I agree. The format is exactly the same. The only difference is no Bubba. It's all Rick's ego. And no, it's not funny. It's fake and forced. He has killed his Christian witness as far as I'm concerned.
I have lost all respect for 1819 "News". I have been a fan since the beginning, because I thought you were a conservative news source. I listened to the 2nd half of this episode hours after I listened to the first part. You should have disclosed from the beginning that you actually work for Rick Burgess through The Man Church. This is not a "news" interview. This seems more like an ad for Rick's new show and The Man Church. No wonder you didn't try to get to the truth of what was really going on, and no wonder you weren't interested in information offered to you about what was really going on.
Dang, I didn’t realize he was a shill for Rick. Everything Rick has ever done has been about number 1 and how to get number 1 more money. He’s the titular me-monster.
I hear Rick talk about his recognizing his overeating (gluttony) as a sin. I wonder if that became a stumbling block as Rick continued to get healthier and Bubba began to deal with more health issues. In this interview Rick mentions having more energy and wanting to get out more where it seems Bubba was having less of a desire to be active. I’m just wondering “out loud” and would be interested to hear other thoughts on this.
God speed to both. As much as I hate to not hear the same show in the morning I pray both have success in what they do in business. I'm not a fan as of now of the new show format, doesn't mean I dislike any of the folks on that format - will keep giving it a try for now to see if it grows on me. I hope all who have spent that many years together have remained friends. Neither owe the world an explanation of what happened in their business, would be nice to have Bubba on when he gets his podcast rolling to promote his new business too.
Rick said that for the last 20 years they've had more of a business partnership than a friendship. After how much Bubba and Betty have been hurt by Rick negotiating a contract for his own show with the syndicator behind Bubba's back - which Rick has said happened - I wouldn't count on Bubba ever being on Rick's show for any reason.
@@beckyflack4701 Yes, Rick told people to e-mail if they had questions, and people did. Rick was transparent in e-mails that he negotiated a contract with the syndicator for himself and "anyone he wanted to take with him" to the new show. Bubba's job was in trouble even before that, but he chose not to tell Bubba that. Rick doesn't believe he has sinned in anything that he's done, and that may very well be, but I don't think people have accepted what he did as "okay" the way that it seems he wanted them to accept it As far as an interview on 1819 News goes.....if they were truly interested in news, I think they would have Bubba on to tell what happened, but in this video - toward the middle - it was made known that the interviewer actually works for Rick through The Man Church, so I don't know how likely it is that he will have Bubba on to talk about all of it or even to promote his new podcast. I've heard Rick say twice now that Bubba was fine with all of this. In this interview he said there is no bitterness between he and Bubba. It seems like this might be an attempt to get us all to feel better about it. Let's hear from Bubba. People have e-mailed with Bubba too. He's hurt, and his family is hurt. He was an absolute trooper to sit through the final year of the show every single day knowing he was being left out while the people around him were included and knowing that his business partner of 31 years essentially stabbed him in the back with no heads up.
Was a big fan of R & B. The rat still smells. Disappointed with how 2024 played out. Have lost most of my desire to listen. If it weren’t for Greg & Adler, I’d have no desire to listen. But I am looking forward to Bubba on the Lake!
Rick is a phony Christian, ive seen for years. He charges alot of money for his man church ministry, he is nothing more than a televangelist . He basically kicked bubba to the curve because the budget was getting cut and he didn't want a pay cut, so you take away your partner for 30 years salary and tell your IT guy move on and bump your remaining guys a little to come with you. The show is the same exact show minus bubba and helmsy. Now you have ricks face plastered all over the studio , he is a narcissist if ive ever seen one. Bubba has all my respect for not blasting him this last year and telling the truth. Helmsy just got out and left the show early because he probably couldn't take the condescending last few months.
Congrats on the new adventure Rick and Bubba both. I understand that Bubba wasn’t in agreement with the show ending, but at the end of the day Rick felt it was time. Nothing unethical took place, simply the end of an era, which always comes with growing pains. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Rick Burgess Show best of podcast on the commute home every day.
Do you feel that it was ethical that Rick didn't tell Bubba that the syndicator was considering giving him the boot well before he began negotiating a contract with the syndicator behind Bubba's back? This information is true according to Rick.
Rick should have just kept quiet because it’s pretty obvious that he negotiated for his own interests/separation behind the back of his long time partner and friend. Confessing that he should have done things differently while asking for grace and forgiveness a year later🙄 If Rick is the difference in the A Team and B Team I’ll be looking for another team.
Yea I kinda felt like something wasn’t right when I first heard Rick was doing another show. My boss at work told me his wife is friends with Betty and she was crying upset on how they did bubba and said they didn’t even see it coming. At first I really didn’t want to believe that but after the new show started and it was basically the same show but minus bubba and Helmsley it is kinda obvious. I think that Rick did bubba wrong at this point and tbh I have tried to listen to the new show but find myself listening to something else.
