I used to love Bunya Park as a kid, went there so many times. I didn't know there were so many remnants left of the old zoo, I just assumed the whole area was housing now.
I remember both Bunya Park & Alma Park. It is a pity on more than one level that they are both bot still operating ;they gave so much. When I attended them both - on more than one occasion - it was with my then wife & we both enjoyed them. So sad they are both gone, in the name of progress. Thanks for this.
My wife and I went back there a bit before the end of last year, we went there on a Monday as well and missed the information center (main entrance) being open, The place sure is different now. We use to take our two kids there when it was a zoo, I remember where the outer part of the zoo was there were picnic tables, the only problem was there were Emus and Roo's running around in that area for the public to, lets say enjoy mixing in with, and they would can over and try to pinch your tucka, Cheeky things, but it was all fun, and the kids loved it, I did love their wedge tail eagle's, they're a big bird when you stand next to them. When those Croc's got out I think that one of them ended up down at Brendale in the creek next to were Cable Makes use be, now a car yard. But not sure about that, That Croc would have come from somewhere. Pity they didn't keep Alma Park Zoo as a park land, I use to work there, and still live just a couple roads away. They have really wrecked that area, so much for looking after the environment. Oh Well, Thank you for the video and see you in the next one.
@@iksexplorationsfollower2588 Alma Park Zoo was awesome for the kids. A shame that's gone too. My memories are a little hazy being only 8-10yo. Our friends had their car windshield smashed due to the stones flying up from the old dirt road. The maze and creepy Bunyip, old shoe and boat stick in my mind. There is a YT Steve Irwin Croc Hunter 4 part video on the removal of animals to Australia Zoo but not sure if it's from Bunya Park.
There used to be an island on the lake. Rumour has it that towards the end days of Bunya Park, dead animals would be dumped on the island, rather than be properly disposed of. Just a rumour...
@@Trgn The Bunya Park was closed in 1994. Steve Irwin Croc Hunter moved the animals to Australia Zoo. There is an episode from his Crocodile Hunter TV show regarding the relocation of the animals.
Thanks for the memories. Bunya Park and Alma Park Zoos were part of the foundation of my late childhood in the 70s.

@@dennismoore1134 the kids and family can still enjoy Kumbartcho but not as nearly as much fun as we did. 👍
Many of the Alma Park animals are now accessed through the Big Pineapple facility
@AlphGen The Wildlife HQ. We never really hear much about that zoo. Obviously Australia Zoo gets all the media attention.
I have an old friend who worked at Bunya Park. I still remember my first visit in the 70s.
13:40 A frog sanctuary. How cool.
If you are interested there is a Azure kingfisher that hangs out around the top pond there
Used to go there as a kid in 70 and 80s
@@AlphGen I'm sure I've seen photos on Facebook of the kingfisher. A great spot on that platform for photography.

@@BradGryphonn not sure what protocol is required in that situation. Money probably came into it or lack of.
How's the state of the animals living there, seeing that the zoo doesnt get much visitors
