Would like to hear in a video more about their scripted response. I have had good conversations with them on the street, but then all of a sudden things go weird and they leave.
Please! I would love to hear a really direct answer to the question at 21:33. This is exactly the issue I struggle with-balancing how much I let the missionaries know about what I know. It is also complicated because I was also raised in the church and i don't want that to shut down the conversations.
Appreciate the work that you guys do, dialogue is so important with the mormons since they just automatically entrench when they are confronted. It hits home for me since I grew up 20 yrs in Utah, and had to move away to believe in God again. I didn't think I would ever put faith in anything again.
@@carbinewolf I am not sure if this is really changing, since I never experienced it any different within the church... I actually do believe thought that there is a big difference within the LDS church depending on where youi are living at.. I, even as a missionary, always loved good and founded discussions, and I saw many being the same way.. but what may be right is that arguing over things is something many draw away from, since it mostly only proves that there are two side trying to prove their point, whiklst I would embrace any heated conversation if it was met with respect and mayby even the humility to learn from eachother..
@VAATAUSILI4139 hey, mormon dude, i've researched about your religion and about joseph smith, and prayed if the BOM is true, and the answer i got is a NO. don't tell me to keep on reading it until i get a yes haha
@@VAATAUSILI4139 - Sorry to burst your bubble, but you are not a Christian. That is because the LDS do not worship & pray to the God that Christians do. Our God was not formerly a man who worked hard & advanced his way into becoming A god. Read the first 12 chapters of Genesis, and then the books of Luke & John to start gaining an understanding of who the true God is. Your salvation depends on it.
Best book I’ve ever read on witnessing to LDS! We’re having two missionaries for dinner and this has helped our preparation. Thankfully they’re “green” so it will be easier but still relying on the Holy Spirit to regenerate.
Yeah you should be able to tear their faith down easily. You must be so proud of being involved in the age old “Christian” endeavour of tearing others down because you think you are right and they’re wrong.
Q: I hear often, nothing good and beautiful will come from something bad or evil. (Something to that effect). How would you respond? (What comes to my mind is that Satan can appear or disguise as an angle of light but I believe they would feel that as an attack even if it’s not). Q: Do you think the new emphasis coming from the church, general conferences and the new preach my gospel, is more of a prosperity gospel message? It almost seems like recently there’s a big push to read the BOM daily and living LDS standards and more focus on the temple, in order to receive blessings. Im sure if LDS were more in their doctrine (D&C and Pearl of great price) that they might have more concerns or questions, hence a more emphasis on the BOM and less on doctrine. I know the more I’m in the Bible, the easier it is to see problems in every chapter of their standard works. And like Ross said ‘the BOM is like cardboard’ there is no life in it. You don’t get fed like you do from the Bible (because the BOM is not divine/supernatural). This was such a great interview with these men! God bless GLM ministries and outreach.
How would you interpret 2 John 10-11 where he says “If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting. For whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works” should this be applied to Mormon missionaries since they are bringing a false gospel?
That's a great question - and one we've wrestled with. My current thinking (could very well be wrong, and it warrants more thinking): > Young Mormon Missionaries fulfilling a cultural/religious expectation aren't usually the same as more seasoned and wolfish false teachers > That being said...they "do not bring this teaching" - and so there is a part of this that seems like it should apply. > There should be a substantial "greeting" and show of hospitality between Christians ("do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith" - Gal. 6:10). Paul OFTEN begins letters with special greetings only given to Christians ("Grace & Peace"/"Holy Kiss") > There SHOULD be a way that our greeting and hospitality differs between other Christians and unbelievers generally...and then especially with false teachers/Mormon Missionaries. > I take "receive him into you house" to be a substantial act of hospitality. Supporting their ministry, encouraging their teaching, footing the bill, feeding them, etc. We should NOT do those things...but ARE allowed to offer general kindnesses. > Jesus ate w/ the "sinners" of the day. We have to balance these two truths - no judgment from me on people who land in a different spot! I may ask some of the others from the GLM team to weigh in, I think we may all have slightly different takes on this.
@@GLM Thank you for your response, And that makes sense. I can see how that could mean not giving them the same greeting or hospitality that you would show to fellow Christian. That makes me wonder if referring to them as “Elder” or “Sister” so and so would be wrong since you giving them a biblical title of someone in the family of God. I like what you said about being allowed to offer them general kindnesses. As much as I want to love on them and be a blessing to them, I certainly don’t want to compromise the word of God either. Definitely something that warrants more thought like you said. And again, I appreciate your perspective God bless you!🙏
It’s my understanding the Mormon church is hemorrhaging members. They have had to reduce the length of services on Sundays due to a lack of members to fill all the necessary roles.
I did not hear any of these guys mention the role of the Holy Spirit in dialoging with the LDS person He draws the person to Christ- without the leading of the Holy Spirit you are spinning your wheels
Corey Miller says that when Mormon missionaries ask people to rely on a subjective experience as their sole criterion of truth; that’s problematic. I mean whoever heard of relying on a subjective experience like the Holy Spirit bearing witness (John 16:13) which Mormon missionaries always encourage their investigators to seek instead of believing the witness of an evangelical denouncing Mormonism. I mean let’s forget the more sure word of prophecy (2 Peter 1:19) that Mormons always encourage investigators to rely on to witness to them when evangelicals like GLM are criticising and persecuting Mormons based on their interpretation of the Holy Bible. Whose more believable? The definite witness of evangelicals or the subjective “more sure word of prophecy”; the Holy Spirit?
Corey Miller is saying that Mormonism teaches that everyone essentially goes to heaven and that Mormons don’t teach what’s in the Bible. But the Bible teaches 1 Timothy 4:10 which is identical to Mormon doctrine. Mormonism is very much Bible based.
Genuine question, in the Bible it says there is no marriage in heaven, and no having kids. And that we will be like the angels. Matthew 22:30, mark 12:25. What is the LDS perspective on this?
@ I don’t represent the LDS church but as I see it Matthew 22:30 and Mark 12:25 is saying to the Sadducee’s that their seven brethren that were of their faith, where they didn’t believe in Christ or the resurrection, wouldn’t be getting married in the resurrection. Matthew 22:20 and Mark 12:25 doesn’t say that married people don’t remain married in the life to come. Indeed Peter taught that marriages would remain; 1 Peter 3:7. Faithful LDS men and women are sealed together as husbands and wives for time and all eternity in sacred temples with a covenant that remains in the world to come.
Google Mormon doctrine vs Christian doctrine. You'll see the LDS have scripture together better than the other churches. How do you explain this greater knowledge possessed by the Latter Day Saints?
