Sounds great man! I have a Sop Metal Yani #9 piece also that I bought new and have played since 2002 (18 yrs). It’s super easy to play, especially when I’m switching back and forth from tenor. It gives me a warm, full sound and doesn’t kick back when I push it. Personally, I sound like an out of tune oboe when I play on most hard rubber sop pieces. :). It’s a great fit with my Keilwerth SX90II.
Not an oboe, an out of tune one !! LOL
Ooooh you got my attention. Video on older sax player. I'm all eyes and ears. I'm a over 60 beginner. Loving the journey but moving at a snails pace. I need a jump start and I'm sure you'll be the ticket. Can't wait.
I use the same exact soprano piece , but a 7. Yanagisawa pieces are very well rounded pieces and are very affordable. I used to use the Metal Yanagisawa 7 for my tenor as well.
This is my favourite mp of them all
Excelente suas experiências e dicas adorei seu canal e me escrevi para receber toda essa informação top demais sou fã do saxoprano e tenho uma boquilha dukoff S 5 e ela é bem estridente e comparei com essa
Sounds great. Did you mention what Reed you are using? I'm one of the old guys.
the mouthpiece reminds me of my Berg Larsen Alto Metal Mpc.
Great video!!
If you like to have a large opening on Soprano, Try the Dayna Stevens model SYOS. But Yanagisawa makes really good MPs-I have them for all my horns. And like you, I change gear to fit the situation.
I enjoy it immensely.
Cool
MAN!!!! Awaiting your series for old bones :))) YAS-62 and me, we are all thrilling away ))) . As a side note, can you please one day do an alto-altissimo route, just like you did for tenor?
Great review as always!
I just got myself this mpc (tip 7, after 2h testing) it sounds so sweet!
What is the song that you play in the end?
I'd be very interested to hear your instruction on the methodical approach a new player should take to learn how to play the sax. Thank you for your videos.
Tried these myself, a nice blow but I prefer a darker sound on sop 🙂
Sounds quite nice. I play on a straight neck soprano, a Conn-Selmer DSS 200 and can't play it without a neck strap or my right arm and thumb feels a little sore after a while, although I do find the strap sometimes gets in the way of the octave key which can be a bit annoying. I prefer warmer sound on soprano and currently play on a Eugene Rousseau Studio Jazz 6 as I feel its easy to play and no matter how hard I push it, it keeps its warmer core sound and won't over blow. I have never tried a metal mpc on soprano so far but if I did, might try this Yani. The one metal mpc I would like to try is a JodyJazz DV, but its quite expensive.
Thanks for the review. You mentioned a hard rubber bright mouthpiece. Which one is the brightest hard rubber I can get?
Theo wanne makes incredible hard rubber mouthpieces with extremely high levels of precision
@@Sirvalorsax thank you so much for your reply. I’ve heard about the Theo Wanna mouthpiece before and I soooo don’t want you to recommend it 😫 because it has that weeeeeird religious “goddess?” …. and the name on it. Sorry for expressing my “superstition” 😝 but that’s just my serious approach to the things I use and especially putting in my mouth. I don’t mean to bother you brother, but do you know which one would be next to it? 🙏
Great review! Would you recommend this for classical work? Loved your tone, man.
Not really
I would love to get the metal classical sax mouthpiece from selmer and review that from a jazz and classical point of view.
you should try a smaller tip yani. 9 is too big . on sop
I’m telling you man, Selmer s90, 180 with a vandoren blue box 3.5 clarinet reed. Thank me later 😝 it’s a tight setup but if you learn to control it you can play classical and funk no issue.
Classical and funk with the same piece, WOW. You got my attention on that one
Nice roll over baffle.
Sound with tons.of body!
Thats a largeee mp
Yes reeds little to hard.
Thanks.for sharing!
Cool
I like the more rounded mellower soprano sax sound that you produce on this setup. What make/brand is the instrument?
This is an Allora professional model with matte lacquer. I did a review on it also.
Wow🎷🎷
Mouthpieces are a science by themselves.
Somehow, I bought this sop mpc. Yanagisawa- Japan, brand new on EBay. Everyone knows this mpc costs at least $200.00 right? This must be a ROC copy, plays like a million, $39.00. How this happens I don’t know. I’m going to play the thing until wear out!
I think it's one of those knock off ones. They really aren't Yanis. They are generic mouthpieces that get a Yanagisawa stamp on them. Thing is, a lot of those mouthpieces play really well BUT, I have no idea how they are made or what they are made of so I stopped playing and reviewing them until I get more info. I'm looking to get an unplated Yibuy gold plated in the future
Do you strictly play on Vandoren reeds?
I have a box of Rigotti Gold in my cart but with the exception of la Voz medium on soprano, yes all Vandoren. I'm playing Redbox #2 in this video
Sirvalorsax have you tried the lupifaro or Boston sax shop reeds?
I really like your playing and videos, but i have one question, where do you get your backing tracks, and what advice would you give to someone just starting to improvise?
I make almost all of them. I don't want to get flagged from UA-cam in the future
For improvising , go slowly and start with simple embellishments of the melody. Transcribe Gerald Albright BUT JUST THE MELODY!!! Really focus on how he plays just the melody
@@Sirvalorsax thank you
