- Just a bit of slide blues guitar on a vintage 1909 Levin parlor guitar. The first piece is in open G tuning, the second piece in open G minor. The guitar was recorded with an old Calrec CC56 microphone straight into a Focusrite audio interface. See the Levin documentary here:

Yes, I think it's age has a lot to do with the tone. It's also been really well restored.

The only Levin I know of is the Goliath but these fore-runners are great.

Thanks! These old guitars don't take heavy strings well. This guitar has been thoroughly restored, it's set up as good as a new guitar so buzz is not an issue.

Thanks! It's a Dunlop glass slide that I've glued a bit of leather into to make it fit my little finger better.

Andreas, great sound, great playing. Does this guitar have a flatter radius on its fingerboard? Which fingerboard radius is best for slide playing in general, 10, 12, flat, etc.?
Thanks! Old Levins usually have no or little fretboard radius, I don't think they really had a standard back then. For slide no radius at all is best, but of course you can set up most any guitar for slide so that the strings have no radius.

What strings are you using? I assume there's no truss rod?
On this guitar I use Newtone Heritage 012.
