I USED TO LOVE NPR for its great storytelling and informative pieces. Then, everything became about gender issues, racism etc that was not balanced.
I just took my parents to see Garrison Keillor the other month, Prarie Home Companion's 50th Anniversary Tour (awesome). See, people like Keillor is from a different era of Democrat Dogma, yet, now it it's like they are trying to appease Every Letter in the alphabet LGBTQRSTUVWXYZ. I myself am from that era and had enough of this pandering to nonsense...yes, I have been Republican for sometime now and have never looked back.
I expected better from you. You're covering the old tweets of Jon Lansings replacement, without covering what Jon Lansing was doing when she made those tweets. Everything that was wrong with NPR, was made worse by Jon Lansing, and no on will even mention his name, or his career making government propaganda.

Actually NPR only gets like 1% federal funding directly. It gets under 10% indirectly from local, state and federal funds.
I'd like to think the government funding supports its music (classical, blue grass, etc) and other programming like Car Talk.
I stopped listening to their Opinion and "News" probably 15-20 years ago. Their bias has always been front and center and they must think we're idiots not to see it.

I listen to NPR out here in Montana on my way to and from work sometimes just to find out what they think. It's almost egregious the amount of hate they have for any conservative!

I am a life long conservative. Spent 30 years as a Republican. I also listened exclusively to NPR in my car. Sure, it was Lefty news, but its production value was unmatched. Had to stop listening, not every story needs to fit a narrative. They live in a different universe. Was glad to read that they are having giant issues with their staff. Serves them right for ruing a great thing.
Everybody they interview about anything turns out to have a 'partner'.
I used to listen to NPR (before podcasts) all the time in commute, but I had to stop listening to save my own sanity. They were turning me bitter and angry.

@@jamescrowley2733 funny you mention Science Friday. That's how NPR's downfall had started for me. I have a degree in computer science and engineering and I had spent a part of my career working in academia, so I know how the science sausage is put together. Every time I'd hear Science Friday on a topic I had some knowledge, more often than not I'd be cringing at how inaccurate the coverage was. So after a while I started asking myself "If I know they are inaccurate/wrong on topics I know about, how do I know I can trust them with topics I don't know about? Wouldn't they be making mistakes there too?" Years later I learned about the Mann-Gell Amnesia effect :D
The real injustice is the millions of middle age, middle class, middle health working class people who will never be able to retire but have to chip in every payday to keep her fantasy alive.
This shows you how religious of a thing it is for these people. I'm a staunch conservative, big fan of Trump's policies...but I have NEVER dreamed about being on a road trip with the guy. The way they go out of their way to figuratively slit their own wrists and offer themselves up as a sacrifice with the constant "I suck for being white" nonsense...It's insane.

I had a neighbor who worked for NPR, great dude. He invited my wife and I over for a fiesta, he had lived in south America, and we were the only ones eating the yummy carne asada he made, since the rest of the guests were his coworkers and were vegan. They are definitely a liberal echo chamber.

I used to actually send money to NPR local station here in North Carolina because of several wonderful music shows they put on, but it got to the point where I had to stop because they became so woke and so progressive liberal Marxist in all of their news reporting that I got to where I just could not stomach listening to it what really bothers me as a taxpayer is that they get to get away with that while Using and accepting taxpayer money. That is totally incorrect and should be totally illegal! If they want to be ideologues, then let them raise their own money to spew out their poison! Don’t do it on my dime and on the back of hard-working American taxpayers!
NPR died when Bob Edwards left. One of my customers (a Conservative) and I used to talk about how we liked NPR, but this was in the late 1990s.
Center-left pragmatist, here, and longtime supporter of NPR . . . until a few months ago, when I could no longer ignore just how unhinged it was becoming. Berliner's critique really hit home, and NPR's response has been, um, counterproductive.

lol, I'm 53 and have lived in liberal Connecticut for most of my life, Save about a decade living in Montana. The funny thing is throughout my entire I've never come across anyone that didn't assume that NPR was liberal. I would bet the farm that if one was to do a study of what political party every employee at NPR is registered to it would without a doubt be close to 100% Democrat. This is the problem with people for some odd reason thinking that parties don't change even though they're made up of people who change. I've literally witnessed the Democratic party over the course of a decade become actually worse that what they always accused the Republicans of being. As far as the Legacy Media. After all I learned about that institution shortly after 911, It's mind-blowing that anyone still listens to them at all.

I used to be a big NPR fan. I was an annual donor to my local station, and even included it in my will.
I'm a liberal (NOT progressive) Democrat... and from the south at that. Finally got to the point I just couldn't stomach NPR anymore.
No more will bequest, no more donations, and no more listening to NPR from me.
So any thoughts on how it got subverted and became this? Honestly I feel like this was at it's heart since the 70s having deep researched an ism that drove the party, but would love to see another take.

I stopped listening to NPR years ago. I saw this happening and wasn’t happy. I enjoyed NPR many years ago and was sad to see they went this way.

I was watching this segment waiting for someone to make the point that there should be no propriety information at NPR. Thank God someone did. When so much of their funding comes from the Federal Government every tax payer in America should have access to everything they do and every ounce of information they gather.

Nobody loves spending 3 to 5 hours a day commuting on gov't transportation when a private car takes an hour or less.
I remember listening to Talk of the Nation back in the 90’s. Ray Suarez. Was he liberal? Sure, but it was a great show, leaned left but educational and interesting and Ray was always prepared. Today’s NPR is pure DEI stupidity. Unlistenable now.
I'm going to speculate that she posted stuff like this long before her current position. So, the fact that she is CEO of NPR now demonstrates she most probably will not be removed any time soon.
I listed to NPR for years on my commute to and from work. The thing I liked most about NPR was their production style (calming and professional sounding). As time went on, their stores went from pleasant and bland news and special interest stories to increasingly victim, lefty, progressive propaganda.
We know they’re insane. We need to start advocating for Balkanization.
The sad part is that nothing will happen. Our tax $ will continue to flow to these people. I think it was Gingrich who said that if we can't defund NPR and PBS, what can we defund? I know the $ involved is less than the interest on the debt for the time it took me to write this, but it's the principle.

I used to love NPR, but I stopped listening to them around 2010 because I became disgusted with how Woke they had become. NPR no longer has any credibility. They should not be funded by the taxpayer.
