Studio Tour with Jacqui Beck

- Welcome to my studio! Here's a chance to see where I work, and the tools and materials I use to make my paintings. I've put together a supply list for the tour, and you might like to have a look at some of my other videos that show some of the techniques I talk about in this one.

I love how there is no guarding of information as to type and brand of materials etc. Everything is shared and transparent. Thank you for this. I don't get how some artists, both men and women, are protective of this sort of thing and keep everything to themselves and gatekeep, as if they and the art world are so very precious and selected as elites!!
Yes, I really agree with you. No matter what supplies and techniques we use, the art we make is an expression of who we are. There’s no reason not to share information about how we make it, and there’s always a reason to be generous.

I have been watching studio tours and they're all so boring and so perfect and they don't even look like any art is being made there. Your tour however is FULL of authenticity and you even tell us what kind of art supplies you're using which is just so wonderful. I loved it! Thanks
I completely agree and came to the comments to say this. Like… I make a mess with art and can’t relate to the perfect, lined up bottles in matching canisters from the local big box shop. To each their own but even as a child I loved the messy, eclectic feel of the art room at school or an artists workspace. The rest of my house is far more orderly but my art studio needs to be a creative space where I’m not scared to mess up something.

Beautiful. My studio is in half a garage yes I do shift the car out cleaning paint drops off car not fun. And I to play Springsteen very loud while painting thankfully my husband is devoted fan he met him in Auckland NZ. You have inspired me to enhance some of my work. 🙏

I love your work! Great channel, please keep posting videos. I would love a link to some of your supplies, the big pallette and the smaller one with squares in particular. And more videos on your college process, it's amazing what can do.
Thanks, DW. I'm putting together a supply list for the videos. It should be up within a week. I'll include the supplies you're asking about. Yes, using collage is wonderful. I use collage (usually papers I've made) in almost all my paintings these days.
I wish you would share a bit more about your story as an artist. For example, your self discovery in becoming an artist, your history and transitions, challenges, life in a day details. You are inspiring! Thank you and wishing you the best.

Sometimes I glue them to cradled panel. I also sell them unframed, attached to foam core with stick-on corners in an acetate envelope.

I use matte medium.
