Tutorial for Tie Dress with no sleeves: • Front Tie Dress Tutori...
The Syd Tie Top & Dress is a versatile pattern with the option to make either a loose, full length Top or a flowy, tiered, mid-calf Dress. With either option you have the choice to add a 3/4-length puffy sleeve or go sleeveless. No matter which direction you go, the pattern features its signature front-tie closure.
This sewing pattern is designed for a confident beginner and has beginner friendly sewing instructions, illustrations, and an accompanying video tutorial to make the construction easy to follow.
Sizes:
0 - 34, which correlate to 31"-61" Bust, 24"-54" Waist and 34"-65" Hip
This pattern includes:
- Detailed instructions with clear illustrations
- Nested Print at Home Files (US Letter + A4 compatible) with layers
- Large Format File (A0/Copyshop)
- Projector File
Suitable Fabrics:
For this pattern, our top recommendation would be a woven cotton or linen with a moderate or fluid drape between 3-7 oz per square yard. Stiffer fabrics with a voluminous drape can be used, but may result in a “poofier” garment. Knit fabrics with a lot of stretch are not recommended, as they can cause the binding construction to be quite tricky.

So appreciate the inclusion of "mirrored" as a new sewist, I've made the mistake of cutting two instead of two mirrored and it was so frustrating.
Same thing happened to me when making a corset as a beginner sewist! 😅😂❤
As i love this video and this top. I would not describe this beginner haha 🙈
Hi! I just bought this pattern & I am so excited to make it - I have been waiting for this pattern to drop 💕❤️
For my first attempt at it I’m making a size 18 & I have two yards of quilting cotton fabric - do you think making the sleeves short sleeved is a feasible adjustment for my top 🫢
I’m thinking of just making the sleeves half the length of the pattern but I’m not sure if it’s a good idea
yessss i have been waitinggggg ❤🎉
I can’t wait to make this top! But I can’t see the cutting layout in the instructions
For bigger bust, should the fold be bigger, smaller och should i have more fabric? Loved this tutorial! ❤️
Beautiful thanks for sharing
Great tutorial. Thank you.
Hi! I’m so excited to try this pattern! I got some fabric today that is pretty soft and has stretch. Will this pattern work on it?
If it's a knit fabric, I wouldn't recommend it. I would use a woven cotton or linen. Some stretch is fine, but if it's super stretchy construction will be tricky.
Woohoo! This looks like such a fun sew and beautiful top. Is it possible to sew it without the poofy sleeves and just regular short sleeves?
You could definitely do that hack! You would need to self draft a new pattern piece for the sleeve.
would a gingham fabric work for this top & dress?
do you have the measurements on the pieces, I'm a beginner at sewing and don't understand how long the pieces should be, is it like that I have to find the measurements adapted to myself or do you have them so that you might be able to help me, i am a xs/s😊
Her pattern has different sizes and you cut it out based on your personal size. You can then follow along with the video!
Thank you for the video! Did you also make the shirt you were wearing while sewing? I love that Peter Pan style collar!
No actually, I found that gem at a vintage shop!
Does this have the modifications for the Ganni peplum bottom? Maybe I just missed it 🤔
No, this is the tutorial for the pattern as designed! I’ll be creating a separate video showing how to hack it for a Ganni dupe.
Lovely! I’ll keep my eyes peeled ☺️
the pattern is soooo expensive in my currency im suppppa saaad
Same and in ma country we don't use credit cards I'm sad I can't find any pattern in any website
I cant pay for the pattern how can i get it 😢
Wow not a beginners sew
Beginner doesn’t necessarily mean your first project. Bias binding and sewing a channel for elastic are very beginner techniques.
Syd this top is beautiful!! 🥹 I’ve bought this pattern and I’m so excited to make it! Do you think this could be hacked into a v-neckline? I’m not sure how to go about this…
