First heard it when I was learning how to snowboard in 2nd or 3rd grade, and I've used that phrase ever since. Second, and last time I heard it was when I was racing Formula cars when I was 21ish.
This is the best and most complete "first track day" video I've seen. This is exactly how it happens, and people really are super friendly at the track. My first track day I was nervous about tech inspection and that all the riders would be intimidating, but there is a huge mix of riders and everyone bands together quickly, espcially if its your first time.
Really great content and editing! I think this was the best first track day video I have watched. It was helpful to see the whole process, from gear selection and loading the bikes all the way through to loading up to head home, and it was also great to see the day from the perspective of two riders and different levels of experience. Revzilla's videos have really been moving up the ladder of story telling. Good stuff!
A cruiser rider put onto a sport bike she's never really ridden then pushed out onto a track in front of everybody there and 10 cameras for the whole of UA-cam to see. I'd be worried too haha!
My wife and I are doing our first track day in November here in California - this video is what we're hoping to experience. I showed it to her and she is now way less fearful after Alessandra's experience.
Excellent video for all track riders, very accurate and detailed. For slower riders remember it’s your day to enjoy yourself, don’t worry to much about faster riders as long as you’re have fun that’s the main thing. I still remember my first track day, my local track is Phillip island Australia and it was an absolute honour to ride on an international circuit.
Ian Kitterman the problem in Philly isn't the heat, it's that the humidity is up around 100 percent all summer. I love this city, but summer makes me want to move away.
Thumbs up for helping folks take it to the track instead of the street. In my youth, I did some really stupid street riding and thought I was joe cool. Once I started racing, I found out that absolutely anything I could do on the street didn't hold a candle to the track. I credit the track with saving me from serious injury or death. Well worth the investment multiple times over.
Got all my gear from Revzilla. Full setup...only 850$ all clearance. Put it all on my card 5 months paid off. I love ZLA. Just ordered another full 1 piece. $500..now need matching boots and gloves on clearance. Addiction is a serious thing. But Im smoking rubber on the track not dope...LOL..AND I am in Colorado. Take care.
I got to ride 2up with Freddie Spencer in Vegas many years ago. It was the best lesson ever. He trusted himself and the bike like a God. Taught me where the limits really are for regular riders ...Between the ears :)
Was so cool watching this video at a track I've been to several times already lol! I love NJMP! But I just want to thank Spurg, Alessandra and Lance for this video! I now have a GREAT video to share with my buddies who CONSTANTLY ask me about the track! A lot of great material covered in this video! Watching me and my friends go through our first days was definitely an intimidating experience at first, but once you go through it, it very quickly becomes one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences in your riding career! Not only does it improve your riding by 300% but once you live it, you realize that the track is not necessarily the intimidating competitive atmosphere you initially thought it to be; but a playground for you to really learn and improve and become a better rider. Once you start to focus on yourself and not the other riders, you quickly start to see yourself improve more more, that when you implement these same techniques in the street, you'll be AMAZED at how much faster or safer you can choose to be. You can learn so much more at 1 track day, than what you would learn riding 8 years at your local twisties. Trust and believe that. Thank you Revzilla for sharing this with the motorcycle community! I'm sure many people will find great use of this video 🙏. I hope I get to see you guys at NJMP one day! 💪
Fantastic content guys! I’ve been daily riding for four years, and I’ve always wanted to ride on a track. This really inspired me to just do it already. I think I’m overdue on a track day!
I’m 63yrs young, and have been riding most of my life, yet have only done one track day (even though I live 10mi from Fontana). That being said, I ride a super naked, and consider myself a fast rider, though I am sure my skills could improve. His was really a great video! And really stresses the point that no matter how good you think you are, track days will make you better. Until you can lap a track time like Marc Marquez, or Valentino Rossi, there’s room for improvement
Revzilla, thank you. You are a great organization that champions a sport we all love. Far from a noob and still watch your content. Keep up the good work.
U-Haul is the best option if you don't have a trailer. They're wicked nice about helping you,the price and flexibility with time is great. But once you go if you are getting into this regularly and for a passion,I'd find a small hitch on Craig's list or marketplace. Obviously every item you own pays for itself in time. But renting everything you need to have a fun day isn't really too bad. Ya sure if you're a McDonald's cashier I wouldn't advise getting into this but any bluecollar, trade worker middle class definitely can afford to get into this
Hey... ChampStreet Grad!! I'm doing my second one at NJMP this Tuesday. Where was yours? Wish there was a way for grads to connect and meet up. Ride safe, ride well. (R=MPH)
@@williammahaffy4642 I took my class at NJMP last summer. I enjoyed it but the track is just a little too far away from my liking. I had to travel 350 mi as this was the closest place near me. I really wish they would find a place up in the Northeast as it is a very popular place for bikers.
If you safety wire your bike be prepared to fix it or to eat the drop in value when you plan to sell. If I am buying a bike, you can say "track day" all you want but I see a bike that has been raced. BTW track days are the best skill enhancement you can do with your bike. You get the chance to push your bike to the limit without worrying about running off a cliff or smacking a semi.
Gotta absolutely agree how track riding techniques help with riding on the street. I used to look at my cockpit oh so often to check speed/gear but after track day I realized the importance of "look where you want to go". I already was sort of practicing this but it was at the track it help me reinforce how important that is for safety and the general riding.
Great video! Love the down-to-earth approach you guys took. The track-day community is very welcoming, and it's always nice to see everyday riders getting into it.
Cool video, I did my first track day two months ago and do my second one in September. It was a lot of fun but I rented the motorcycle and it takes away A LOT of the prep. My only complaint about track days are the expenses. This is not for the cheap or for those who are struggling financially. I am bringing my own bike and the prices are going through the roof. If you don't have a truck, get ready to rent one. You don't want to go on crap tires, so new tires. I plan on going every 4 months or so. Can't wait to get a truck :(
I’m super excited because I’m going for my first track day in two weeks. It’s also an evolve gt event but at Pocono raceway. I’m doing leather/boot/glove rentals for this one because I only have textile riding gear and short cuff gloves. Luckily with Evolvegt your first track day is only $149 and includes free leather rentals! I’m going out on my 2018 Triumph Street Triple 765.
Great video...I just finished my first few track days this spring and summer. Your video provides a great introduction...Revzilla you are truly #1 in the industry...love your online store and content...thanks!
Watched this when it came out and saved it for when I finally go for my first track day which will be this Sunday so had to come back and watch it again. Awesome video! I'll try and remember to come back and comment on how it actually went for me hehe.
Looks like a fun day. I dont have a bucket list but If I did thats pretty much on top..Hopefully one day in the near future. Im not getting any younger.
Awesome content as usual from Revzilla. Great job in making a fun video that covers all the aspects of a track day from A to Z. I have my first track day this weekend at sepang and it will be at night and I’m really nervous about it. Thanks for the useful tips!
Really great video, but a couple of points. First, not all track days allow any/all kinds of bikes (especially cruisers), so check with the group before you show up with your Harley. Second, safety prep for the bike usually doesn't change just because you're a beginner. Logically, why would it? Newb crash and 'expert' crash both mean hard parts on the ground. Again, best to check with the group. Lastly, for a very first track day, it's a very good idea to go to a "sessions" track day like the one shown here so you can learn the basics with folks of similar skill set and pace. Hold off on the 'no sessions' days until you've done a few and know the ropes. Great vid! I've done track days for years and still get a thrill every time. Bringing folks out for their first time is always a blast, too.
I had my first track day at NCM on Halloween. I came up realizing I was faster than I thought I would be but still way slower than a lot of people. Learned a lot tho.
that's why i love the nurburgring. You came as is, and going to ride the green hell, but damn it's ludicrous expensive, 25€ a lap... but with one or two you have your pleasure for the day !
Great vid. Track days have changed quite a bit since I did my last one 20 years ago. Back then you nominated a speed and tried to keep up with faster guys while copying what they were doing, eventually copying the guys that raced. No such thing as lessons, which led to a lot of accidents. Glad things have changed to a much safer and inclusive day out for all levels of riders.
This video was freaking awesome! I must admit, I wasn't always sure about Alessandra and if she fit into the RevZilla video spokes person UA-cam style of things (not that anyone asked me). But have now taken to her. Guts and the willingness to learn outside of her comfort zone. I was wrong, wrong, wrong in my thinking about her. Great job to Alessandra and Spurg for this great video.
Excellent video!! I've been tossing around going to a beginners track day and this made REALLY wanna do it now! I think I'm going to go to the next one they have at Pocono raceway. And spurge, as the proud owner of a Triumph Street Triple R 765, I LOVE your choice of bike!! That thing is GORGEOUS!!
Good video. I was hit on my street bike in 2010 (hit and run), all ligaments in my right knee destroyed or torn. Ridden since but don't own a bike. Been looking to ride on a track (way safer). Good bit of info on here. I wish you would stress FUN more than learning; lol but I get ur points. Thanks for the video.

