Health complications and college... can they go hand in hand? Today I talked briefly about the challenge! Also, can you believe it was 10 years ago that I moved from Maryland to Chicago to start college?! Time flies when you're having fun! Tell me your favorite late night snack... you know, up late studying and you need to eat... I go for salty (Ramen noodles, chips and salsa...etc)

Ramen noodles, Lays potato chips (sour cream & onion is my jam!), tortilla chips, lots of cheese. These were my favorites during college and are my go to snacks now (but I have less since I'm now diabetics).
The Frey Life In nursing school about 10 years ago I loved Pepsi Max and the spicy Fritos Twists.... they were my motivation to write the massive care plans we did every week!!
I'm in my senior year of college & struggling with some undiagnosed abdominal pain & frequent fatigue. It started in early August & I've gotten a number of blood tests, 2 ultrasounds, & CT scan & we still don't know what's wrong. I found your channel during this period & it's been inspiring to me & very helpful in teaching me that life doesn't have to stop just because you're ill or in pain - you just have to adjust your limits. So thank you very much! You guys are amazing & Ollie is adorable!!! I hope you see this!

I just want to share my appreciation for how open and positive you all are here on your vlogs. I found out this week that I'm probably going to have to get a port, and if it wasn't for watching you guys for so long, I would feel a lot more resistant and nervous and also much less informed on the whole procedure and device. This semester has been rough on me because all semester I've struggled to figure out what I can eat without abdominal pain, plus I've had random abdominal pain & frequent fatigue. They've run tons of tests & I still don't have a diagnosis. Mary has definitely helped me realize sometimes your health has to come before your homework.

Mary & Peter please please pray for my 2 yr old grand daughter. We just found out today she has a large tumor in her brain. She will be going to Boston tomorrow or Monday for surgery to see what kind of tumor it is. Love u both & could use all the prayers we can get. ❤

Thanks for putting meds into perspective. I have been struggling lately to take my nebulizer meds every 4 hrs. If I want to keep doing what I’m doing in life, I need to be consistent. My health is my full time job and I need to begin putting it first again! Thanks for the reminder! :). Xoxo
I am so glad that I am not the only one who has used a saline flush to clean a small wound on my service dog. People act like it’s weird to have saline flushes in my messenger bag, but whatever, I was a scout and I took “Be Prepared” to heart
Watching you guys makes me so happy! I always find myself laughing and smiling. I'm currently struggling with costochondritis...still waiting on results for the cause...if there is any that can be found. I know it isn't comparable to your health struggles but having constant pain has been so frustrating. Watching your positivity and trust in God gives me so much encouragement. Dear Mary, dear Peter, I am sitting in my dining room, watching the snow falling outside of the window..so beautyfull! I wish you and your family a happy christmas time and merry,merry christmas. Hoping your health stays steady,Mary! I love watching your daily vlogs, it is fantastic how much the two of you have to go through with head held up high and so much trust and love in God. You are both so young and so inspiring (if my English isn't perfect, please don't mind, but I am not a native speker) for others living with chronic illnesses. I am living with spms (secondary progressive multiple sclerosis) and a lot of things I used to do without even thinking about aren't possible any more, but I trust in the way that God is creating for me and my family and I am surrounded by my very supportive husband Gosbert and my two children Tamara and Nicolas, who aren't living at home anymore, one having her own family with three kids and one working in France. But they love coming home and Christmas we'll all meet under our christmas tree here in Underfranconia! Thansk again for sharing this with us! Love Britta (from Germany)
You're such an inspiration!! I have been watching your channel since I was admitted to the hospital for surgery and it got me hooked. Now Im in university and doing an assignment on CF and was able to re-watch some of your videos to help me fully understand. I even linked on of your videos into my project to help explain some of the treatments available to a patient with CF. Thank you for everything you do!! I will never got tired of watching your videos they make my days better especially when Im not feeling the best. I always sing the headache song when I don't have one because I get them often. Mary you are amazing to finish school with all that you had going on. I had to stop and once you stop it is harder to get back in financial aid wise. I'm glad that you are taking your meds right. I have a heart problem and I have had two open heart surgery's I also have over came a lot of things in life and I can't be happier with how my life has turned out and since I have been watching you guys for a while I think you guys should know that you have inspired beyond anyone ever has
I feel you with the college thing. I’m in college and whenever I forget to take my meds my body reminds me by making me pass out. Oh joy.
I’m getting ready for college next fall and am already terrible about doing all my therapy with senior stuff. But with all the surgery prep and new meds I’m remembering more and making my phone remind me.

I'm going back to school to become a Medical Assistant. Trying to get the pre reqs class done this winter semester so I'm hoping to start clinicals in the fall next year.

