- The 'Rick and Bubba Show' will end its' run as one of central Alabama's most popular radio shows at the end of 2024. Rick Burgess and Bill 'Bubba' Bussey sat down for a wide-ranging interview with ABC 33/40 to discuss their decision and how the show began.

You have absolutely left me wanting more, Rick. You guys have been a constant in my life since I was 13 way back in 1994 listening to yall on the radio as we drove to Tennessee to visit my grandparents. Whenever we made that trip, we’d listen until we lost radio signal. You guys are like family to so many people in your audience. Truly, radio will become a wasteland filled with cookie cutter sound alike stations without you on the air.

You should think about putting together a book of fun memories and pictures of the show from beginning to end.
These two men and the whole R&B Team have brightened my days for many years. I’m definitely going to miss these guys together every morning. You are always going to get a laugh, learn something, feel better after watching/Listening to them each day. It’s sad to see the show end. I wish it would go on longer but I wish them both the very best because they deserve it! God Bless and Thank you all for making each morning a happier one!

I have been a listener for so long that it was only Rick when I started. My two grown sons are listeners, and my wife thinks your show is crazy. Thank you for all the laughs all these years. Your transparency with your lives has been refreshing. Thank you for your boldness with your faith, and your willingness to speak on behalf of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I watched these guys for a couple of years until they were taken off TV. There was never a dull moment. I loved the lawnmower racing in the parking lot and wound up buying a Hustler when my mower broke down. I also painted my home office “Barn Red” like their studio. Keep the faith and humor rolling.
We had that show syndicated to us here at a local station in south Georgia about 20 years ago and I loved it. It lasted about 3 or 4 years before the station rebranded and dropped it. I will never forget the story of Willie and Wanda. Funniest thing ever. We still talk about it today.

Their voice(as a team) are going to be missed (as Rick says he'll continue broadcasting.) They're not afraid to speak their faith, and their informed takes on topical stories (including politics) in the news was always interesting to hear, and of course, their humor was always appreciated.
Opinions and voices such as theirs seem to be needed now, more than ever (with all of the craziness going on in modern American society.)
I get the feeling that they both are hinting at possible reasons why the show is coming to an end, now. At 9:20, Rick says, " For me personally, I think the industry has changed A LOT, and it's more difficult to do what we do..." And then Bubba says at about 10:22: "We have stayed in it because we could do it the way we wanted to, but those days are changing..."
Hope they have a great send-off as they wind things down, and I wish the best for both of them. And, Bubba (if you see this) if you're determined to be an "over-sized model", then please limit your clothes modeling to outerwear, and further, I would only model fall and winter fashions. Ha !

Rick has become more of a self involved Jerk. He was complaining about people’s phones and etiquette and then miraculously they changed their phone systems and most of the problems went away. He has been rude and cut people off and generally a pretentious and rude jerk. It’s about time he quits.
I’ve loved the Rick and Bubba Show ever since I first stumbled across it as a teenager in Louisville, KY. In my early 20s I moved to a different city that didn’t carry the show and missed it dearly until I found the podcast/broadcast apps carrying the show and have resumed being a faithful listener ever since. I hated to hear the news that the show will be ending and (assuming they couldn’t come to terms for a new contract) hate to see what happens to the network when they try to replace them. They’ve become a staple in my weekly routines and will leave a void that’ll be hard to replace next year.
Heartbroken. You guys are the best. Thank you for who you are, for seeing with the eyes of Jesus, hearing with the ears of Jesus, and loving with the heart of Jesus, every single time. You are a blessing and a "God wink" for us all.
The very last comment by Bubba and how it owned Rick is the embodiment of the greatness of their partnership. The show will be greatly missed.

Please, one last turkey toss!!!! I’m so sad. 25 of my 39 years have included rick and bubba 5 days a week. I trust them- I trust them to give me my daily news highlights from a consistent viewpoint that is increasingly difficult to find broadcasted. They have made me laugh far more than any other source of entertainment! Above all that, They turn my eyes to Jesus and his faithfulness on a daily basis. Encouragement to keep on keeping on- or rather, to “Stay in it!”
I worry that once they’re off air, my young children will no longer hear godly men in media who aren’t ashamed of being masculine, taking a stand for Christ or standing out apart from the world. Thank God for my husband and the local church! I’m thankful for the entertaining way the R& B Show have reinforced what I want my children to learn. I can’t thank them enough. Congrats on a job very well done Rick, Bubba, Speedy, Greg, Adler and Helmsey. ❤ “who’s gonna fill their shoes?”

I love the show and will miss it. I guess 2025 will mean less time on UA-cam, but not looking forward to it. Praying God's blessings on the guys and their families.
You want to really test the market.....say you are retiring but have one more year to watch it absolutely blow up more and more for the show to get picked up again. I love them even more for it and shows how smart they are. Best position they can be in, if they walk away they are in great financial shape and when they get picked up for more $ even better for the team. Can't wait to see what comes of it.

Bubba has said he is going to do other things and Rick has said he was going to continue broadcasting in some form.
There’s a lot more to it… unfortunately.

Bubba said on social media that the show ending wasn't his idea. He isn't retiring. He's looking for a job. He's said that in more than one interview.

I've had to hear this show every morning at work for the past nine years. I can sum it up in one sentence. Ain't it funny how fat and dumb we are? That is the lowest rung on the comedy ladder. I'm so so so glad it's ending. Obviously they had to end it. If it was any kind of quality entertainment, it would have risen to the top. But it's dumb. So goodbye. Don't let the door hitcha where the good lord splitcha.

There seems to be more to it. They mentioned a few months ago companies are going green,and wanting them to sign a green deal contract to get sponsorship and they wasn't going to do it. And then Rick said something's might change in 2024 because it. So you're probably right. Did you hear and see Rick at the end and say we have more listeners than you companies think.

The most likely scenario given Bubba’s cancer scare is that he realized that work isn’t everything. Probably ready to take it easy and enjoy his family.