I agree, it does "make sense". But, Rick should have said these things prior to the Rick & Bubba show ending. He misled his audience. I have lost a tremendous amount of respect for him. Add to that, I have talked to Bubba. He is very hurt. And so is Betty. They both were blindsided by this and it just wasn't handled properly in my opinion.
@LunaWolfMXS that is VERY offensive. I actually did talk to Bubba. I wouldn't lie about that. Furthermore, I asked Bubba when he told me that, is that something you're just telling me or would it be public knowledge? His response, was, " if asked I would tell the truth." If you don't believe me, there are ways you can contact Bubba. Do it yourself. I don't appreciate being called a liar.
14:08 I actually enjoyed the format the R&B show had towards the end that was more political leaning. That being said, I also heard a lot of people that wanted the show to go back to a more fun zone format. I may not care for the new direction I still respect the decision and will tune in from time to time.
@Wesley-pb7qk maybe it's more like rick tossed a friend to the curb because he wanted to be 100 percent in control. Either way sad way to do a supposed close friend
The thing about this whole deal that has screwed up a lot of the listeners is that everyone now sees that Rick & Bubba weren’t lifelong best friends who grew up together like everyone in Alabama thought. Nobody is really realizing it yet but the whole state is in a state of shock still and that’s why all these completely wild allegations are just being fired off left and right. Rick & Bubba need to put out a statement, put this thing to bed once and for all, and move on. If it’s just as simple as “we didn’t really jeehaw anymore. Simple as that.” that’s fine just say it. I think in Rick’s mind and everyone else’s at the show, they believe the listeners won’t be happy until Rick goes on the mic and just says something like “yes I’m a complete monster total bad person I stabbed bubba in the back and took it all for myself” but that’s not the case. If that’s what happened fine just tell us! Just tell us what actually went down
Bubba had become alienated from the rest of the cast, he was the odd man out. It was probably along the lines of all the other guys would have an idea or be on board with something and Bubba might not have been or became a drag behind the scenes. I’m not justifying any of this I’m just stating what I believe happened. Of course Rick and them ain’t going to come out and say “why” when the reason was that bubba just didn’t fit in anymore. They can’t say why without raking Bubba over the coals live on air
We support Rick and the new show!!!!!! We lovvveee the new show !! Rick has the god given right to live his life how he wants !!! The hate on this is discusting .
Right!! So Rick HAS to stay at a job that he wasn’t enjoying? He should be able to do just like anyone else. Leave a job. I feel like Bubba got super comfortable and he really didn’t have a whole lot to say in the last few years. Nothing wrong with that. I get it. But, Rick had a different vision for his future. He had to keep himself happy, just like we all do. And that entailed changing things up. Everyone should do like they would do their own friends. Stay out of it. That’s between them!
@@kelleyroy8067 nope he didn't have to stay but he also didn't have to negotiate with syndicated solutions for months behind Bubba's back. This is no different than a couple where one person has moved on, starting an affair and only telling the other one that it is time to move on after they have been caught in the affair.
Per Bubba himself, “Rick decided to end the show. He wants to do the show without a partner. He had the right to do it at the end of our current contract. It was not my decision, and I dis-agree with it. But I will honor my word in giving him the option to end the show, a handshake deal we made 30 years ago. (Even though I'm a 50% partner in Rick and Bubba Inc.) I’m not sick. I didn’t retire. I took the Jax State Job to pay my bills in 2025.” Yeah, sounds like Rick was telling the truth when he said they were able to end it on “our terms.” Bubba didn’t want it to end! It was all Rick’s terms. All Rick, all the time.
I found the explanation of the retirement of R and B show perfectly clear and understandable. If you have ever left a job even if you liked your boss or the other people but simply wanted to do your own thing then this should make perfect sense to you. He didn’t “slight” Bubba any more than I “slighted” any employer when I walked in and gave a notice of resignation. And he gave Bubba a 12 month notice in effect. Employment and partnerships aren’t meant to last forever and if you want to change your situation, then your coworkers or employer shouldn’t hold that against you….so why should anyone hold this against Rick? It seems immature to assume any differently to me.
Do you think it was okay for Rick to negotiate a contract for himself behind Bubba's back? Was it okay for him to know that Bubba was in danger of losing his job before that contract was negotiated yet not say anything to Bubba about it?
I lost a lot of respect for Rick though. He was not completely honest to his audience about the reason the show was ending. I think he was very honest in this podcast, and he should have said these things to his audience before the R&B Show ended.
@@kevincosma7945 I respectfully disagree about him being "very honest" in this podcast. He left out a key detail. Rick said via e-mail - when asked directly - if he gave Bubba a "heads up" that his job was in jeopardy. Rick honestly answered that he did NOT let Bubba know that his job was in trouble. Is this Christian behavior? Did Rick do unto Bubba as he would have had Bubba do unto him? None of is perfect, and Rick calls out those who aren't behaving Biblically. Rick did not behave Biblically in this matter.
