    In the winter I also place them behind the quail cages on shelves. It can get pretty cold. Last year had some 30 below wind chills. Quail are hardy but lose a few in those temps in a shed. Need to insulate with something washable. Styrofoam maybe. I like to get in there with a pressure washer in spring and fall. Never realized they shed so much dander and get some kind of cob webs. Now have a greenhouse vent and fan for summer to blow some of that outside and keeps them cooler. Open doors on good days.

    I don't heat my coup. Had a chicken that slept in a tree, in the freezing rain. They are much heartier than people think. (Chicks are different)
