I recommend this anime. It's set in a kind of ancient chinese setting, but fantasy. The MC is the girl, she is the Raven Consort of the inner palace. Raven Consort does not serve at night (sleep with the emperor) rather they are like the one with magical power, witchcraft, perhaps. So they served the emperor with their power and the emperor is not allowed to touch the raven consort. This is a tradition for so many generations. Raven consort is not chosen by the emperor but instead spiritually chosen. Our MC is a young raven consort, she had become a consort since she was a teenager after the previous raven consort died. The ML is the new emperor who took back the right to his throne from his unkind step mother, the empress (dowager). He tried to visit the raven consort out of deep curiousity at first, he wanted to get to know and even get her help. At first he was not entirely sure about magic but raven consorts do use magic and it's passed through the line of raven consorts. Together, they solved the mystery of the bloody past of the palace.
The MC is dignified but socially awkward. She was humble but noble at the same time. Her dark past made her mature early. The ML is the standard troubled imperial son who was not favored initially, he is mature and understanding, also very compassionate. Not to mention the soundtrack is amazing.

Just see the anime and den u will get why they will not be together as married couple...the drama is not mainly focus on romance..but we can feel the romance 😀😀 the funny think I also thought they will end up together.but after searching commente online about novel i got disappointed...but anyways its good story .

Can someone explain the timeline?
Her entire family/clan was killed by the previous emperor (current emperors grandfather)
But the raven consort is less then 20 and his father was over 40 when he died while the current emperor is somewhere between 23-27 years old. Yet she was a little over 5-7 yrs old when her family were slaughtered.
