Bought this in Santa Monica on vacation. It's amazing. Not super peaty, but one of the most complex drams I've had.
Good old Horst. A very fine review.
This year's version is called 'The Week of Peat'. Just picked up a bottle for $293 Canadian. Delicious stuff. It's more campfire smoke rather than Islay's medicinal.

Would a fan of Islay/Isles/Skye scotch like Tali 10 or Ardbeg 10 enjoy this? You mention the smoke, peat, and spice, and those are all signatures of the Isle malts. If I’m a big fan of those scotch whisky’s, and i also enjoy non peated Balvenie, is this something you’d recommend trying?
You’ve probably bought a bottle at this point but I love the intensely smokey islay’s to the point that they’re still not strong enough for me but I enjoyed this whisky. It’s got a good peat to it
I take it Horsts' not a fan of Islays... Stinky! Bwahahaha! I lost it.
I once spent a week with a weak peated whisky, a week I'd rather forget.

Try putting 1 teaspoon of water in for each oz of whiskey. It becomes beautiful butterscotch!
