    Updates:
    Elemental Surge D -> F explanation: ua-cam.com/video/lCfVq7B8vpE/v-deo.html Update on the update: Actually I was wrong and the Surge does not explode from your character, but from a random enemy in range 10, so it's... fine

    Had some time to watch it, so I gonna write more about picks I don't agree with:
    08:55 - Cauterize - Though I do think it's overrated, I wouldn't put in F-tier. It's true that you can avoid getting bodied by getting enough defensive stats, but IMO Cauterize allows you to not care as much about them and play more risky, like focusing more on damage stats instead. You'd still need a specific build with some escape/heal options to make use of Cauterize, but there are definitely some classes that can do it, e.g. Zerker/Marauder with Unstoppable (allows you to delay it until literally the last moment), Archmage/AB' with teleports/shields/crit arcane reconstruction, Alch with some regen/stormshields/bloodstone healing etc. I've only picked it a couple of times in my playthrough, but I always felt a lot more comfortable knowing that I had this extra layer in case I fck up/get ambushed.
    14:52 - Draconic Body - There are things that definitely make Draconic body (DB) worse than Cauterize. Besides the "be close to dragons" requirements, you'd need to have a decent HP pool and heal mod to make it not suck + there are plenty of things that reduce your healing or block it completely, while Caut will always work and is usable even on squishy chars to begin with.
    23:51 - Fungal Blood - This thing definitely deserves lower C-tier at least. The heal is affected by your heal mod, so it's not insignificant, and it still works with Ancestral Life, IIRC it's just not really OP. And although magic debuffs are not too common, there are still some extremely nasty bastards among them like curse of defenslessness (irresistable and makes you vulnerable to everything else), curse of death (fck's you up if you are relying on fungus regen), impending doom, burning hex, etc. It's particularly relevant to AM chars since debuff clears are hard to come by.
    24:32 - Garkul's Revenge - On its own, it's indeed trash + it's hard to get reliably. BUT there is one tiny itty-bitty detail that should land it into D-tier at least: AAD is a construct too and it's affected by it. Do what you will with that info
    26:50 - I Can Carry the World - deserves A-tier instead of Superpower IMO. Unlike Arcan Might and Superpower, ICCW is an immediate boost to your damage, and you would need to pump you WIll/Mag quite hard for them to compare on pure str weapon users (100 Mag/125 will for 100% str one-handers, 120 Mag/150 Will for 120% str two-handers). AM has crit goint for it, but If given choice at lvl 25 between Superpower and ICCW on a non-mindstar cursed or wyrmic, I would definitely go for ICCW. Also, the No Fatigue part is really nice on Stone Wardes.
    32:43 - Never Stop Running - it's pretty niche, but it seemed to work really well on my Ghoul Zerker. You get 3 separate skills that give you stamina (Relentless Fury, Battle Shout, Second Wind), and you have no access to movement infusions. This + Ghoul Leap pretty much cover all your movement needs for the rest of the game and leave you free to get some other runes like acid wave/biting gale/stormshields etc. Also, while Giant Leap may be a better skill overall, it's pretty useless in small corridors with lots of twists and turns since you can't jump through walls, meanwhile NSR allows you to make all the turns you want and escape into a zig-zag tunnel you dug out.
    43:22 - Through The Crowd - never played with it, but it seems plenty of summoners pick it. The part about no friendly fire is quite relevant for them since IIRC some summoners' minions can damage each other and the summoner, and saves shouldn't be underestimated IMO. Moreover, fast switching places is kinda like a bootleg movement infusion, especially if you have a lot of things summoned at once + you can switch places even when pinned.

    • @ariholahan9631
      @ariholahan9631 Рік тому +8

      +1 To the Through The Crowd comment, as I have played quite a bit of summoner. Your minions (like dragon and hydra) refuse to use their hard-hitting aoe attacks if it would hit you or ANY of your summons (even something shitty like a jelly), so TTC ends up being a MASSIVE damage boost. Now your minions are constantly using their attacks since they can't hit each other, instead of just spending their turns moving since a friendly might get hit by their breath. The prodigy is insanely beneficial to summoner, but probably not to any other class.

  • @Djicheg
    @Djicheg Рік тому +6

    I made two arcane blade winners thanks to your guide (only on nightmare) and took AAD the 2nd time. At least for arcane blade its S+ tier. It allows you to have a second element (other than lightning), it can block, you can extend your aoe range and attack across corners. All on a very short cooldown and hits like a truck (as someone in comments mentioned in the ab video, it has 0 defenses for the accuracy stacking). Best 1st prodigy in that case imho.
    For windtouched speed it seems possible to get it on any non undead character without going antimagic (at least with item vault) as long as you have access to 2x Eyal's Will: that will give 6 talent levels, you will need to then have a 1 cat point available and 1 generic point. Refund your last three generics, select harmony stuff with 4 points, get the prodigy and then refund the 4 points + cat point.

  • @zenavathar6618
    @zenavathar6618 Рік тому +11

    First off nice video. Agree with most of what you put (within a margin of up or down a tier). Only one that really stands out to me as in the wrong spot is revisionist history. Yes you only get one branch, but unlike the generic talent it has no limit on uses per zone. It is tedious as heck if used to its full potential, but you can also use it every fight which can nearly ensure you never die essentially. This is also not counting cheese you can do with the fonts tome and getting extra prodigies, but that is neither here nor there. I’d probably say it deserves S tier due to how strong it is but I’d be fine seeing it as low as C tier due to tedium. Really nice list though especially to help anyone who may be just getting into the game. Cheers

    The D and F tier ones could use some changes so that there's more variety but I think the C tier ones are in a good spot cause mostly dependent on your build. The class prodigies are a really cool idea and I hope some more are coming!

