A lot of people have been asking me how I extend backdrops in Photoshop, so here's a full tutorial on how to extend and clean the background in Photoshop.
I teach you how to expand backdrop for studio shoots, even in the most complicated cases, when the model is out of the backdrop, or you're using a complicated multicolor backdrop set in the studio.
The same techniques work for frame expanding, in case you need to prep your vertical pictures for a square crop of Instagram and need to stretch the sides of the image.
I use a combination of stretching techniques, content-aware fill, clone, patch, healing brush and brush tools to make the background bigger and even out the color.

I use Photoshop & Lightroom for my photo editing as a subscription to Adobe Creative Cloud - Photographers plan is only $9.99/month and you always have access to latest version of the software

Graphic tablet I'm using - amzn.to/3gGrKq5 or honestly you can get any inexpensive one, I prefer mine to be big enough (Active Area: 8.5 x 5.4-Inches / 21.6 x 13.7cm), so it's almost A4 paper size

You're more than welcome and great to know that I'm actually helping someone! I sharpen my photos with High Pass overlay technique, but you need to take sharp pictures in camera first 😉 there's so much in editing 😁 but I'll be sharing some tips gradually
@@kseniaprophoto Thank You. look forward to more videos

Great video! I have a small home studio that's quite narrow - only 9ft by 22 ft. So about the same square footage as yours, but not such a great shape. This technique is really going to help me - thank you!
Oh yes it's hard when it's narrow, but hey you can shoot with longer focal length though! Your space is quite long
Wow !!
Thanks for watching!

Thank you for watching! It takes time and practice for sure
@@kseniaprophoto i just trying it on pictures i took of a family with a back drop and got the ends od the wall showing. few trys to make it work...lol didnt know you can do that. wow.
@@kseniaprophoto what other tricks do you know? lol
Yes! I'll open a world of possibilities 😉
very nice video
Thanks!
I learn a lot from you! You are amazing!! CAn you share how to adjust the resolution and measures for ig, Facebook and blogs please , i always got problems to adjusting the resolution for ig
Thank you! I normally just save pictures for web with 72 dpi in Photo shop Image - Image Size, or when exporting from Lightroom look for the size and resolution settings
Another great way to edit this is to photography the background first... That way you have a clean slate you can add to the background without having to extend or clone.
Great tip! Sometimes it's easy to forget to do that though )
What light use your photoshoot ... nice video Expand picture Tips
Godox Flashpoint explore 600 but here I lygtve shot with a simple speedlight - watch my other videos on the channel to see my setup and links to my lights
New subscriber, i love your channel btw. Could you do a video on where you find inspiration when you feel uninspired
Thank you! Oh sure I could go on about way to get ideas and inspiration 😉 I know everyone is down because we can't do much while on lockdown, but it's time to brainstorm and get ready ❤️
Thank you for this tutorial. I now have confidence in my space seeing that it's a little bigger than yours already haha.
See? That's what I like to hear 🤣
love it ! Where your lamp stand ? On the side or in front of a model?
You can see by the shadows on her body that the light comes from camera right - also you'll see more behind the scenes of this photoshoot in this video ua-cam.com/video/xS_EeEE4et4/v-deo.html
very nich
Thanks!
You are a lifesaver! My wife is pregnant and I don’t want to pay for professional photographer since I am a hobbyist myself. I just need to know how to do exactly what you’re doing in this video. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
You're very welcome, glad I could help! Congratulations, hope everything is going well with the pregnancy 🙏
Thanks for all information 💖 Which size is the dress? ☺️
You're welcome! The model is wearing size Small
thank you for all of your tutorials. This one is amazing but when I do this it creates banding in the new background. What am I doing wrong or what can I do to avoid this?
Try a different tool, in some cases clone stamp is the only way to go. Good luck! Also check my website I offer private online training kseniapro.com/private-coaching-for-photographers/
Hey ksenia, can you tell me whats the wide of the paper background behind your model? Kind regards from Austria, Lucia
