Wow this is amazing. I recently failed my test 2 minutes before the end of the test because I was running 18 mph on a 30 mph. This video has just gave me a new idea. Thanks 🙏🏾
I’ve come back to leave a comment because I watched so many of your videos! My test was today and I passed with only 1 minor. Although an experienced driver from the states 🇺🇸 relearning and understanding driving in the UK was slightly challenging. Thank you for this content and helping an expat like myself pass 🎉
Oh my god guys you must have read my mind! My test is in a couple of days and this is my big worry! As often when I’m coming off roundabouts I’m looking around, checking mirrors, changing gear, steering, and I miss the damn speed sign. I even took my self off to google maps to look at all my local roads and see where all the speed signs are, so thank you so much this is a huge help!! So yes I think stopping on a zebra crossing well any crossing should be a fine. I’m a wheelchair user and it’s a pain in the bum when people block them, and the drop curbs too it’s super frustrating!!
I wish Barnet was like that! Barnet is all over the place. Every road has different speed limits and neither you can see the sign! I have a test coming up in 2 days and I'm already drenching it by the thought of it that I'll be missing out the speed signs 😥😭😭
She must live under a decent council then. Apparently the estate I lived on for over 20 years was a 20mph limit. The only sign for it was 1km away from my house. They've finally added signs to every entrance to the estate, but there are no repeaters within it. Even the 40mph dual carriageway it's connected to didn't have signs, most access points still don't. On the entire 3km road (it's longer, but changes name after a big junction) there are 3 repeater signs. The first is about 250m in to the road, the next is 750m in to the road, the final one is 2.1km in to the road. There are now signs telling you of speed changes when exiting the dual carriageway, but a lot of them are housing estates at 20mph, so you could easily miss that the road is supposed to be 40.
There's a road near me that this rule doesn't work with ☹ No repeaters at all within the 20 mph section - just ones at the beginning/end of the 20 mph zone.
Thank you Sensible Smart Shannon!!!!! That is a genius hack! I don't tend to block junctions or crossings but I am still a learner, though once I pass I still won't block then because it tends to just inconvenience people. That Toyota is very annoying! Francis don't get one of them. My instructor has got a 19 plate Polo.
@@fitnessfran oh, it's lovely to drive, but the brakes are way too sharp so each lesson I nearly send my instructor through the front windscreen!!!!😂😂😂😂
This is where i think positioning of such signs at road junctions is unfortunate positioning, i think repeater signs are the only answer to solve this (they aren’t installed everywhere), and in my mind will be needed so that cars that can read number plates will pick them up and not set a false reading.
I have been making a concerted effort to observe such signs at junctions but with more critical hazards usually around these junctions i still miss them. Its quite frustrating.
Nice idea, but it's not reliable. eg. Heading south into Distington from the roundabout. 1st repeat unintelligible, council relying too much on the local slug population. At least 13 further poles before a repeater comes into view that is legible. Take care, as mobile units operate here.
Francis, I know you were excited, but it’s difficult to understand what you are talking about. Shannon was explaining something and you just cut her off. Could you do another video and quietly explain about the 6 poles. I’m an oldie preparing for my test. Thanks.
so when I'm pegging 20(GPS) in a 20 zone and people are whipping past me at 30+ dodging around crossing islands as they go, it makes me wonder HOW THE HELL THOSE IDIOTS GOT THEIR LICENCES!?
I do like this rule but unfortunately I'm aware of multiple roads not too far from me where this wouldn't work unfortunately 😞 it would be nice if there was some consistency in how highways actually designed things so it was the same literally everywhere you drove without having to learn 'exceptions' to rules 😢

Shannon didn’t stop at the stop sign/stop line at 10:21, naughty naughty, but brilliant tip, I love the 6 street light method!

Good luck for your test
Omg Stacy good luck with your test! Hope you’re feeling positive and excited about it!! I thought you’d already had it and I instagrammed you lol 😅
good luck u got this
Everyone needs to learn the 6 streetlight trick, it’s pure genius and so helpful! 😀
I had absolutely no idea this even existed! That’s so useful to know!!
Ps - yessss to more Shannon!!
Sensible smart Shannon is the best! ❤
I’m going to test this theory when I’m home… probably another thing up north don’t do very well 😂😂
Thanks for this really helpful tip. I passed my test today and kept this in mind while I was out on the road. Great content.

Tell me about it, Mays Lane is 20mph for a lot of it and there’s v few repeaters
Are you counting the posts on your side of the road only or on both sides?

Wow where are you from??
What about 40/50 roads??
Watch the video
Does this work in ilford/goodmayes?
Actually funny that she one point ran the stop sign without stop in it.
Thats for not to enter the road

What about a 20mph zone when there are no repeating signs
This is so helpful!!!! Thank you 🙏🏽

Ooh how do you find the polo is it fun to drive?
@@fitnessfran oh, it's lovely to drive, but the brakes are way too sharp so each lesson I nearly send my instructor through the front windscreen!!!!😂😂😂😂
My biggest worry for my test tomorrow is an area which is really confusing for 20s and 30s. Maybe you just saved me 😁
Wow this is great! I just passed my test but your videos are going to be so helpful even after passing! Appreciate it ✨
I'm so glad!
10:15 oooooh didn't stop at the Stop sign 👀
I’ve seen this from other UA-camrs also
Yes she definitely didn't stop.

There isn't always repeaters though. There's one road/zone in Birmingham which has a 20 sign but no repeaters.
Sometimes I see other drivers overtake me on a 30 road when am actually driving 30 and I’m thinking are they driving 30 or more?

Unfortunately i failed my test for driving between 25mph and 28mph on 30mph roads and 16mph to 18mph on 20mph roads. I believe examiners are harsh.
My instructor told me I can drive 27mph on a 30mph road and don't get failed
Why would someone fail you for driving 28 on a 30 road,? That’s cruel
Ah it must've been Shannon who drove past me the other day. Blue Mazda on East Hill.
Absolutely stunning
I failed my test last week for going 20 in a 30 zone as I could not see a sign. I only got a few minors too😢 I wish I saw this last week.
We don’t anymore tickets bro, you get fined for breathing in uk
This is a great tip
I still didnt get it.😢
Please, what is her UA-cam channel?

13:15 oops Shannon stopped on a keep clear!
Thank you for the hack!
I hope there will be a hack on how to pass your driving test xD
That’s this one 😉

Aw sorry about that Steph. Maybe try and watch again? We went through it and tested it a few times
Just look at the Tom Tom on the dash has the speed limit on it
so when I'm pegging 20(GPS) in a 20 zone and people are whipping past me at 30+ dodging around crossing islands as they go, it makes me wonder HOW THE HELL THOSE IDIOTS GOT THEIR LICENCES!?
