man that synopsis of the game sure does sound like nier automata
it is VERY similar, but honestly holds its own quite well. A bit easier to understand too imo.

I love what you touched on about painting and line art. I think an added bonus if painting is that you can place the silhouettes confidently knowing you're going to do nultiple passes over that area and allow your minds eye to fill in the blank

Do you ever draw purely from imagination?
I almost never do complete drawings purely from imagination, but nearly every one of my illustrations begins from imagination, and is refined with imagination. I'll then find reference to support my ideas correct them if necessary.

*SPOILERS READ AT YOUR OWN RISK*
The character that represents Lilith is Raven imo. Lilith was iirc, born at the same time or before Adam and is the "first Eve". Raven has EVE in her body suit and in the tips of her hair indicating she was also a Prototype EVE or the og EVE protocol was meant to be carried out by her. She also wants to become one with Adam but in the end has her own motives (seemingly to destroy Mother Sphere and all Andro-Eidos) similarly to Lilith being independent and not wanting to be submissive to Adam. Plus when she's in her Naytiba form; she represents a Fallen Angel (Raven motif) with 4 wings (though most Naytiba that have gold decor also represent some form of holy divinity) and some of her attacks summon black mud which is akin to the Primordial Mud in Mesopotamian Mythos and so on.
