It's the distance they both practice and play at that is important. Sabrina shoots deep 3s like Steph as well. Strength, stamina and hand size are different between the sexes and that accounts for ball size and minutes in the professional game. The rim size and height of hoop didn't change for ease of transitioning from men's to women's practices and games.

hard agree. It feels so different to hold the ball men use (FIBA) vs the one women use. Same distances, and I've gotten more used to playing with a 7 ball, rather than the 6, but half of the shot form changes because it feels so different. Even play styles are completely different when you watch a WNBA vs an NBA game. they just aren't the same and both accomplishments are just as impressive.

Here's my opinion. She should shoot from the NBA 3 point line because she is using a smaller ball. That gives her a disadvantage as she is shooting from further out. Steph has the disadvantage of using a bigger heavier ball, but he shoots from the NBA 3 point line all the time and is use to it. I'd say that makes them pretty even at the end of the day. I think this is what she agreed to and it makes sense to keep it fair. Good luck to both of them. Should be a great show.
But men have more upper body strength so the ball size is relevant to the body right? At least that’s what I think. I think they should do both at NBA line with big ball. Then have both shoot WNBA line with small ball to compare. From personal experience the ball size changes shooting characteristics, so it’d be interesting to see the best of both genders and see how it goes

No? The nba 3 point line is 22ft in the corners and 23ft 9in in the center. The wnba and all international ball play with a 20ft 6in 3 point line. The 4 point shot is 28ft from the basket btw so not really as close as it looks 😂

A lot of men in this comment section don’t seem to understand that with different physiology comes different regulations in order to MAINTAIN the same DEGREE of difficulty for each respective gender. Men are only looking at this from a male pov, so obviously it seems easier to you to use a smaller ball closer up, but female physiology requires that adjustment to keep the degree of difficulty the same. It’s all relative. Women typically have smaller hands and less muscle mass in the upper body, particularly in the arms and chest. Therefore, the WNBA 3-pointer for a woman is the same difficulty as the NBA 3-pointer for a man.

Props to Ionescu but if curry shot with her same condition he wouldn't have missed. The ball is smaller and the hoop is the same. The 3 point shot is closer in the WNBA.
I'm one of the few that has shot with both balls a lot because I was a woman's basketball coach. They aren't that different in fact the woman's ball can be trickier because you can't follow through on a lot of them. Notice Sabrina has to pull her follow through back on a lot of them.
Also if you aren't used to the girl ball you'll over shoot everything like Shaq at the free throw line.

It will never be fair because a women's size ball goes in the hoop 25% more easily because it is much smaller. effectively curry is shooting on a rim that is 2 inches more narrow than a woman. a woman needs to use a mens 29.5 inch ball and the mens 3 point line for it to be fair.
I think it would be cool to have them both shoot from the NBA 3-point line while using the WNBA ball first and the NBA ball next to see if your theory is correct because you’re probably wrong.

To make this fair shoot out they should have 3 rounds
Round 1 - they shoot from opposite 3 point lines. Example Sabrina shoots from the Mens 3pt line with the mens ball and Steph shoots from the Women 3pt line with women ball
Round 2 - Switch to their original 3pt line.
The catch is - if Steph wins more points in the first round he and Sabrina Wins more point than Steph round 2 then final shoot out at rnd 3
But if who ever wins both 1 and 2 rounds they are the clear winner and there no point of the 3rd round

The 3 pt line difference is much but thats not even the biggest advantage. I cannot express how much EASIER it is to make shots with a girl sized ball. The hoops diameter is the same nba and wnba , but girls have a smaller ball which makes the liklihood (bc of science) of it going in. Even myself. Someone who at this time plays once in a while, with a girl ball, I am literally steph curry and can’t miss, can shoot 36 footers and it basically always goes in. A smaller ball is lighter and travels farther and goes in the hoop so mich easier then a NBA sized ball lol. Thats the biggest thing.
