- BRAND NEW CLUBS BUT ARE THEY WORKING THE WAY YOU WANT THEM TO?
In this #tourtrucktuesday upload we talk about how the best players in the world maintain their equipment on a weekly basis.
Have you even checked your new clubs since they arrived at your door?
Have you changed your grips and not checked the swing weights?
Are your shaft weights graded correctly for your set make up?
These variables could be holding you back as a player and costing you vital shots!
With the Good Good Mid West Open around the corner I deep dive into what I look for in my own set, explaining all the different measurements from swing weight through to loft and lie. Your club set up is an easy thing to overlook or assume never changes, don’t fall into the trap and be sure to maintain the levels your game deserves.
I would go through this process almost every week for players such as Jason Day, Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm & Justin Rose, you should too!

Would love to see you do a video looking at building a bag on a budget with second hand clubs. Something for those of us who can't afford a whole new set (yet).
He’s only gonna recommend Taylormade clubs so this idea would be pointless.
@@JordanHacheyGolf that's a fair point. Shame really.. His knowledge is priceless.
How much does that bag weigh Trottie?
Great video. Love how you show the importance of checking your clubs specs and the breakdown of each one.
I do find myself sending mine back every two years for spec checks but maybe I need to reconsider and do it annually also.
Changing the golfing world one video at a time.
Thank you for the advice Trottie.
great one as always
Really good advice, probably time to get mine checked. I have a swinging (analog) scale at home, but want a loft and lie machine.
Top drawer as always Trottie 👌
Damn dude! You've got so much gear in that little bag.
If you add a couple of extra clubs to the bag, people will be thinking Hideki Matsuyama stopped by.
🤣🤣🤣
nah this was mild 🤣
As always great information Trottie. I can't find the old video you mentioned about Jason Day and his lofts.
ua-cam.com/video/USdw3NzydQI/v-deo.html
Old one but I think it's this one. Thx mate
“This thing hasn’t made much cash so it doesn’t matter if we break it” LMAO
Good luck in the event!!
Gotta keep these things honest
Trottie so epic super insightful, what’s a good general baseline for swing weight step ups throughout the set ?
Also do many players generally only bend their wedges to stop flicking them over ?
Lastly what’s a good step up weight wise incrementally for the drivers and woods ?
Currently have a hzrds smoke red 60 in the driver, just the stock ventus tr 6s for the 3 wood unsure of the weight and Kai’li red 75s in the 3 wood.
I always grade the weight if the player doesn't object too much or have a preference.
All speed dependent but 60 to 80 on the FW's and Driver
Swing weight question you gotta watch this video:
ua-cam.com/video/Ww2GaXSEX9Q/v-deo.htmlsi=Bg8_BN2J_aI4vjSG
Then wedge lies are very personal. I've seen players go a little flatter to just have a softer flight.
Very personal to be honest and FITR dependent.
@@trottiegolf legend thanks so much again mate, any idea on the weights for the stock ventus that comes with the stealth 2 3 wood & plus 5 wood with the kaili red ?
@@ryansmith9283 no I'd be guessing but usually on the lighter side because the masses who don't upgrade the shaft need lighter to help with ball flight direction and height.
Chances are if you're asking these questions then you gotta investigate a heavier shaft than stock.
Trottie, great gear head video... have enjoyed your channel with all the different content. Side question more so for your shaft fit video, I currently play Project X 6.0's in my irons but having increasingly more body parts fail... getting older sucks (tennis elbow in both arms, wrist issues). I'm at a point thinking its time to move to lighter weights and graphite to hopefully help allow me to play more with less stress on the body parts. Any suggestions on shaft recommendations to support this switch?? Thanks, Jim
following this post. im younger but my shoulders are bad and hitting irons are the most taxing on my body.
@@lasuzzoeaglegaming thx guys. You gotta get off mats and rest the wrists. That's step one. I think mats are harsh. Then graphite wise there's a few options to look at. KBS have new graphite out, Steel Fiber seem popular with injured players and the new Fuji graphite iron shaft looks good albeit the ones I hit were SOOOOO STIFF!!
With all things you have to try them.
One thing I was literally told last night from an ex-European Tour player reference injuries to wrists AND THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST MOVE..... thicker grips to ease grip pressure.
I'd say start there first before changing the whole shaft profile as shafts can be a major change.
