  • Is the new Minn Kota Instinct Quest trolling motor worth the money for a saltwater angler? The Instinct Quest features a brushless motor and it is so quiet and smooth it is hard to believe! In this video I will show you how to stow and deploy the motor, spot lock, autopilot and the new drift mode. I just installed this 87 inch, 115 lb. thrust trolling motor on my Conch 27 center console which weighs 7,000lbs. The Minn Kota has plenty of power and torque and pulls this boat up to 5.2 mph. The trolling motor is powered by 3 100AH Dakota Lithium batteries. I also have the trolling motor linked to my Humminbird Apex.

How long do the 3 batteries last?

They last me a full 10 hour day on the water and I still have power left at the end of the day.

I have an Ulterra on my Ranger I’ll never own another one ! It’s ruined 2 trips so far by doing what they’re known for and that’s not deploying or stowing. My friend just got done taking his to the service center 3 times and it’s the Quest version. They’re wonderful when they work but totally screw you when they don’t. Never again 👍

I had an ulterra on my last boat and literally every 3-6 months the auto stow / deploy would break and I would need to get the stupid thing fixed. And no manual over ride WTF!!!

@@trogdortheburninator8149 The new version has a built in manual stow so, much better than the older units. As far as older units go, I have a rip tide ulterra from 2020, I probably have close to 1500 hours on this troller and on time the motor stopped turning due to the batteries being low, but it still stowed. From what I’ve seen by far the biggest problems people have with these is low voltage and or attempting to deploy or stow when the boat is moving too fast. Has there been defective units? Yep. But if these motors were all bad they wouldn’t be able to sell them. Sorry you had trouble with yours.

To bad that it weighs over a hundred pounds. That's gonna suck on smaller boats.

It's a big boat trolling motor, there is the ulterra and terrova for smaller vessels
