@@Yousoundvaxxed Awesome! It was one of those things... do I or do I not? haha. I can't say I'm here to help and not share these kind of processes with everyone lol
This was so helpful. I've been having trouble figuring out the right way to clean up my studio backdrop. Do you have a video on how to fix wig hairlines for cosplays? That's also something I struggle with. haha
Hey everyone! Huge thanks to those who of you who came out to see me at the Grand Rapids Comic Con! It was amazing to have a few subs pop in just to introduce themselves and show love. Seriously blessed by you all. Though it was quite busy and I couldn't chat, it meant the world to me to see and meet you in person! Thanks for checking out the latest vid! Make sure to subscribe and click the bell icon so you don't miss part 2! We're going to cover the Lightroom process with finishing touches and a slight grade to push the image further. At the end of the day it's all about going the extra mile when possible, and it doesn't always have to take up a ton of time. It's all about a little extra effort and as an artist, finding a fast way to do so. Really looking forward to sharing the rest of this with you. It's one of those things that I feel can go a long way for those wanting to start shooting cosplay portraits or setting up comic con booths. Shooting is only part of the process, if you want to shock your customers and give back in your own way.... do a little more than the other guy ;) Thanks for the continued support everyone! See you in the next vid!
I know this is an older video, but I have a question regarding your grunge layer. Why did you choose to make a layer mask in the shape of spider man instead of simply putting that grunge later below the sub layer? Is it just an aesthetic to keep the layers cleaner? Or does it actually serve a purpose?
I kept the layer on top in pre planning changes and the rate at which I could do it. With handling 250+ of these in a short timeline it helped to keep the grunge layer on top so if the mask happened to be a bit off in places I could paint it over the subject quickly, hiding the imperfections. This way was super quick to move on with rough masking of the grunge with a feathered brush vs detailed masking on the subject layer. Hope that helps! Was kind of a smarter not harder approach to what would normally be a very tedious and time consuming task.
@@DustinValkema I can see how that would speed things up. I guess in my mind I’m seeing it as the grunge layer under the Spider-Man layer removes that extra step to make the layer mask since spidy would be covering the area since you already had cut him out and placed him over the clean layer. Then would be the same process of needing to clean up lines on spidy if needed. Anyway great work and I learn so much from your videos. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge.
If you're using Photoshop 2020 it has the "object selection tool" set as default, instead of the "magic want tool". To get to the wand tool you can either hold down the tool icon and select magic wand when the tool menu expands, or press SHIFT+W to cycle through the selection tools there.

I can't find the W tool you are speaking of. Where can I find it? I hit W and nothing happened.