My qi10 7 wood. I hit my ping g425 7 wood incredibly well but loved the look of the qi10 but I just can’t hit it like I hit the ping
is there a video explaining the numbers more
ua-cam.com/video/VpqoHp5IXk0/v-deo.htmlsi=E3M1EdXJsbFLifjn
Take a look at this. There must be something in here.
I think if folks want a deeper dive into loft and lies then I can certainly offer that.
Hi Tottie a bought the i10 max driver a month ago a went like for like with my stealth HD a had 10.5 reg shaft red on stealth and blue on the i10 a cant hit the i10 at tall what shaft would you reccomend a try
Qi10 V Stealth HD?
First step is check swing weights. That will most likely be your biggest impact.
Then it's actual lofts. I'd look at both of those before getting into the shaft world.
ua-cam.com/video/Ww2GaXSEX9Q/v-deo.htmlsi=Bg8_BN2J_aI4vjSG
Watch this. Start here.
@@trottiegolf thanks a went like for like a thought with my 10.5 stealth HD driver a had it was a red ventus shaft reg on it and thought it would be the same but cant hit it at all all goes straight right
@@williamscott5983 100% check the swing weight
Thanks I'm going to Glasgow on sat to a golf shop to get it checked
I demand a video explaining why u moved from the 120$ taper to the 110 Tour V please lol
Clippd Data. Feel and Clippd Data. The 120$ weren't vibin with me..... and my approach play data was going the wrong way
@@trottiegolf going lighter helped square it up?
@@CraigalFun Timing I would assume, drives consistency.
@@CraigalFun nah I didn't see any real change in dispersion. To be honest and fair to the 120$ I wasn't hitting it particularly well when I picked those up. Was it that? I just know I changed and the data improved and the game started to click.
My biggest thing was the weight. I couldn't get used to the weight quick enough, which is weird as I usually like heavy but in those shafts it just didn't click.
Now would I try them again? it's certainly crossed my mind but approach play wise the Tour V's are working and once I find something in the shaft area I don't like to change.
Obv I live in a world or shafts and product but I rarely like to switch, some things just need to be a constant.
Appreciate the feedback.
Question Mr Trottie? Can anyone go to them and get fitted? Im about a 10ish handicap and i just bought the 790s and im still getting use to them but i put the kbs tour lite in them i like a high ball flight for our couses around here but id love to get fitted just for my game and around here its just not gonna happen ive tried it and the guys doing it just dont have that kinda knowledge. And im kinda intrested in those graphite shafts for the irons if they would help with consistency. Im 38 so ive got s decent swing speed but i kniw tech has come along ways.
Yes mate anyone can go. You can also do a retro build where you order what you think you need and they re-shaft
@trottiegolf ok I'm from alabama but me and the Misses are thinking about a trip somewhere and why not calfornia where I can make a trip to the KBS place! I just got my dhy with the kbs hybrid shaft in it that you use and I'm pretty sure the hybrid is gone out of the bag! That shaft feels amazing and has a beautiful flight to it!!
@trottiegolf and question for you sir I had the tour lites put in my 790s and I've never had a miss to the right but now it a 10 yard miss to the right is that a shaft problem or is that just me coming from the more forgiving irons? I've always been able to figure out how to work a ball flight even with the qi irons being so straight but with the 790s it's straight or a 5 to 10 yard push to the right
@@justinmarbut4331 Lie angles, it has to be. Have you adjusted them for your game?
@@trottiegolf well a couple years ago when I was hitting the stealth irons I went to the pga store here and it's the only place around here but I asked him to check my lie angles and he put a mark on the ball and said swing for me...I did and he said your good! Lol. I didn't know any better at the time. I didn't get into golf until about 5 years ago and I got addicted to it I went into summer thinking how hard can it be! 😂...after a year with a local golf coach and since I'm down to about a 8 handicap and after watching your videos I've come to the realization that there's fitters at big box stores and the real fitters! I wanna continue to improve and you have opened my eyes up to what I'm missing not going somewhere like kbs and doing It the right way but to go back to lie angles that's the only answer I've ever gotten around here...amd to be fair I'm not sure you could hit those stealth and qi irons bad once you learn the fundamentals and how to swing properly but getting into the 790s and trying to improve I wanna find out that I'm in what is best for me. Sorry for the long reply sir!
Can't stand digital SW scales!! I only want to use the Mitchell SW scale and level it out every time I build.
Talking my language
@@trottiegolf I used to build for True Spec golf and that’s the only way I know how to build.
