I honestly can't thank you enough for making this video. I was torn between 35% and 20% for at least a week now and I must've watched over 100 videos before your video. Your video easily had the best comparison and the best explanation! I live in Canada and more than half of our year its dark and its hard to see even without tints, so there's no way I can go darker than 35% haha. Thank you for the great video!
@@AmericanVsImports I do have a question, do you know what type of tint material the cars in the video have? Is it carbon tint or ceramic tint? Thanks!
Best video I've found on UA-cam for window tint comparison. Looks are one thing but ACTUALLY driving with tint at night is what I'm worried about. Thanks for the different perspectives!
This video was very helpful for sure 👌🏾💯 still a bit torn between 25% or 35% but definitely leaning towards the 35% all around. Great privacy during both day and night. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for uploading this video. This is my first time getting my windows tinted, and I am deciding between 55% and 35%. Everyone says 35% is fine at night, but now I know how dark it is. This video is really helpful!
I have we 20% nano ceramic all around, minus the windshield which has a 15% sun shade and I have no problem seeing out the windows at all. And for the $400 I paid, I better have been able to see out of it lol
I was debating to do 30% or 35%, but from what i see.. driving at night does change alot. i think ill stick to 35 driver/passenger n then 20% all around 😁
Driving at night on well lit roads shouldn't be a problem, it's just on dark roads that dark tint becomes an issue. For this reason I went with 70%, and I'm glad I did.
70% is basically clear glass. At that point just don't wash the dirt off your windows and you'll accomplish the same thing. I don't see the point of paying for tint at that point
@@erwinwayne3129 I got 15 on the back 3 windows and 35 on the front 2 windows. This way I can still see well out my windows while driving but with the black interior and 15 on the back end it makes it seem a little darker than it really is. I wish I had just gone 5 on the back and did the same 35 on the front 2. But 70% is basically useless.
I wish I would have seen this earlier. The only bad thing about this video is you didn't drive down the same roads to show the difference in the exact same situation. Good video though. Thank you
Darkest tint set up I’ve had was %3 front windshield and %35 over %3 all around (%1) and I’d always drive with the windows up, on camera it looks darker then it does in person, I’ve driven with all shades on my cars and the best set up is %20 all around but that’s only if u have a black car so the tint can blend in more but if u have a bright color maximum I’d get is %35 and darker on the rear if it’s legal to avoid tickets, put up a sunshade on the windshield and cut out the shape of ur windows from sunshades and put them up if u want full privacy on the sides
Why does the car community not push to get tint laws changed? The inconsistency of tint laws between different states is ridiculous, what is perfectly legal in one state can be a misdemeanor in another state. You shouldn't have to get a criminal record to keep the inside of your vehicle cooler, reduce exposure to UV rays and make it harder for thieves to see valuables or a potential carjacker to see what you are doing.
It's because it's harder to see out and is more dangerous to everyone on the road. That being said it does have some other benefits of UV rays and thieves , at the cost of possibly killing someone next to you because you didn't see them. Especially motorcycle riders.
I don't know many because i am in nyc with lights all over the place but 35% at night feels like you have no tints honestly. But think there is a difference if you living in a no city area. But 35% in city feels like you have no tints.
Your 35% at night looks way darker than my 15% does. Not sure if it’s just the camera/ angle or what. I also have a high end ceramic film too but i can see out perfectly fine. If I’m out in a rural area with zero streetlights etc and nothing but my headlights. Does get a bit dark ofc but even then not that bad
Absolutely. I had 35% ceramic on my old car and I had no issues even at night. I'm personally trying to see if 22% is a better option for my next car because I'm starting to think 35% is too light.
I used to have 5 all around couldn’t see shit at night which is fine in summer just roll them down but in cold weather 🥶 lol now I have 25 all around still a bit of a challenge but def way more better than 5 percent
Very helpful video! Are you able to see behind you with 35 percent! I have 20 on mine at the moment and I can't see when making turns or going in reverse
@@AmericanVsImports right on man, im about to get mine done soon here in St louis everyone gets wrapped 5% all around even the windshield but most people go to someone not at a shop so I wasn’t sure, I’ve never went to a shop for my other cars but id rather especially if they will go as dark as i want
You guys realize that a good tint job will mean that you can see out of your car while you are in it. If you can hardly see, it’s because the product they used was horrible. Yes, I get that inside a 35% and 5% will look different. But you should really be able to see fine if you use a good tint product
Depends on the lighting inside. Visibility is visibility there's no way around it. If it doesn't let light in your visibility will be impaired to varying degrees. There's no magic tint where this isn't the case and stop pretending there is.

Both the Impreza and Mustang are fitted with 3M™ Automotive Window Film Color Stable Series. I don’t believe this is ceramic or anything like that
Me too lol

I’ve had 20% all around on my cars for 6 years now. I do have ceramic which is more clear than traditional. Never stopped by police either fortunately
Including windshield?
windshield also?

I rock with 5 percent all around with 5 percent brow and 30 percent windshield
I got 20% all around, was thinking of getting my front/rear windshields to 20% as well. But I might pass

Yes in the Northeast rolling down the window isn’t the best option in winter, anything less than 25% is a big issue

Yes I had 35 with no problems at night!
@@AmericanVsImports even in complete darkness? Without street lights?
Was there any factory dye in addition to the tint? 70%, perhaps?
We have an updated video with a tint meter and no tint to show what the factory tint is. Check it out!
What about a 30% tint
Thank you for doing this. No tint for me. I would rather have better visibility than better privacy/heat protection.
I did 20 on the front windows and 50 on windshield. I don't like how dark the 20 is at night and I'm switching them to 35
I found the 35 to be the perfect darkness especially if you drive at night
Woah 20% is so dark
For the 25% visual is the back windshield 25 as well?
Yup, 25% around!
Just not windshield*
25% at night is actually not bad at all and I like how it mutes the bright LEDs behind you and to the side.
thank you very helpful.
Hi, for the 35% tint car. Was it 70% in the front windshield and 35% on the rest around? or was it 35% all around?
The windshield was not tinted on the 35% example- hope that helps!
will a tint shop tint your windows as dark as you want them? Or only as dark as the legal limit??
Tint shops will go as dark as you want as long as they get paid. The tints on the Subaru are technically illegal in CT but they put them on anyways

Is the 35% wind shell tinted??
It is not
