i know this is a joke but if you are financially able real therapy is the best thing I've ever decided to do... if anyone is on the fence about it I am pleading you to just give it a try :)
Just between you and me Peter, I'm actually here for your voice. It calms me and puts me to sleep. But I also wanna improve as an artist so this tutorial is very welcome. Thanks!
As an artist, the part where he says about giving yourself "expectations" and such, was a tearjerker. I often find myself giving up after not being able to pull off what I initially had in mind, it breaks me on the inside, that despite creating numerous proud works in the past, theres still that lingering thought in the back of my head like "You are not improving" "that's too tiring to draw" "your style sucks compared to others" "you will not be able to do it", etc. Doodling used to be relaxing, then I realized the talent that I have, suddenly It felt like burden, a challenge, a competition. I sometimes stare at my unfinished work and subconsciously say "that's it?", it changes creativity into overthinking, I think about words instead of lines. I've always believed in my skill but not in my mental capacity, and it relieves me to know that this torment isn't only exclusive to me. Thank you for the video.
Hearing you talking about growing as an artist was very therapeutic, and inspires me to keep creating stuff. -it's better to create, than to always discourage ourselves over how good we're not doing.
dude seriously make more of these. Your essentially bob ross except more personal with the audience. I found my happy place by listening to you talk while i doodle.
I'm sick, and today is my worst day and it's not even 10am 😭 so glad I found this video. I have ADHD and being sick can make me over stimulated that's also been really bad. This video is helping my over stimulated hearing.
Peter, you’ve inspired me to start drawing again. I used to create these abstract style pieces back in high school and haven’t touched the art form in 20 years. Thanks for re-awakening the visual artist within!
I’ve been subscribed to you for at least 1year and I can’t believe I haven’t been watching your videos more often. This is so soothing and i love that u sound so carefree.
I can’t really draw, but I have a hard time falling asleep at night and suffer from really bad insomnia. Your videos really help relax my mind and help me wind down. All of my anxiety and thoughts that keep me up at night just melt away. Thank you Peter :)
These are my favourite kinds of video you do! They bring me such joy, I could watch your swirls and listen to your voice for hours. I also love to draw along with you, you're a wonderful source of inspiration.
I used to watch your videos a few years ago and have recently found my way back to your channel. I've missed your drawings, wandering lines, and speech. Yay
I think one of the thing that draw me most toward peter is his personallity, making everything about having a suiting and relaxing experience, reminding him and others that when expectations are too high, just stop and relax, and make it simple, reminding that art is good to be enjoyable to do in the process, it's just relaxing and suiting to hear actually hahaha. I feel like listening to a turtle, going steady forward and reminding ''all is well'' and ''one step forward, don't think of the next, it'll be there when it'll be time for it''. :)
I loved this. I haven’t picked up a pen or paintbrush for months. It was so soothing drawing lines while I listened to your commentary. Thank you so much, regards Sue
What you said about what's the point of creating if you dont enjoy it...man. that's something that's taken me a long time to learn. I was doing commission work constantly and it just...sucked any joy out of it for me. Everything had to be perfect because I was being paid and... idk. It made me realize I don't want a career in art. I'm in school now for marine biology and drawing just for myself and I'm a lot happier. I hope other artists struggling with stuff like that listen to your advice. Because its solid.
I have also slowed down on the art to study marine biology! I still love it but it is definetly too much to make a living from. Art should never be forced, so i chose science instead
12:21 That is a great quote! Words of wisdom! I'm gonna try and work like that. I've been experiencing exactly what you said lately crafting musical instruments and I really think I needed to hear that, thank you Peter!
Dear Peter, I love your art and I’ve taken so much inspiration from your drawings and methods I hope you never stop and keep expanding your knowledge and techniques you’re art is really unique in the awesome way!
These videos really calm me down and take a lot of the anxiety away from my day and I really appreciate them and it’s like I’m talking to a friend thank you Peter I really cherish your videos
I love your videos, your style, your voice.. it helps me with my anxiety. Your drawing is amazing, but drawing at the same time as you do is better and motivating! I really love this channel (Sorry for my English)
I love this kind of video! Really calms me down. I've been struggling with anxiety and found this very theraputic. Just discovered your channel and your art is lovely
You seem like a chill person, it’s also really cool to know the one style of art I’m decent at can look professional if I put in the time. (Anyone wondering I mean the straight lines and having a somewhat direction, not all abstract looks good but someone like him makes anything look beautiful)
Thank you... finally someone said it "everyone telling you you should make tattoos like its just the same as drawing" 4 real its a whole different thing and everyone just comes up with this smartass "advice" like i never tought about it
Sometimes I feel like art is just trying to make a bunch of lines that look good to combat the ones that look bad on the same piece of paper, canvas, saw-blade, etc. As if there's a small war going on in the piece that is trying to draw the viewers eyes onto the successful lines rather than that one line you made that was ever-so-slightly to thick on it.
Thanks Petter I wanted to hear you though process while you doodle, this is very interesting and helpful.. I love it when you do those doodle time-lapses and talk about oranges but this is actually more practical useful :)
I've been wanting to improve on these sorts of doodles for a while, and being able to watch you take it one line at a time is really helpful. Thanks for the inspiration, Peter :)
I can relate to your inspiration from smoke plumes. I was always like that too when I was a kid. Also, I like the shapes of water jugs and vases. Thanks for the inspiring vid! ❤️
When you scratched the notch on the paper in the beginning, your finger was right on a piece of dust on my screen so thanks for pointing that out for me. 😂
I think these live commentary videos are really cool in that I feel more tapped into the rationale behind your 'line-decisions.' It was refreshing to hear too that it doesn't always turn out like you imagined, which is easy to lose sight of sometimes in my own work. Can't wait for the next one! Edit: also some of the things you talked about happened to resonate with some thought s I've been having lately so, thanks.
doodling is great, even better when you doodle a whole page over a number of different days so you can see the different styles you produce in one piece due to how your feeling.
I love mist and clouds, any vapourous , fire or water beauty leaves me so inspired to reproduce it. I use paint but I have used pencils for sketching, I like the subtle effect of grey pencil.
Hey It's Winamuck. As always I enjoy your work. Haven't been able to catch your Twitch casts but happy to see your new U-tube video's. Thanks for your kindness contribution to the world.

