What a great car. I love the color and especially the whole front end FX. I miss all our 80s 900s. Wonderful cars. So many memories I have of them. Our favorite SAAB was the 1979 99 Turbo. (4 dr with Hatch). 4 speed manual. Tons of turbo lag! ha! But the whine of that Turbo and how that car handled was so enjoyable.

@@AutoAutopsyquestion. What transmission is he using? The new bm0055 I think it is or the older 5-speed fm50 it may be. Not sure of the actual part# but I think they’re close. The newer trans is supposed to be heavier duty. The old trans seems to blow gear with that mush power. Just curious.
I clicked for the forged BBS RS-GT wheels. A conservative yet respectable choice of BBS wheels. But I stayed for the build. It looks great, and has the power to back it up. Now if it gets to see significant track use, it might need some better brake pads.

Not to mention 3 people in the car add about 400 lbs so it could be faster, trying to make a saab race car, with gutted interior lightweight seat, it’s basically naked inside, got rid of all AC parts, taken about 600+ pounds off the car also with no AC compressor had to get a smaller belt added a bit of power there, 2003 saab 9-3 arc manual 👍

Hey! My ‘06 Aero has a bit of an engine shake mostly only when idling in Drive. When I put it in neutral, the shake goes away for the most part, and it also goes away the second I give it any gas. Suggestions?
2.8t over 2.3t. I've had both. Tuned both, big turbo on the 9-5, the 9-3 is an easier platform to make power on. Loved all 4 of my 9-5s though, but couldn't buy the big turbo with what it cost to get to ~ 400hp/500ft lb on my 9-3. Not to mention no custom work because you only need a gutted stock turbo rebuilt to your spec, tune, injectors and cooler plugs. The trump for me however, all wheel drive with a manual transmission. My big turbo set up on my 9-5s all had horrible torque steer. So much so, my tuner and I started limiting max torque in the first two gears. Hope this helps. Both will be fun with enhancements. I like the look of the 9-5 more than the 9-3. But I'm tuning on a budget these days.
@@sspoolin if money is an issue, it is cheaper to make power out of the 2.8t without blowing the bank. The cost of VTuner stage 2 kit rated at 390hp, 425 ft-lb is about $2799 (last I checked). That includes turbo, tune, and injectors. A couple other misc. things. Everything bolts up, the turbo is gutted and rebuilt, but same placement. So if you're handy with a wrench it saves the money for installation. If money is plentiful, then you can't go wrong. There are people all over doing big turbo kits for both engines. At that point, pick the best car (condition) and go for it. The 2.0 will be a dog down low in comparison.

I have a 9-3 Biopower SC -08 B207E with 330hp and it´s hard to get the power to the ground with soft tires on second gear, so how is it with 500hp++ ;) Nordic tuning have a 9-5 with almost 700hp, it´s just sick ;) And by the way you don´t need a big intercooler in Sweden because of the cold air, it´s just in the hotest days of the summer time you need it ;)

The limit for the pistons is around 360hp but some guys in Sweden have driven a long time with a 19T and 360hp, anyway thats´why i set my tuning in the safezone ;) My Saab is a Biopower model and it runs best with E85 and lowers the output with gas, premium or regular to 280-300hp depending on octane. My car have been "Mackanized" He really knows his stuff and is one of the best in Sweden!
I got a 95 aero im just starting now engine swapping it from a inline 4 2.3L turbo to a v6 3.0L turbo eventually ima hook up a big turbo thatlle bring my car from 250 hp stock to 500 hp
I hate to break it to you, but that’s not really a good idea. The B235 is a far more reliable and better motor to build…there’s a reason Saab ditched the 3.0 V6 in the 9-5!

Unless you get an F40 6 speed in there (like Tallferro. I recommend looking into it), you've got to really baby 1st and 2nd gear to keep from breaking it. Wheel spin is especially rough on stock transmissions.

@@Aube installing t5 valve guides and valves into a t7 head because they have thicker stems better for stiffer valve springs.
BBS actually collaborated with Saab back in the 90's. Funny to see this video and this is a completed street car of Saab. Cool on this level!

The genuine Saab shifter isn't actually a short shifter, it just cuts down the shaft without shortening the throw.

It's an 04-05 aero bumper with a Turbo X custom lip underneath. You'd have to find a used bumper which may be hard in good condition

Install the SAAB 9000 oil thermostat and install oil cooler with a minimum capacity of 0.5 liters (DIY). Engine oil 10W60 only.
