Complete tokenism. 5% on selected items. Big fuggin deal. On essentials like toys.
Take the carbon tax off of fuel so I can get to work and heat my home this winter without going broke just so Justin has a fat federal bank account to fly around the world to climate talks.

That's our taxpayers' money you are spending so he will make you pay income tax on the money you get

Yup. That's what he does. You give him $1000, he spends $750 to pay for the government machinery, give you back $250 that you need to declare on your income tax and pay him back 30% of it so he has more to give back to you and to tax again.

Any Province with HST has to agree to make the changes anyway. They're announcing this blatant attempt to buy votes with ppl's own money as a fait accompli. It is not. Bet the merchants are gonna love the cost and time of reprogramming all the computers for his two month gimmick. And micromanaging it cause of the non-blanket exclusion. And, of course, businesses *never* pass on the added costs of doing business govt imposes on them. Be it by regulation, or a tax being added to the retail price. Like the carbon tax. That adds to our costs, cause it's passed on, but *we* sure as hell don't get a rebate on whatever it jacked up the retail on. LIke, oh, everything that moves more than 5 ft.