Jacob Carrico aren’t we all. His voice is so calming and he always finds interesting/inspiring things to talk about
i know this is a joke but if you are financially able real therapy is the best thing I've ever decided to do... if anyone is on the fence about it I am pleading you to just give it a try :)
Desmond Pfeffer this is very true and amazing advice! Thank you for putting it out there

THANKS, YOU PUT IN WORDS WHAT I FEEL!
That was great to read, as he was talking about it. It is how I feel, but couldn’t put it into words.
Exactly what I was thinking
Id like to see this guy decorate a guitar
Or an entire fridge or something haha
Check out Peter's videos on drawing on walls and floors, a whole bathroom area. Pretty sure in the last year.
How about an entire public restroom !

i love his art. no end goal. no ideas in mind. just whatever he wants. there are no mistakes, just happy accidents
30:26 “I’m doing too much of this little dots everywhere?? ... it’s a rhetorical question I don’t actually care what you think” best part hahaha
Great life philosophy

I'm having a really rough week and it's only Tuesday. Peter Draws voice is an amazing balm for troubled times.
Drawing at the same time as Peter is always my favourite part of my day.
Draw. A more artfulness
a cup of coffee, a rainy weather and this
I'm sick, and today is my worst day and it's not even 10am 😭 so glad I found this video. I have ADHD and being sick can make me over stimulated that's also been really bad. This video is helping my over stimulated hearing.
I have never been interested in art, but watching Peter's videos over the past couple months has made me appreciate art for the first time. I love it.
Oh I had forgotten how amazing it feels to listen and watch these videos!
"It's all fine and dandy."
It sure is Peter, it sure is
Hey ho here we go!
Not only I get inspired by your drawing, sometimes I don't even look at the video and still your creative ramblings keeps me going on drawing. 😎👍
Peter, you’ve inspired me to start drawing again. I used to create these abstract style pieces back in high school and haven’t touched the art form in 20 years. Thanks for re-awakening the visual artist within!

your art is truly one of a kind dont ever think you need to switch up your style. it is beautiful.
He is basically the bob ross of drawing. So relaxing and kind of visual poetry.
I love watching Peter when I draw, his art is amazing and he always inspires me to draw just because
I loved this. I haven’t picked up a pen or paintbrush for months. It was so soothing drawing lines while I listened to your commentary. Thank you so much, regards Sue
Please do book reviews, oh my God that would be so cool. Just you drawing in the background while you talk about books would be so nice.

That Posca is working better than I would have anticipated! I feel like I'd like to have a go with one of those!
You can get them in many colours too. They're water-based and come in fine point and fat.
Yeah, it looks nice and crisp and really black.
"Someone knows. Wikipedia probably knows. Wikipedia probably eye, ear, nose, and throats." 😭💀

It's a rhetorical question I don't really care what you think... He says with sincerity and a pure heart

This was very enjoyable. I liked seeing it not sped up, and I liked the commentary. I'd like to see more vids about art books from your collection.

The Bob Ross of 2019. I love your videos, Peter. They're so calming...
I love your videos, your style, your voice.. it helps me with my anxiety. Your drawing is amazing, but drawing at the same time as you do is better and motivating! I really love this channel

I never thought watching someone drew while talking is very relaxing
Thank you... finally someone said it "everyone telling you you should make tattoos like its just the same as drawing" 4 real its a whole different thing and everyone just comes up with this smartass "advice" like i never tought about it
Peter I would really like to see what you can do with a brush pen. I recommend a Pentel brush pen if you ever considered doing it.
It was nice having someone to sketch with :)
Speaking of Steinbeck, I went to Salinas, CA, 2019, and saw his museum. Also toured the house he grew up in!