Rick also says he is not perfect and there is some things he probably could have done different, for you wanting to judge Rick maybe you should judge yourself,Rick also calls himself out as someone who is not perfect.

@@DennisJohnsonDrummer oh wow didn't know that about the negotiating - didn't mean on Rick's show meant an interview with 1819 show.
I hate when friendships end _ it is especially hard when done in public like this.
Helmsey just got a divorce
@@benjamins7229is that real or something you heard
@@haydenadams1076 Unfortunately it's real. I'm not sure what it had to do with this story, but it's true.
@@DennisJohnsonDrummer you aware of what we talking about
@ Yes. What does Helmsey's divorce have to do with the show ending?
Congrats on the new adventure Rick and Bubba both. I understand that Bubba wasn’t in agreement with the show ending, but at the end of the day Rick felt it was time. Nothing unethical took place, simply the end of an era, which always comes with growing pains. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to the Rick Burgess Show best of podcast on the commute home every day.
I'm

Enjoyed interviewing Rick
I believe I heard Rick say in this interview that you had interviewed Bubba about his new podcast as well? Where can we find that interview?
@ we promoted his new podcast on the 1819 website
@ How about interview him and let him tell what happened from his perspective?
100%agree
Makes so much sense now! Thank y’all! ❤
@@kevincosma7945You liar, you didn’t talk to anyone about it. 😂
@LunaWolfMXS that is VERY offensive. I actually did talk to Bubba. I wouldn't lie about that.
Furthermore, I asked Bubba when he told me that, is that something you're just telling me or would it be public knowledge? His response, was, " if asked I would tell the truth."
If you don't believe me, there are ways you can contact Bubba. Do it yourself. I don't appreciate being called a liar.
@@LunaWolfMXS - he actually is a friend of Bubba. That's all I know.
💯
14:08 I actually enjoyed the format the R&B show had towards the end that was more political leaning. That being said, I also heard a lot of people that wanted the show to go back to a more fun zone format. I may not care for the new direction I still respect the decision and will tune in from time to time.
Rick through away a friend for money
No he didn't what are you his agent?? You know nothing close your trap.
Seems to me he just continued with the guys but booted Bubba out..... ish yuk... i wilk never listen again... yuk
He just told you what happened m no one cares if you don't listen ....why yap about it if you ain't gonna listen ...bye bye
We support Rick and the new show!!!!!! We lovvveee the new show !! Rick has the god given right to live his life how he wants !!! The hate on this is discusting .
Is his negotiating his new solo show behind Bubba's back for months not disgusting to you? Just curious.
(Even though I'm a 50% partner in Rick and Bubba Inc.)
I’m not sick. I didn’t retire. I took the Jax State Job to pay my bills in 2025.”
Yeah, sounds like Rick was telling the truth when he said they were able to end it on “our terms.” Bubba didn’t want it to end! It was all Rick’s terms. All Rick, all the time.
@@fracturedkoi1what are these comments from
So bubba refused to do the 5am??. You didnt say
I bet he wasn't given that option.
@@DennisJohnsonDrummerthe answer is no. It’s such a shame how dishonest this man is
Rick is as great as they come
I lost a lot of respect for Rick though.
@ZacHayes-b7q with all due respect, your reply is very "judgmental"
I think my statement is very accurate. And the majority of people agree with me. You need to talk to Bubba and I think you'll have a different perspective. He is very easy to reach
@@kevincosma7945 with all due respect that comment was not intended for you but the comment under yours. The audience is entitled to content from Rick and Bubba, you are not entitled to every little detail of their life and business agreements.
1819 rocks!
I believe Bubba is a great guy but other than political and scientific stories did not bring much to the table. I started listening in 98 and both of those guys were hilarious. Things change with age and the show had run its course. What Rick said made since about the show having 10-12 segments on some of the most boring topics imaginable every day. I found myself listening to other podcasts. Now with an emphasis on putting fun into the new show I’m all for it. Good luck to Bubba but it’s already been better than the R&B show from the last few years. Did Rick make a mistake in how he handled the split? Sounds like it but if Bubba can forgive him shouldn’t we?
They both (Rick and Bubba) are phony. Having worked for them as the IT guy, I know how they acted away from the Microphone. When an Intern(unpaid) did not properly screen a caller, they would get brutally yelled at. They only wanted callers who did not call them out on their bullshit.
I personally know 18 different former interns and you are full of sh@t

Is this Scott the Tech Guy or Ryan?
As an unpaid intern, they are the guys that they appear to be. They weren’t any harder on us than everyone in the entertainment business is to interns. It was a great experience!