I think it would be pretty great to do a follow up video at some point with Alessandra and have her discuss what kind of an effect this track day has had on her street riding skills. Great video Revzilla- as always! And @Alessandra- though I have been riding for 16 years, this year, like you, I also did my first track day with Evolve at NJMP and my experience was more or less the same as yours! It definitely is an investment (time or money) to keep going back as I am more of the adventure, travel parts unknown kind of guy- but I will surely go back if I get a great deal as I got with Evolve GT.
Been wanting to do a track day since I got my bike, definitely feel like Alessandra. I hope next summer I can get around to actually going to one. Great video!
Hi Guys, I have been thinking about going on track for some time already but this is the final push. As the bike season here in Slovakia is almost at the end, I will hit the track next year but nevertheless thanks a lot for this video.
To be nervous is just normal! Important don’t forget your Bike key🔑😂 Write a to do/check list to check your stuff before you start the trip! Your gear, cash,Tools and and and.... Ride safe and enjoy it
Just keep in mind that NJMP has two courses, Lightning and Thunderbolt, we were on Thunderbolt which is a bit more technical. I've ridden both courses and I recommend Thunderbolt because it's a bit more technical and thus fun!
Well made video Revzilla! Perfect timing as I am planning my first track day here in Bahrain when it opens up for the new season. Gave me more insight on how it all goes down. I think I'll be starting off like Alessandra and taking things slow. Btw clean looking Triumph! 💙
"practice dose't make perfect, practice makes permanent."
Been saying this for years, and this is the second person I've ever heard use it.
Seth Glenn congratulations!
"progress not perfection" is another, love that saying
First heard it when I was learning how to snowboard in 2nd or 3rd grade, and I've used that phrase ever since. Second, and last time I heard it was when I was racing Formula cars when I was 21ish.
False
You got it from someone else too
I say practice makes progress, close enough!
Do not leave your key in the ignition while trailing. Ask me how I know.
Yeah I cringed at that too!
How do you know bloke

