been) and have been wanted to hit the track for a while now.
      Some friends who live in NY were talking about this [Rookie Day] and I figured it would be a good intro to being on the Track,

    Nice to see you had a great experience like I did. There were only 2 of us and 2 instructors the day I went (Pete and Mike of Bad Kitty). My best time (i think) was in my 2nd session (2:20). Seems most of my laps were about 2:30 (track record is about 1:31 per some other video)... I figure anything under 3:30 is good for a rider with < 10 years (i've been riding a long long time, other type tracks such as MX and flat-dirt)... I think my speed limiter was seating posture per the too much weight on my hands... I'd have done better on a super-moto seating position, or one more like my EBR 1190sx... Also, limited my desired lean angle to street/pait-stipe-sanity), etc.

    Im taking this course this weekend. Any advise? Seems like you run the whole lap in second/third gear.

      Sorry, just saw this message. Yeah, you kept it under 70mph probably the whole time except for the straight lol. How did your session go? People in my group struggled the most with turn 1.

    Are the rookie weekends only for motorcycles? Their website is a little confusing how it divides the weekend categories into "Cars, Motorcycles, Rookies".

      @FstLaneUkraine  5 років тому +1

      I never looked into the car stuff, but if I had to venture a guess I would think it is as bikes are inherently more dangerous so they try to minimize the times rookies are out on track with knee draggers doing 2x the speeds.

    Should do another 2018 track day to compare what you learned then vs now, and so you can stop allowing so much space by the candy stripes! :P
    Keep riding, and use your own bike, so you can get suspension on YOUR bike setup for YOU. Night and day difference, and you get more comfortable overall since its YOUR bike. Have fun, and just dont go balls out early in the AM and you’ll find yourself with your own number soon enough (if you dont have it by now already)

      @FstLaneUkraine  6 років тому

      Definitely want to do another one but don't have a track worthy bike (I have a small CC cruiser now) at the moment.

      FstLaneUkraine it feels weird to do, but i think my most memorable and most fun track days were on a 300.... theyre so agile and you can pretty much just keep it wide open the whole time and just throttle off for deceleration lol. Best part is, those bikes are cheap! Another alternative is just buy someones trackbike off craigslist (usually same price as a 250/300). Itd be track only (usually stripped of all nonessentials including gauge cluster) but at least your only worry is that it simply needs to run and go lol
