      this makes no sense. if you can recognize you have an advantage then leverage that to get checkmate. every advantage will have its own benefits but if you can recognize that something gives you an advantage then you have concurrently recognized how to use it to get a win.

    Thanks Levy, your chess knowledge made me go from a: "never plays and only does puzzles to a 1500 in puzzles" then I thought i was the shit and played online and sucked and would lose 1 and then win won and then lose 3 and then win 2 and lose elo, win half lose half pretty much. But then I realized its my openings shortcomings and after watching a bunch of your videos, I truly learned a few very well and am slowly but surely climbing. So thanks.

    My biggest issue is that I'm too trigger happy. In that last example at 13:06, I would've blitzed out Nxe6 and tried to create an attack from nothing. I'm pretty good at tactics puzzles because I just go all out attack and that usually works in the puzzle. But it often fails in a real game. Do you have any advice for me Levy?

    What's the difference between a tactic and initiative?
    Also how do you know when to shift between your own plans and full on defence/counter play considerations?

    • @williamhogge5549
      @williamhogge5549 3 роки тому

      Tactics are the names of moves... forks, pins, etc.
      Initiative is the resulting position if its positive for you. Like gaining a tempo in the opening, generally it makes your opponent have to work harder.

    The move at 4:30 :
    What about a3? lol
    Let Black go ahead and take the Knight (and the Initiative for now), moving that Pawn off the g file, then after Knight recaptures, Black doesn't have anything great that I can see. Then Qc3?
    Also a3 prevents Black's Bishop from potentially moving to the b4 square later on. This is probably not as good of a sequence, but it seems fun.
