This game is about to blow up in 2024. I remember playing this years ago with my friends. Crazy how much content they've added and how much the game has changed, while still maintaining it's core identity.
For sure, the new UI is a GAMECHANGER too, it was really hard for me to get into the game because although I did understand what was going on I couldn't dare to put in the effort, and with many more guides available now it's much easier to get into.
For future reference, you can burn up the cursed staves to raise your magic skill. They do get stuck to you once you wield them, but they get unequipped once they break. Just spam away!
I've got Sheridan added on steam, he's a really cool guy who when I first got the game and was struggling, after mentioning in the community forums, he shot me an add and played with me to teach me some things! 20/10 would recommend.
Thank you for very quickly explaining mechanics as you run past things. I think this is the first video of you that I've seen and this is really nice. A lot of people would just scream "Omg Minotaur" and start rushing through all enthusiastic but not actually explaining anything about the game other than what's apparent
I remember the first time I entered the „gnome zone“ and I was really scared but luckily I had a magic reflection amulet which helped me survive the worst down there
Oh wow they UI and inventory looks so good now. I had so much fun wit this game like 3 years ago, i guess its finally time to get back! Thanks again for the updatw video. Its so harf to keep track of all the indie games and their uodate cycles. Your a true blessing my dude!
The game needs more exposure. I have been playing it recently as well and man there were lots of changes compared to early version. Also it's crazy how few people actually did any achievements. 1.2% escaped Citadel as Succubus. Jesus..
tip for anyone play a Human Wanderer they have many skills to help survival and will make getting used to mechanics easier. Focus on hitting mobs and then backing up to avoid their hits and you can also block with torchs. Enjoy!
Human wanderer is the actual best noob class. Not so good at combat that you get conditioned to be a bump warrior, but not so bad a beginner can't fight effectively.
I would like to submit skeleton rogue for great noob combos. When you don't have to eat you can really take your time to sneak around and pick up all the shinies plus you are immune to fire, which was my biggest run ender early on
@@ryanpongracz8051When you are playing, on second floor there is a secret floor called Gnome Mines where there are many gnomes, a lot of them have staffs which you can use to level up your magic very easily
Fun fact: you can actually block with a torch! Their defense is a tier below wooden shields and they break easily, so you wanna stock up on a lot of them. As brewer main though, it has significantly improved my survivability.
@@Loquacious_JacksonUsing staffs levels up Magic stat, cursed items cannot be unequiped, BUT if you equip a cursed staff and use it until it breaks it will level up your magic stat and it will automaticly unequip itself when it breaks.
My favorite part is when he says hes gonna loot a bunch of stuff and then sell it to the shop. Then proceeds to literally drop everything on the ground.
Daggerfall is one of my comfort games that i love spending hours in, crawling through dungeons. This game scratches that itch while presenting so many ways to get through a dungeon. Im obssessed with this game
This game really is a gem. Been playing it for 50 hours with a buddy now. I wonder how it only got so few players. The reddit is dead. I hope some new players are trying it this year!
Watching this game the a super cool idea. Imagine a game like this but it’s 4 player 3v1 each there would be 3 squad mates going up against one dungeon master for lack of better term. Each floor you all play together going through obstacles and enemies that the “dungeon master” sets up each floor. Think of it like interactive chess, but it’s live combat rpg element. and after you go a few floors the finale round depending on who makes it that far would be a the players vs the “dungeon master” Hella classes hella items and play styles and mini bosses. Either randomized or set maps.
I picked this up and all the extra content a little while back for something to play on the Steam Deck. Haven't dug in quite yet but you did a really good job hyping it up, so I know what I'm playing this weekend.
I played Barony back in 2022, I died like 20 times before I even got past the 5th level and never really gave it a chance since I hate unforgiving games but huh I might pick it up again.
"Bury me with my money..." Holy shit, I never thought I would find another Sunset Riders fan! My friends and I spent many weekends in the arcade playing that game.
This game is great with other players. I usually turn off traps and the mino. If my friends and I make it to the gnome level and it goes well, it puts us on a direct path to victory.
9:50 cursed magic staves can be used to spam all of the spells out of the staff and increase your magic casting level. If its cursed you wont be able to unequip but if you break it by spamming the skill you can unequip it
It's crazy to think I purchased this game on a whim, a few years ago for a dollar, the game has really come a long way and I've since purchased the DLC to support the devs! :)
Got into Barony about two years ago, have a decent number of hours at about 150 and have gotten quite a few people into it as well. As of the last 3-4 months we have pretty much permanently swapped over to hardcore difficulty due being experienced enough to not find difficulty in base game. In my experience I would say you should always go to every secret level unlike what is said at 12:28. Same as many other video games that get progressively harder ie RoR2. You should basically always go for the riskiest/hardest challenge, especially if your run is bad. Its better to save time and play risky for potential major gains rather than slowly falling further and further behind until you inevitably die an hour later. That being said new players should probably play for 3-5 hours before seriously considering gnome level. By all means have fun exploring, but don't go in expecting to smoke the place. It will take a lot of deaths combined with trail and error, but once you get comfortable clearing gnome level your runs will be far stronger and smoother.
absolutely love this game, only found it because of my love for delver (another first person dungeon crawler). somehow both are underrated and i hope that if barony gets more coverage we get more action fps dungeon crawlers!
When you were looking for the mimic to kill and going down the corridors and turned and Robin Hood ran right past you full sprint, that shit scared me lol😂
Played this with friends a year ago and it was a blast but we felt like we had seen most of what it had to offer after a few runs. Will have to give it another shot.
Oh shit. Been playing this since a few months after it was available. Havent played in a couple of years, but i look so so forward to trying all this new stuff
This game is awesome, I've seen multiplayer and I love it alot, first it can be a fun dungeon crawler and later it can be a horror game with some ways to fight back
First of all thanks for the content... And the request, as you cover indie games, Last Epoch is about to release its 1.0 in 3 weeks and has been making waves. I know it might not be your style but since you cover indie games and LE is a very successful indie game story i thought it might deserve some of your time.
If there's a game that deserves to become super popular it's Barony. So many memorable moments when I played it with my group, it gives those cozy 90s RPGs feels I crave so much.
I've been seeing Steam friends play this on and off over the years, it was interesting but not really on my radar, until this video! They added 4 player local coop!
The boulder deals 80 dmg so later someone from tankier class can actually survive being hit by it. Also a useless tip: minotaur can be killed if you are strong enough. (I was able to do it with monk 18lvl)
It's also always worth waiting until the very last possible second to leave in a Minotaur level because there's a small chance that the Zapp Brigade will show up before it spawns. They all spawn at the starting location (where the minotaur spawns) and about 20 guys show up all wearing high level gear and wielding lightning staffs. They will demolish the minotaur for you, and several of them will inevitably be smashed, giving you access to all that sweet sweet gear. Also, you can recruit them just like any other human if you're playing a race that is friendly to humans.
Yeah Barony is one of them games that I really wish had more settings for difficulty or a progression system....I get it they want to make a balls to the walls hard game but I found it very frustrating I get it's real life skill based but some people have a low real life skill cap....anyway does not matter devs have been clear that they don't want to make the game more accessible to more casual players and that is their right.
Robin Hood was such a bro. Followed you without complaining and then died for you when you were in danger.
RIP Robin Hood.
