Oneshot is a game that I'll probably never play again, but remains one of my favorite story-based games of all time. A shame I can never experience it for the first time again.
@@pirilon78 depends how "forth wall breaking" we're talking about, i'd say it's about one step above DDLC where you have to utilize your computer a few times to progress through
I remember when I was playing OneShot for the first time, the decision at the end had me considering my options for 10 minutes... *10 MINUTES*. No other decision in any game had me think for that long. Definitely one of my all time favorites.
You may have missed the end end, then, because the real ending doesn't actually *have* a choice - I figure if you haven't found the real ending, you should try, because it'll give you some closure for the game.
It's silly, but after finishing Oneshot I genuinely felt like life was emptier, like a person I knew was gone. It honestly reminded me of the weeks after my childhood dog passed. I've never had any game leave such an impact on me and I don't think I'll ever experience that again.
I think a lot of AAA companies don't understand (at least until now) is that players ultimately want to be engaged with many facets of their games and not just the gameplay. Indie developers in a good amount of cases really do understand this and I commend them for creating masterpieces such as Oneshot. Here's to hoping that they can lead the videogame industry into a better direction.
The problem with AAA is that its usually (at least to some extent) just a cash grab. This doesnt mean they are necessarily bad, but the problem is that the goal is always to make money and not to make people enjoy the game. Another problem is that triple A's often try to do whats popular and appeal to as many people at once as possible. Indies on the other hand are pieces of art that share a bond with their creator. Not everyone will like them, but those that do will like them a lot. Sure, this is not applicable to all AAA and indie games, but the general principle can be observed nearly everywhere.
There was a Flash game on Newgrounds maybe ten years ago called _One Chance_ which gave you one chance to beat it, and if you tried to reload it, it would just load up whatever end screen you got. You could trick it into letting you play it again by deleting your temporary internet files.
Haven’t watched the video yet, but I just wanna say that the ending of the first playthrough was the most horrified I’ve ever felt at a piece of media. Like, I couldn’t stop shaking! You should also check out the solstice ending, like not the ending the game gives you, the ending you gotta achieve. The ending where you have to go back after your "one shot", if you haven't, trust me and many others its really worth it
I'm assuming he has gotten the solstice ending simply because of the airplane scene he showed for at 4:46 from said ending. Guessing he just chose not to bring it up in any capacity because it'd probably go beyond his "no spoiler" approach to videos
Solstice was honestly the most interesting part of OneShot that got me to stay and get both endings. It's been a while since I finished it, and I still listen to some of the OST because it's so chill.
OneShot has always held a special place in my heart, although it only took me two days to complete it has been one of my favorite games for years. It’s the kind of game that makes me want to wipe my mind just to experience it one more time. Do yourself a favor and buy it, you won’t regret it.
I'm not one to watch your videos often but I must admit that when I saw "Oneshot" in the title, I got hyped. SPOILER WARNING!!! Oneshot is an absolute favorite game of mine and many other friends of mine too. I first discovered the game years ago and I played through the whole thing (Solstice included) and loved it to the bottom of my heart. Its story is so unbelievably touching and holds a very close place to my heart for how attached I became towards it. I've never played a game that had me almost tearing up like this it was magnificent. I probably would've enjoyed the game a lot more but I had the misfortune of playing with an old friend who ended up ruining it for me by either spoiling a lot, backseat gaming, or making the story more intense and dramatic than it was supposed to be, ultimately holding back its full impact. However I still adored the game, it's now my favorite story game of all time. I've recently had the pleasure of introducing Oneshot to a very close friend of mine and letting him play it all the way without spoilers or getting too involved in the story or anything. When they approached the tower and realized they had to either destroy the world or leave Niko to die, I shit you not I have never heard him cry so genuinely like that before. It took about 5-10 minutes I believe until he had the courage to make his choice and save Niko. ONLY THEN did I decide to say "btw there's a secret ending where you can save both lol" and we played that the next 2 days later. It became one of his favorite games and he began to love it as much as me. About a month passes and I hear the news that this friend just introduced Oneshot to THEIR friend, and now they had the honor of listening to their friend cry in a call at the tower so they could reveal the secret ending just after the choice was made, making that new friend love the game too. Oneshot hits people so personally with how real the characters appear as and I admire that. You wanna be careful because you've bonded so much with this character and you just want the best for them. My final quote for the game is that "It's the best game you'll never want to play again" because even I for about a year or two decided that I would never reopen Oneshot after Solstice because I just wanted best for Niko and everyone else. I didn't care about achievements or anything, I just wanted the characters to rest peacefully in a world now perfect.
Every time I hear Oneshot music, my chest hurts, because of how amazing it is and of how real the characters felt to me. I've played it so many times and I kow I will do so more each year.
Oneshot is a game that I don't see ever leaving my number one favorite game. Seeing first Pyrocynical talk about it, and now Foekoe makes me hopeful that more people will be able to experience this gem of a game. This game actually reminds me of the little prince. The idea of taming. A character, that is young and asks a lot of questions entering a world that is oblivious to them. We, as the god i feel as we are the pilot from the book. This game is a masterpiece.

This game ruined my mental state and I'm never playing it again.
11/10, one of the best things I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
I'm surprised he didn't do anything to the goat here 4:43
Now....
We will wait for this video to recommend on the main side of UA-cam
And then
*LONG LIVE NIKO*
w game, w video
My favorite part in this video is the part where he suddenly starts laying into gamer stereotypes for no reason at all
I Am Legitimately In Tears Right Now. I Love This Game To Death, I Want That Cinnamon Roll Called Niko So Bad In My Life. And Now, One Of My Favorite UA-camrs Making A Hit Indie Game Oneshot Review Is Awesome. Heck, I Was Even Like "Oh My God Is This ACTUALLY Real?" Foekoe, I Doubt You're Gonna Read This But I Would Be So Happy If You Made Something As Little As Use A Millisecond Of A Oneshot Song Or Vague Reference In A Future Video. Yes, I Am Aware That My Passion To Oneshot Is Huge, And That I Should Probably Get Help. But I Just Can't Help It!
You Made Me Cry Like When I've Beaten The Solstice Ending, Bravo.
Thanks to this video you pretty much talked about all my fav games
Midshot 🥱
Oneshot is an amazing game and it sucks i wont be able to experience it for the first time again, really hits you in the feels the first time around
No, no we don't.
^^^^^^
I remember when I played it, I cried as the credits rolled. I don't think I've ever cried at a game before. But holy crap this game made the characters feel alive in a way no other title has ever managed for me.
It's 12 am i finnally decided to sleep and then foekoe uploads WOW
I honestly waited a long time, that you'll make a video about OneShot and I'm so glad, that it's finally here :D
OneShot is the best game ever and nobody can convince me otherwise
Friendly reminder that Markiplier never ended oneshot true ending, so "his niko" is trapped
Its amazing when a game sucks you in and gives you the feels.
I played this game back in 2018, I am really happy that it is getting more popular.
Honestly my favourite story game ever.
Finally someone talks about Oneshot
This makes me unspeakably happy.
Glad to see new people finding this game
Just finished this game two weeks ago, glad foekoe did a video on it!