      I think even if it did zero damage, I'd still consider it awful.

    By the way, what do you think about synergy Newer Stop Running + Hidden Resources? Infinite time dillation for 5 (?) turn is pretty OP.

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  9 місяців тому +1

      That's a funny combo, I never thought about it. I assume while Hidden Resources is active, it just lets you move instantly forever?
      I see it being useful for two things, It would let you scout the whole map, before fighting a single enemy, but Track more or less already does that.
      You could also always 100% safely run away, but Movement Infusion more or less also does that.
      It would be cool, if it worked with some artifact item, I thought of Cinderfeet - te4.org/wiki/Cinderfeet but I highly doubt the ground effect stacks.

    I have won the game with an arcane blade recently based on elemental surge.

    Is it a good idea to collect +stat gear for prodigies (that require stats one doesn't level) on Normal difficulty? I remember reading somewhere that you can get enough of those only on Insane

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  7 місяців тому

      I think so. I've personally not tested it, but I've had comments from people saying they did.
      It will definitely take longer, so you likely won't have enough +stat gear at lvl 25.
      Some characters might be able to afford to delay taking the first prodigy, but it's simpler to just aim to save up +stat gear for lvl 42.
      I'd be surprised, if you didn't have enough at that point (don't forget to check shops for the last few stat points).

    Elemental Surge is very good on classes that naturally do a lot of different types of damage. Psyshot for an example, naturally do Physical with their 'baseline' shots (and crowd control), Nature with their mindstar, Fire and Lightning with their AoEs, and depending on your tinkers you can easily add some Lightning or Arcane or Cold to it as well (not at lot, but enough to trigger Surge reasonly quick)

    for the archmage class evolution prodigies, I think technomancer is extremely good and much better than thaumaturge. Beam spells are useful and the mobility is decent, but unlocking a steamtech tree for free and occult technomancy makes an arcane-focused archmage into an absolute easy win.

    Main problem in C-F talents not is that is a niche build talents, but their overall weakness compared to universal A-B tiers. For example, I have minion focused lich necromancer with blighted summoner (nightmare difficulty) and even in such niche it seems that etheral form would be better. There are bunch of talents with interesting idea like You shall be my weapon, and I want to build giant ogre with his dual weapons, but I Can Carry The World seems to be stronger on that char.

  • @donilock1930

    I don't have time to watch the whole thing right now, so I looked at the final result. I think I more or less agree with it, but there are definitely picks that seem flat out wrong.
    Like, how do you put METEORIC CRASH in the same tier with useless things like Lucky Day?
    It's a big dmg boost at lvl 25. You'll be able to one-shot (or almost one-shot) a whole lot of enemies at that level, and even when things live, the lava ground can finish them off.
    The stun part may not be too relevant, but that's cuz things will be mostly dead. Because of it, the cooldown also isn't a big issue since you just rest for a bit and go one-shot something else.
    Then there is the whole second part of the prodigy you literally missed, i.e. automatically setting your fire dmg and fire pen to your highest dmg and pen respectively. Not only does it always keep the meteor's damage relevant, but it also helps a lot with late-game itemization if you deal other damage besides fire. Like, I had an Alch that spec into lightning for stormbringer procs, but because of Meteor I also had pretty strong Prismatic Eye fire procs + powerful firestorm. Also had some fun Wyrmic and AB builds with it.
    Granted, it may not be the most optimal option, but it's nowhere near the F-tier.
    But at least Eternal Guard gets some respect, which is nice.

    • @Drybe
      @Drybe  Рік тому +3

      I speculated about the increased fire dmg/pen part, but cut it out in editing, because I thought it's probably just written in a weird way and it only increases the damage of the meteor/lava(maybe "applies to all fire damage you deal" should've tipped me off). So I assume the effect lasts for 8 turns?
      I still really dislike the fact, that you can't control where it falls, but I suspected Meteoric Crash could be one of the prodigies, that are better than I thought.
      I'll try it out, when I get a chance.

    • @donilock1930
      @donilock1930 Рік тому

      @@Drybe I don't really get the part about "controlling where it falls.' It falls on the enemy you hit with your spell/mindpower when it's off colldown. It's tricky to controll when you have autohit sustains like Alch, but on Wyrmic/AB I could just smack the thing I want dead and the meteor would fall right on it. I guess it can also be a problem with large AoE and enemies standing far apart from each other, but such situations aren't too common in my experience.

    • @donilock1930
      @donilock1930 Рік тому

    I can carry the world is better than Arcane Might on classes like berserker (because you get 120% from Str on your weapon and you don't need to sacrifice other secondary stats). I think you underrate it a bit. Browsing roguelike insane Bulwark winners on the vault, almost all of them took ICCTW while eternal guard was picked by only about 10% of them.
    By the way I tested Legacy on the Naloren against Flexible Combat on two berserkers (after winning the game with both). The Flexible Combat berserker was using the Murdering Blade and Dakthun's Gauntlets. I compared their bump damage on a dummy, using the vault to make sure all other equipment was the same. Result: bump damage was about equal over 1000 turns. However, that means Legacy of the Naloren is actually better when you're using weapon skills.. of course it is also harder to get, but it looks like the payoff is there.
