Scorpio like me? Love this video so much! I. Didn't realize how whimsigoth my style is until watching this! Very moody Nancy Meyers which you explained so much better! Really thoughtful and thorough content! Thank you!
I love the concept of Whimsigoth! The blend of Gothic elements with whimsical charm sounds enchanting and unique. It's fascinating to see how this aesthetic has evolved since the late '80s and early '90s, and I appreciate the pop culture references you included-especially Tim Burton’s influence!
I’m so glad you l loved it! I’m in the early stages of research for a “Dark Academia” design video and there is some overlap with Whimsigoth, so you may like Dark Academia as well. Thanks for watching, happy Scorpio Season! ☺️
I would have guessed Capricorn like me because Garnet (deep red) is Capricorn’s birthstone. Also, you mentioned brown which is the color of earth and Capricorn is an earth sign…but I saw your reply to the Scorpio guess. 🤎🤎🤎
The sun, moon, stars prints and stained glass looking globe candles were the vibe. Huge influences to whimisigoth from someone who lived it the first time around were The Cure’s Disintegration, Tori Amos Little Earthquakes, Anne Rice’s Vampire Lestat and Mayfair Witches (before the media destroyed them) You can’t have the style without the soundtrack and the books. Great job otherwise!
Hey, thanks for watching! There is some overlap between Whimsigoth Design and Dark Academia-dark, moody, and using antiques and vintage-however, the "whimsy" element is a big difference. Whimsigoth will have references to magic, astrology, and astronomy and a sense of playfulness in colors, furniture, lighting, and decor, whereas Dark Academia will have more historical, worldly, and academic elements. I plan to cover Dark Academia in a future video, which may help distinguish the two styles.
Your style of breaking down a design style is 👩🍳🤌🏻

Ahhh! Don't separate sets!
Don’t worry, I reunited the pieces after filming. No sets were harmed in the making of this video 😉

Is your star sign Cancer with the ruby red?
Good guess, but, no. I love Cancers though, Ed is the Cancer sign. 🥰
How is this not a version of dark academia