Smiled for 23 minutes straight. I'm planning on buying a Ninja 400 this year. Hopefully i'll try a track day eventually.
have you done it yet?
Hope ya did it man! Just got my 400 a month ago. Best decision I've made.
AJ Becker I got my 400 about the same time and I cant wait to take it out on a track day. Probably the best low CC bike to do it on too
yeah dude did you go? i want to try a track day so bad!
AJ Becker everyone’s getting a 400🤣
10:57 she’s like “WTF did I get into” lol.
Haha saw that

One key word, NEVER, NEVER LOOK BACK.... listen to your coach! 👍👍
Videos like this really help beginners get out on the track. I’ve met two people who said this was their final push. Pretty cool!
"It was really hot, like high 80s" ...lol
*Laughs in Phoenix AZ
Ian Kitterman rode somo at noon today!
lagswitchFTW Nice I need to get up there I hear it's better than Mulholland!
Ian Kitterman the problem in Philly isn't the heat, it's that the humidity is up around 100 percent all summer. I love this city, but summer makes me want to move away.

so what are the requirements for gear on track day ?
Full leathers (or two-piece leathers that zip together), gauntlet style gloves and boots.

Thanks for turning all of my nervousness into excitement. Can't wait to get on the track. Subscribed.

“Super hot, high 80’s.” Come to track days in Texas lol, 100+
I like that the organizers had coaches that were compassionate about making people comfortable and not intimidated . Especially with that female rider
This was a really nice detailed and thought out way to present track day. It wasn't just about going as fast as you can, and the information was presented in an educational way. Good job!
NJMP is a beautiful track
And just got resurfaced. Getting some laps on it this week!
I wish i could get my stache like that!
I think it would be pretty great to do a follow up video at some point with Alessandra and have her discuss what kind of an effect this track day has had on her street riding skills. Great stuff. I always feel like it's a new experience at every new track day I attend. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video. Answered a ton of questions. Really appreciated the novice vs experienced side of things.
This was a great video, guys!! I really want to do one of these!
Awesome video, I was just preparing for my first track day 😋
That brother Moto shirt!!!!!! Love it!

I really need to set loose on the track one of these days. Looks like fun.
This is my goal for this year!!!
Looks so fun! :D Looking forward to my first track day in the future.
This video was perfect. I’m not far from njmp. Only been to nyst so far, so now I’m excited to try it!
Just keep in mind that NJMP has two courses, Lightning and Thunderbolt, we were on Thunderbolt which is a bit more technical. I've ridden both courses and I recommend Thunderbolt because it's a bit more technical and thus fun!
OOohhhh. I like that mug. I snore and I'm about to get my motorcycle and that is great. lol.
Make more content like this. If you come to COTA I’ll join you.
Planning on doing a track day but honestly I’m still nervous about being judged, this video definitely helps though.
Don't worry about it. Everyone has to start somewhere! -DrewZilla
Well made video Revzilla! Perfect timing as I am planning my first track day here in Bahrain when it opens up for the new season. Gave me more insight on how it all goes down. I think I'll be starting off like Alessandra and taking things slow. Btw clean looking Triumph! 💙
Don't know why people don't watch quality content.
The poor dude in the blue leathers had some speed wobbles 😆 14:07