I am in the same situation with high school right now. I don’t choose to neglect one or the other (Health, academics, etc.) but it kind of just happens.
I’m trying to manage full-time high school classes on campus, One college class at night once a week, and hopefully a part-time job at some point but right now my host needs more care than my academics.
I’ve had this issue before where in my house gets bad and it’s either school or my body. Right now my chronic pain is worse than it has ever been in my fatigue is off the charts. It’s so hard to focus on education when you’re so dizzy because your pain is so high, yeah if you don’t focus on education you’ll get punished.
Just before watching this I was telling my hubby that I keep forgetting to eat and take my meds. I don't have CF. I have EDS, MCAS, hypoglycemia, CCI, fibro, etc. Both my body and brain are broken. I just can't remember anything. Timers, alarms, writing things down.... nothing works for me. I'm so impressed that you can keep up with everything!
We might get snow on Sunday here in north London too!

I had been bad with remembering my meds that I need to take in the middle of the day until recently when I downloaded the Round app! It will send a notification when I’m supposed to take my meds then when I check it off it marked down the time and will tell me how many doses I have until my script is up. It’s a pretty cool app that has really helped me so far and I’m hoping it can help others too!
I run the clinical trials in lung cancer. I feel like Mary would be the perfect patient! That sounds super weird, but she is so on top of her care

I just finished watching your leggings vlog and buying your washing machine. Reminded me of the time we discovered a washing machine went bad. My mom asked me to go down and throw the towels in the dryer. I get to the bottom of the steps and said there is water on the floor. The machine filled with rinse water and never shut off. Oh what a mess that was. Oh and congratulations on another great vlog. You are one of four that I look forward to every day. It brings peace to me during a major upset in my life. Honestly, i'm in college now and i've been taking levothyroxine for about a year and a half for hypothyroidism and I have to take it every morning, and you'd think by now I wouldn't ever forget, but there are days i'll be halfway through the day and eating lunch and think "i never even thought about taking my pills today..." and i leave my pills right next to my bed so i see it first thing and i just start to look past it. I hope it gets easier because i have to take this every day for the rest of my life! Here's to hoping ;)
You guys are so awesome, only recently subscribed to your channel and I am totally loving your Vlogs guys. You are such an adorable cute and humorous couple and when I’m in the hospital next week, I plan on watching back to back Vlogs from your channel from start to current vlog, so I know the history of the 2 of you and can’t wait to get to watch all your Vlogs. Mary I do not know how you do this every day 💪 I have a fever of 99.3 fahrenheit to about 101.3 since wednesday and been coughig so much my lungs are on fire..I think I saw even a little bit of blood in my mucus 😢probably from the coughing.. and this whole time I've been thinking of you and if you do this every day for your whole life I can do this for a week or as long as it lasts.. I got antibiotics because my doctor assumes I have the beginning of a pneumonia.. 😢 so It's not the best start to december but it is what it is 😊 Love all of you ❤ thank you for encouraging me 💚😘💪🤘

Hi Mary! Maybe you've thought of this before, but have you ever used a medicine reminder application. I have mental health issues and I have to take several meds. Sometimes they change my schedule and I just use an app to help me out. You can set up reminders. They can be annoying, but doesn't allow me to miss my meds.
I'm sure they're plenty of apps, the one I use is called Medisafe. I promise, I'm not sponsored! It's just that it has worked for me so far. You can share your schedule with Peter as well. Just an idea

Yesterday I got an email saying my Ollie bundle has been shipped! So excited for my Ollie boy!
They have an antiseptic spray at Wal-Mart in the dog section that would be great for Oliver. It's only a couple bucks (last I bought it) it has the antiseptic and some no chew taste/flavor? to discourage licking/chewing at the wound. It's AMAZING for hot spots. Even when I work at the Vet clinic we would always recommend it instead of the RX only stuff we sold.

Happy Saturday to all of the Frey Life family( we I think it's still Saturday for you, cos it's 12:50am here in England) we got snow here in my part of the English countryside today. It was the 1st time one of my dogs had seen snow. It was REALLY cold all day. at one point it was -5c. Mary I no wot you mean about college. I went away to university. It was the first time I was a 100% in charge of my meds, Drs appointments etc. Like you Mary sometimes the only way I would no I had forgotten to take some meds was wen I started to feel shaky and have acid reflux. Or worse case scenario I would have a seizure cos of forgetting my epilepsy tablets( luckily that only happened a couple of times) My memory is so bad now that my carers are the one that give me my meds. It was really hard working in all of my health and wellbeing between my uni work. But by my 3rd yr I had it nailed and I graduated with a 1:1 degree in Sport and additional needs education.As always sending you all loads of love from me and my furbabies over here in England.💜🐶🐶🇬🇧 ☃🌨

I'm at uni and honestly it's so difficult to remember to take my medication.
I realized on Thursday half way to work that I forgot my first dose of something after being on it for 5 months. I just took it late and now I take it at night instead of in the afternoon which is better anyway.
I got so over pills that I quit all my pills for 6 months. But I'm starting to take my pills again.
Talking about college made me wonder Mary, What did you study in college?
I'm bad , too. Even after all these years, I *still* forget to take my meds! Like today in fact!

I’m so used to taking insulin that sometimes I do it absent-mindedly. I’ll forget if I actually did my shot or not. When that happens, I have to wait and see how my blood sugar reacts. Taking a double dose would be dangerous because it would be difficult to keep my blood sugar up.
