The thing I adored about miis is that they all looked so unique! No two miis look alike. When the new characters for Nintendo switch sports were shown, what made me dislike them the most is that they seem like they suffer from same face syndrome and even when customized, eye shape, head shape, mouth shape, etc. Look all the same to me

I feel like the biggest factor is that you can make 1 Mii and play it in dozens of games across years of gameplay, even across multiple consoles (mainly Wii, Wii U, or 3DS games). Basically no other character accomplishes this If people could make 1 character and play it on dozens of PS5 games or dozens of Xbox games, I’m sure they’d grow very attached to that character Countless games let you make your own character, but those characters are usually limited to 1 game, so you aren’t going to grow attached to that character outside of your attachment to the particular game
I haven’t used my Xbox One for a while but they actually did have avatars that could be used in several games- not sure if the newer Xbox has it though.
I'm glad they are a thing, I have a big passion when it comes to avatar making and character customisations and given the opportunity to have them playable in multiple games, especially the Mario games, and make you feel like you're a part of that universe. Having Nintendo doing that and make something that easily represents us as the players is really welcoming.
The way they let us create real people but also gave the opportunity to do the weirdest shit. This is perfect character-design design. If they are counted as some, I'd say, the Miis are in the Top 10 video game characters of all time.
It is honestly pretty sad to see the Miis fading into the background, they have a lot of history attached to them and are especially important to the community. Although I am excited to see what the new Nintendo Switch Sports game has to offer with the new avatars I think is pretty safe to say a lot more people will be using Miis rather than the new models. Though I think it is a bit unfair people won't even give them a chance nostalgia can be a powerful marketing component.
I have been using the same Mii across all Nintendo products since I was a kid in 2007. I've transferred him across every console, and use him in every game. It's almost the default Mii from the Wii with some simple changes, but I can't bring myself to edit it anymore after using it for 14 years across 4 consoles and a smart phone app. Ilovetrain, the Mii I've used countless times over the past 14 years, even as I have many more random Miis I still use him in games with Miis to this day. I can't believe it's been well over half my life at this point I've had that Mii and my Wii. I wonder how many other people have him on their console because of streetpass, I've streetpassed people in multiple countries with him over the past 10 years. Crazy to think about.
In retrospect the switch remake is still technically just the first game, just optimized So yeah i agree with a second game, just with different plotline
I’m extremely happy that Miis exist. I loved Miis ever since their introduction in 2006. They’re one of my favorite Nintendo characters of all time, right up there with Mario and Kirby. It’s such an interesting and iconic Nintendo avatar creator. I wish Nintendo would better understand why we love Mii characters so much and give us more new Mii games (Not just sequels to already existing Mii games) that represent the player they’re based on, but with a classic Mii cartoony charm. I would honestly love to see a sandbox style adventure game that’s similar to either Super Mario Odyssey or Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for Miis, where you can explore sandbox style worlds as your own Mii, with body designs similar to Smash Ultimate but with the outfit configurator from Miitomo. As for Switch Sports, I’m not setting any high expectations for it, especially since the Sportsmates sidelined Miis as the main mascots (Miis are still playable, thank god..) and doesn’t take place on Wuhu Island.
The wii sports series was where the miis started and the upcoming switch sports game feels like a betrayal to them. If Nintendo had just focused only on the miis there wouldn't be any problems.
Loved making Miis, I remember before I had a Wii I found a flash game version of Mii maker and I spent a good few hours messing around in it, plotting out what kinda Mii's I was going to make on the Wii. Great vid dude, brought back a lot of memories
Tomodachi life is such a great use of the miis, it basically understood that feeling when your were playing a wii game like wii sports or wii party and seeing your miis interacting in the background. Seeing your friends, tv characters and celebrities all together doing random things was really funny, and that was the charm Tomodachi life had for me, you could put all the miis and they would actually build a life together.
1:29 that main menu and seeing twilight princess as the preview got me super nostalgic. I got the wii at the midnight launch and man did I play 2 hours of that before passing out. (I was 12 at the time)
When I got my first Wii for Christmas all those years ago, I made 100 Mii's in four days. I miss the Check Mii Out channel so much. It was pretty interesting to see various creations from all over, yes we still have the good ol internet that can pretty much do the same. But I enjoyed that channel very much. Just naming a few of the most popular I saw there were the following. Brock from Pokemon, Peter Griffin from Family Guy, SpongeBob from SpongeBob SquarePants, Harry from Harry Potter and Bart from the Simpsons. Someone out in Canada even made the most accurate looking Wario face I've ever seen.
I did start being a Nintendo Fan when I first got my Wii, and I loved the Mii's, but now they don't even have their own channel on the Switch, how sad when it's a favorite of a lot of people

I still love miis and that may or may not be because I use them every time I play Mario kart I have every game in the original Wii series, have Tomodachi life, have both versions of Miitopia and clearly love miis very much
back when I had a WiiU I absolutely loved to design Miis, the gameplay was just very original and the fact that you could play with a character that looks like you or has a unique design hit hard back then
I wasn’t very good at making Miis but I remember there was a channel on the Wii (I forget the name) that lets you download them and that’s what I did. I downloaded so many of them to liven up all the games I have that featured Miis. It was a great time.
Street Pass is still one of my favorite features of the 3DS. I love to just put my 3DS in my bag whenever I go out in case I run into someone else with a 3DS. And when we do come across each other their Mii will help us out in the mini-games. Honestly wish the Switch had a similar feature as it has a way bigger user base and is much more accessible with it being able to go from handheld to docked
I remember when I was like- 5/6 my mom bought me and my sister a 3ds each for our birthdays- we would go all around the house jumping off of things, running around and shaking it just for the steps. We did it so we could play Find Mii lol. I still miss my ds and I had so many memories on there- If I could get those years back I most definitely would.

I mean we still had better customization in the likes of elder scrolls. It was the simplicity of the customization that made it so enticing.
