I just want to say thank you very much for all the packages with the kooky crazy stuff in them, and the letter with the thoughtful, insightful, and heartfelt things written in them. Even when they are in cursive sometimes, I still figure them out and my life is always better for it. So yes thank you for that, and thank YOU for being here, watching, waiting, commiserating. You're all great :)
I pause the video and read the cursive she's basically just thanking you and saying that you should have been a poet because you have a way with words she just had a really long drawn-out way of saying it
Yay you got my package!! Ugh I’m sorry the metal zipper one is so fiddly...I put a few drops of oil in it but it didn’t help that much. I hope you still enjoy doodling on them sometime 😊
Yes, wow, thank you so much for the handmade bags and the markers Carolina! They're great and it was very generous of you to send those. Don't worry about the zipper, I'm sure it's all in the wrist technique, I'll watch a youtube tutorial on it or something. Thanks again! :)
Peter Draws you’re very welcome. I think if you can commit to always open the zipper only 2/3 of the way you’ll be golden. Maybe I’ll make that my next tutorial! 😄
I love your vibes. I also love your videos' vibe. Especially in 2023, where every video on yt is modernized, everything looks clean, great lighting etc. But this, homemade, spontaneous, no crazy graphics n editing, just a guy with some cameras having fun (i hope you are having fun) doing his thing, feels very chill and calm. This is the type of video that I don't mind spending my time to watch fully until the end.
Hey Peter, here's an idea: why don't you just put an audio track explaining over what you're drawing but the screen is black, and we draw along what we think you're drawing, can help those with artist block to just let their mind wander with you helping
You could always start a video of Peter's and minimize the window, or place your phone face down, and fulfill your request. Maybe put on a content free podcast and be guided as Peter regales you with tales of coffee pot microbiomes and other meandering musings.
This brings back so many memories. When we first moved into our house we had about 5 old geese. I would always find old feathers and cut a tip for drawing. I didn't have fancy inks like you so I found a way to make really terrible blue dye. 😊😊😊 Definitely brings back memories.
That's cool! Never seen anyone draw with a quill before. For me the coolest thing about quills is the connection to 1000+ years of history; as a practical tool, though... well I suppose there's a reason my local stationery store doesn't carry 'em.
Peach, plum, parsnip and paisley. Have to go shopping and buy me some of those! Love the way the nib splays and makes double lines occasionally. I was in your stream when that big blob happened, fun to watch actually.

Hey Peter, I just wanted to tell you that you inspire me a whole bunch... And its inspiration in the weirdest ways-- Just inspiration in getting me to go forth and try new things I wouldn't have before. Awhile ago I watches a video where you had genuinely used real Dip Pens, and they looked so cool that I actually went out and invested in a couple packs and seperate nibs, plus some ink. Long stroy short, I absolutely adore them now, considering they work just the same as a typical ballpoint pen when it comes to inking... Plus, ink itself can be watered down to work as watercolors, or applied heavily to give off an effect like saturated markers usually do. :b Its easy to say I've retired my Copics and Micron Pens, as ive bought more ink and made many peices trying out new techniques-- And none of it would have happened if I hadn't clicked on your video. :•) All this mushy inspiration stuff kind of came about after seeing you open up the parchment paper, and the front cover advertized usage with dip pens, and It reminded me that I never said thank you for taking me to the next stage of my artistic carreer... And then- you know -you opened up the packet, and all those beautiful muted shades popped out... And youve inspired me once more to try something new. (( in other words, Im getting that next-- )) Thank you!!!
Peter!!! They finally took your knives away huh? ;) did they atleast give you the plastic ones? They let you use scissors though still. Very niiice. ;) i love your drawwings and voice. Did it smell good? I reference your smelling art supplies video alot when talking about YT. Good stuff. Keep being you. :)
I really love the fluid-like structure of your style, not to mention those lol shading lines. I feel like I'm watching some dead dude from the 13th century draw..... truly awesome
i just git my own quill and ink! i havemt quite mastered the art of calligraphy yet, but i'll get there. the quill is black with a fine nib and the ink is a gorgeous rich blue. im so happy i got it!
Hi Peter, I just came across you're videos last week. I've loved watching you, your witty personality is fun & funny to watch and listen to! You're very inspiring! I'll be watching you!!!
Feather pens are supposed to be used on a surface with a 45 degree or so slant, so that you are holding the pen nearly parallel to the floor when you use it. That keeps more ink in the pen and less on the paper, so that the writing/drawing dries quicker, and you can write/draw more with one dip.
The problem I have with my curly hair is how it gets really frizzy and not curly if it gets too dry and it like splits down the middle of it gets frizzy
Hey Peter! Thank you. I finally got some inspiration to make some lines on paper other than work-words. Your drawing is beautiful, but my drawing is mine, and I feel good about it. I think I'll take out some more of my pens. Thanks for showing me the way!
Peter I like a lot of the pics I have seen and it looks like you are coming into your own style with a lot of the drawings . Keep up the good work . Lol, yeah them drops kind of happen , tap it once or twice like a paint brush
Nah, dip pens aren’t supposed to drip. That’s why we don’t use quills anymore. The *metal* Zebra G Comic nib is really fun for illustrations. You can get _really_ fine lines with it, and reasonably impressive line weight variation with minimal pressure. Grab a box and an oblique pen holder (Speedball makes a decent cheapie). You want the *oblique pen holder* to help prevent uneven pressure on the tines. You don’t want to waste your hard earned money busting up nibs with the wrong type of nib holder. I really do hope to see you use them one day. They can be a lot of fun and open up a whole new world of art supplies at the art store! Namely inks in all the colors of the rainbow, and then some - like neons, metallics, pearlescents, iridescents... cool stuff.
Also I just remembered that one reason why I never used my dip pen nibs again was when I went back to them in a few months, they were all rusty! I think they were the speedball ones, did I store them wrong, do they all do that? What's up?
Peter Draws you might have stored them in a most environment :'( Also when you get new metal nibs grab a lighter and torch the end of it till you see a S L I G H T color change :) the factories put a coating on them so it's much much smoother when you torch it! I hope this helps!
Hello Peter Draws, looks like your quill has given a greater 3D depth to your work here, each line width getting wider or thinner. So nice and maybe tougher to get this from technical pens or rigid nibs, etc. Looking at the whole pic at once, accidents became accents. Closeup of a venomous flea maybe?
I shake a drop out of it after I dip it in an aggressive pointing motion towards the inkwell and that takes care of the dripping problem for me. But yes I have had a few drips ruin pieces.
I love the quality of the lines from the quill even if its imperfect (and caused some happy accidents), it has a very old timey encyclopedic illustration feel to it.
