    Can't wait to see how all the projects you've done this year turn out! Even if any of them failed it can still be great content for learning. Keep up the good work guys!

      Thank you Ben! I always try to show updates of my trees, even if it didn’t work out like you said. If you don’t see an update on a specific tree most likely it sold after the UA-cam video posts.

    Itoigawa is more faithful to replicating the original foliage while still looking better

      Not sure what you mean by faithful and replicating the original foliage but I guess it is personal preference :)

    Great video: lots of info and great demonstration! Looking forward to see how it goes!
    Only one correction: wait until you get a few more years behind your back and you won’t say anymore that age is just a number! 😉

    Nice video, who did you pick up the collected tree from? It’s a great size, very manageable compared to so many you see these days. Would be great to pick up a nice medium size specimen! Thanks

    On thread grafting, can you cut on the branch portion to make it look like an aerial root? Thanks so much and God bless!

    Great idea for a video. I literally just approach grafted my American Hornbeam the other day.
    Will you be participating in the $50 Bonsai Challenge that Carlos of 'Bonsai Yeah' started? He challenged Nigel Saunders, then Nigel challenged 'Frost Bite Bonsai', and she now has challenged Jerome and Mari of 'We Are The Bonsai Supply.'
    You don't have to be challenged to take part, but the original challenge has stopped at this channel, so far.

    Great video Jerome, question regarding location of the graft on the live vein. Does it matter where on the live vein you graft, to increase the success? Meaning is the center better than closer to the deadwood.

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  2 роки тому

      Hey Mitchell, center of the live vein is definitely better. Keep in mind that you will always see the approach graft so try to hide it a bit by attaching it from the back.

      @@WeareTheBonsaiSupply Oh I'll threaten! Just last week, we dug up some manzanita's. Traditionally, It's not the best time, but some were theorizing that now-during monsoon, when the tree is at it's strongest-might be an option.
      They are SUPER hard to keep alive, so why not try something different. There's SO many of those, and oaks, 10 mins from my place. One seeds are harder to get, since many have dug most of the good one's up.
      I know you were talking with Cynthia, we are sorting things out, and will reach out soon to see what's your availability late winter.

    Not sure how you can say that a yamadori juniper grows one inch every 75 years? That just seems out there!

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  2 роки тому +1

      The forestry service estimates that California junipers in the wild will grow about 1 inch of trunk diameter every 75-100 years.

    I worry it’ll be a shame when every collected juniper has the same Shimpaku foliage. Interesting video though. Thanks
